So BHVRs Response To The NFTs Completely Misses Peoples Concerns.
So BHVR just tweeted out this. However it completely misses the point that nobody was concerned over if NFTs were in the game or not. We were concerned over your companies support and endorsement of NFTs. BHVR, you need to address the real issue instead of trying to by exclaiming something we all knew already.

which is one concern, but it isn't the main underlying concern of most of the [vocal] community right now. They just didnt even mention anything about their stance on their involvement with NFTs and an NFT company. Or the omission of information from staff and players.

This is a good start, at least. I'd personally like them to take more of a hardline stance instead of just the implication ("nor will it ever") that they're against NFTs, but I do also understand they may have to tread very carefully for legal reasons.
Still. I think all of this will definitely dissuade BHVR from ever doing NFTs themselves, so that's something.

That was not the main concern though. What people are truly mad about is the fact they accepted the NFTs terms PAE set to have pinhead in the game. The better choice for them would have been saying no, seeing that it now kills whatever rep they had left. It's true that they are not selling NFTs, however, they had a hand in making them. Pinhead isn't worth seeing this game possibly die out.

I like this public statement from them, indirect apology accepted from me.
I might be seen as flippant, but it's not in anyone's good interest for them to belittle their partners or outright revoke their actions. Could you imagine how much harder it would make license agreements for them in the future? Not to mention other complications.
Whether they knew about the NFTs and were testing the water known as their ethical limits, or they supported it in ignorance and had no idea what their assets would be used for, the damage is done. This post is showing they have no interest in NFTs either way, likely in part from the backlash.
For me, complaining about things like NFTs and killer balance is to evoke a change instead of causing a riot.
If Behaviour will not pursue NFT activities in the future, nor support it further, I can't help but feel like they've learned a lesson and the complaints have done their job. But hey, if they ever do it again, I would consider it a breach of trust at that point and then be a bit more offended and distrustful.

Edit: I should note though, that I have no intention of financially supporting Behaviour's Pinhead content because of this. I'm also holding my wallet entirely until the distaste from this situation settles.

Yeah, I'm feeling pretty similarly. I respect the need to be cautious and not committing super hard to burning bridges, they do have to continue functioning in the business sphere with a decent reputation as a company to work with, so this is probably the best we're going to get.
This is worth the benefit of the doubt.

Maybe I should have said it better, but I'm not thinking Pinhead is the only reason. It would be one of the few. A lot of players refuse to play the game now and already uninstalled. The gain lost is now at 5,872 and continues to go down. The other reason for this lost could be SBMM. A lot people now find the game to be stale because of it.

"we see and understand your concerns with our involvement with NFTs. We apologise for any miscommunication, and our omission of information regarding the subject. We at BHVR do not support NFTs, nor do we condone any actions involving them on part of our partners at PAE and BossProtocol. Any content related to NFTs is exclusively to do with our partners and we have no direct involvement with them. They are free to use the assets we created for DBD as they see fit as the rightful copyright owners."
not that statements we got where the promote and endores the NFTs, along with saying they worked to adapt assets from DBD specifically for NFTs.

Okay, here's what would make people happy:
"Due to community response and further research, we have decided to disband from associating with BPs NFTs permanently. [enter reasons why nfts are bad]. Due to this decision, [enter a drawback to removing association, such as pinhead being removed]. We hope you understand why we made this decision in the first place, and we are deeply sorry for what we associated our business with"
And of course, disbanding with BP is the best outcome.

that would be ok, however that goes under the implication BHVR didn't make models specifically for use as NFTs. Which isn't the reality of the situation. As they stated they adapted the models for use as NFTs.

I would not be happy if they would remove Pinhead from the game. Also you expect them to throw out several months of work? Don't be ridiculous.

The problem on that end though is that these NFTs are going for $250 a pop. Even if one person purchases one, that's half a game console. All it takes is a small classroom's worth of people to make the investment into NFTs worth it.

of course we inherently don't know what it means. however, given what we do know. that BHVR intended the assets to be used for NFTs, I will assume that, adapted means the assets were created with the ultimate intention of being used for an NFT. I think that's a safe assumption, would you agree?

Its not the "money" aspect that has people irked. Its the impact that "currency" has on this planet. If it was simply someone forking over $1,000 for some crap nobody would care. Its the effect this has on the planet and that BHVR is endorsing the companies creating this mess and working with them.

My guess is that DBD created the models for the game. The license owners could have just hired some 3d artist to create the pinhead models, but since the models were already done for DBD, they just reused those.

Because this feels, and most assuredly is, an anti-consumer practice. The problem lies in that due to NFTs here being anti-consumer. So if this anti-consumer tactic is bought by folks, that'll make the marketing department and by extension the higher ups see NFTs as successful, thusly hurting you in the end. So if this is successful, that means resources ordinarily allocated towards development of the game and it's maintenance will be brought over to the NFT side of things, ensuring a lower quality product of what we already have.
Sure, folks can choose not to listen to me, but buying into something that is not regulated properly like NFTs is simply foolish in my honest opinion.

in which case why not say to the community. "the models we created are given to the liscence holders. should they choose to use them for NFTs is on there part." Why does BHVR need to express that they are the ones responsible for making the Pinhead model an NFT? It just doesn't add up in my mind. BHVR as far as I can see is far from innocent in this scenario.

NFTs are scams for sure. The endorsement is most likely contractual. You just can't ######### on a license owner because they decide to do something with their own property that you don't like.
Lets say bhvr refused the contract. They can't tell us why Hellraiser can't be in dbd. But that wouldn't stop the constant begging. Jason, FNAF, and others. Its a constant bring this to dbd drum beat not carring the cost.
Speaking of, if bhvr came out that Hellraiser could come to dbd but the IP holder wants to sell the models externally to the game. I think few would give a ######### to be able to play their icon.

Well that's the choice they should've made many months ago, I would rather pinhead not be in the game than associate the game with NFTs. Now they've got themselves in a complete cluster ######### due to licensing issues, but in order for the community to be happy, something has to go.
The most preferred outcome is that pinhead stays and BHVR doesn't work with BP anymore and stops providing them content.

This adressed one of the main issues many not so vocal players had: Does the game remain on Steam? With this cleared we know that it will because BHVR clearly said that "Behaviour Interactive does not sell NFTs." and most important for the Steam side: "Absolutely zero blockchain tech exists in Dead by Daylight. Nor will it ever."
Like it or not, many people are simply scared that Steam will kick their game into the void.
Let us see how this works out. Overall this adresses the most pressing issue.
By the way it is pretty funny reading those tweets where people complain about NFTs and say they hate BHVR for it or they will boycott this...on twitter...where the first tweet was made into an NFT...by twitter themself. Oh the irony...
Like, you complain about DbD endorsing NFTs...on the site with clear, direct NFT support that is even thinking about a integration of the Lightning Network (bitcoin) as a method of payment. It gets even better when you think that some of these people are drinking Cola while doing this while streaming disney+ in the background. Made my day.

Influencing others to disuade them from engaging or assisting with unsound practices is the baseline of voting with your wallet. Whilst there are many causes of ecological disaster simply saying its a pointless fight is ridiclous. Leave it to the next generation is abhorrent and irresponsible stance to take.
There is no pragmatic benifit to claiming digital ownership of an item investing large sums of processing power other then to make money off an elaborate con of a system. Its bad enough we have the stock market lets be one of the communities that sets an example for other games by taking a stance against practises that actively hurts the world we live on.
