Is visionary a good gen-finding perk?
Is it a turn-your-brain-off perk, or does it have a practical use (like for inside maps)? Also, does it pair well with open handed?

I think so yes although there are definitely better perks. It helps a lot when you can't find a gen even in out door maps although less likely. It does pair well with open handed.

There detectives hunch. I prefer detectives hunch because it also helps you find totems and it workes with open handed too. Deja vu is imo on the same level as Visionary.

Detectives hunch is the best perk of them all because not only does it track gens it tracks totems and chests so you can find gens and cleanse all the totems

One of my favorite perks hope it gets the windows of opportunity treatment in the future and gets the cool down removed

green map with range addons is good too and saves a perk slot! but if u want to use a perk, I'd say go for visionary

I think it is. I think you can get a lot more value out of it than perks like deja vu.

It helps to avoid a 3 gen problem and helps in navigation of rpd
