What will happen first: gen tap nerf or a gen regression kick buff?🙃
I think they would both be good...kicking seems worthless without pop or oppression.

Gen kick buff IMO will happen first
Even with oppression is just terrible... But we'll wait and see
9 -
Unfortunately I dont see either happening.

They said multiple times that they don't want to mess with gen speeds directly so i don't think we will see any of this.
1 -
All they need to do is just add a standard skill check when a surivivor begins repairing a gen that is regressing.
Just a standard check, no fancy effects or extra regression, this alone would help solve gen tappers.
Ok maybe a special check that has no great skill check spot.
2 -
Neither tbh
3 -
Knowing bhvr. They'll adjust something no one was complaining about to say they did something.
6 -
IMO, the only gen tapping nerf needed is it should take 1-2 seconds of continuous repairing to stop regression.
Brutal Strength could be buffed to do a small amount of gen progress loss but base kit shouldn't be changed.
2 -
I mean, even as a survivor, this or an actual skill check isn't asking for much, when right now you can tap a gen mid chase if you were careful enough.
3 -
Agreed. I don't really get why they don't change it. Idk if they've ever explained their reasoning

That first part should happen I agree.

The regression is fine of the gen kick, what I would say is the gen tapping which makes the regression not even come through.
My idea was very simple and would be such a easy solution, just simply put a progress bar to "undamage" the gen. So instead of just touching you need to hold for 4 full sec on the gen to get rid of the regression. If you let go to early then you need to start all over again, that prevents survivors to hide next to the gen and tap if the moment you leave.

Good thing boon totems were added...keep juggling killer mains🤣

Both ideas have great merit and should be implemented as soon as possible. Current gen regression is atrocious at the moment and the mathematics back that up in favor of survivors. It takes about 80 seconds for 1 survivor to complete a generator but base regression of a generation from 99% to 0% takes about 320 seconds, which is 4x the difference. Which basically makes it so that it isn't worth kicking the gen at all unless you have pop and even then it only regresses 25% at one time. It would 1 survivor only about 20 seconds to recover that regression and it is the best on kick regression overall in the game. Ruin itself has better regression but of course that comes with the risk of it being destroyed and in most cases clogging a killer's build with more regression perks in the inevitability that it is destroyed. If base regression was at least increased with a general 5%-10% regression with generator tapping brought under control it could lead to other fun perk combination outside of the standard 2-3 slowdown/regression perks for at least some of the player base.

A Legion buff will happen before either of these.
1 -
IN MY OPINION...neither. I hope I'm wrong but I have a bad feeling about either ever happening, or at least happening any time soon.
0 -
Probably gen kick
0 -
I hope I'm wrong, but I don't foresee any of them being changed anytime soon. These are things people have presented as problems for years.

Make it so that a basic killer kick does 5% instant regression. This way if survivor keep tapping, killer can just regress it by 5% again. Maybe also increase regression speed by 50%
1 -
You spelled gen kick nerf wrong.
Also Gen kick nerv obviously.
0 -
This doesn't really influence gen speeds in the traditional sense that they were likely alluding to. But I do not think we will see it either.
0 -
Well devs repeatedly state to just use Overcharge if you dislike tapping.
So my vote would go to regression buff.
0 -
As many people already said, neither. The devs are way too scared to anger the masses without giving some for carrot (buff survivor or nerf killer related stuff) to accompany the stick (gen nerf).
0 -
A regession buff is warranted but there's nothing wrong with gen tapping.
0 -
Y'know, why does the overcharge skill check continue even if you let go? You'd think it'd just blow the gen like just about everything else. S'neat, and I'm not complaining, but what's the reasoning behind the decision?
1 -
They have said a lot of things that haven't seen the light of day🤑

Gen tap nerf is what I see happening first
gen kick buffing can potentially (rarely ever) get out of hand
but gen tapping as a concept is ridiculous.
0 -
- Nerf Pop to 20% or even 15%
- Each kick regress the generator by 5%
- 1 or 2 s to cancel the regression
Would be a good start.
1 -
Makes sense given that a brute of a killer has just bashed it about. It would probably react when someone then starts poking around with it.
1 -
Good suggestions 😊

Gen tap is just the result of poor time management on the killers part. While the base regression should be increased to make breaking a gen more viable, it should only be done when you know it will stay regressing for some time after.
Kicking a gen when you fully know a survivor will be back on it once you leave is poor decision making.
2 -
I dunno, i'd like for it to explode if let go.
1 -
You have never had a gen tap happen to you during a chase right?
It is impossible to damage and push 2 to 4 survivors off a gen and still regress it when the kick animation takes longer than the tap.
0 -
Why you shouldn't kick it. If 2 to 4 survivors are swarming a gen, the last thing you should be doing is kicking that gen.
0 -
To be fair, it does delay them like .002 seconds, so that's about 1/24th of an extra hit! Or something.
1 -
Gen kick regression is not ok. It's only 1/4 the speed of repairs. It takes no time at all to undue the regression from a kick. It should be 50% at the very least.
0 -
Trick question; a pig nerf will happen first

obviously:
option 1) 50% noone of those options above
option 2) 50% [insert-random-killer] nerf.
0 -
That is obvious😊...I was responding to your gen tapping is a result of poor time management comment.
Chasing and pressuring survivors is not poor time management...gen tapping is just bad game design made easier by survivor based matchmaking.

Gen tapping is only a thing because they added gen kicking. 😄
BHVR was so worried about regressing gens they only allowed it to regress in fourths. You had to kick it again to go down another quarter.
But to stop regressing it's only logical that repairing a gen would stop it. Just because that repair lasts less than a second shouldn't mean it ignores it and continues regressing.

You would have a higher chance of BHVR re-adding those godawful gen noises they put in the game a while ago then them doing either of those.
For those that missed it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usfrTlro7Us

The reason why Ruin is so unpopular is cuz ppl dont like to see their progress lost, no one likes to sit and hold M1, increasing the damage would just support boring gameplay for the survivors, there are better ways to make gen kicking better.

gen tapping can be countered by my favorite perk overcharge and survilance
gen kicking can be countered by blast mind and rookie spirit

A kick should be 5% regression on the gen IMO. It will still be preferable to use pop for the extra 20% and survivors then need to think before gen tapping in chase.
0 -
Gen kicking should take just as much time as gen tapping then it would be fair🤣
0 -
It using a perk slot to as a bandaid fix instead of fixing the core problem but yeah they work well 😊

Sure, keep kicking those gens while survivors troll you.

I believe the devs have stated they actually like the ability to gen tap, so not only do I think its never going to be nerfed or dealt with. Its intensely likely that a kick buff will never happen either as the devs seem to be enormously adamant in forcing killers to use 3-4 gen defense perks, or just not use any at all and let the game end in 4~ minutes.
Or y'know, camp/tunnel/slug.
Ironically though, it would take just 2.5% regression per kick to force survivors to at least go even with the kill in time investment. (Before modifiers like brutal strength, toolboxes etc etc)

If there was an actual kick regression it wouldn't be an issue...let me regress it 5 to 10 percent each kick and let's see how long they continue gen tapping in a chase
0 -
But remember when they said we should have to depend on certain perks🤔. Well it was also said that trapper and clown aren't low tier just played wrong.

More likely that gen tapping gets buffed and gen regression gets nerfed
