Let me guess one of the challenges for the event tome
Its got challenges that require you to play as Mikaela? Along with use Mikaela's perks? I don't know as this is me guessing
Cause if it does then I have another post I can make where I can critic this event

I mean, tomes usually have challenges for specific characters and they're not all base game characters, so that doesn't seem too suspect to me.

Good thing is you don't have to do it to get the skin, you can go through another path.

Wow that is genuinely disappointing
I think its different for the fact that this is an event tome, not a normal tome, meaning this tome most likely is not open forever so people are punished for not having a character

Probably fair, yeah. As the above poster said, though, they're not required to go through the tome to get the Doctor cosmetic.

Yes but usually those are a) not time sensitive and b) the character didn't just come out. You usually have a chance to save up Shards to get them if you don't want to spend money.

Yeah thats a massive problem, if you are a F2P player and don't get enough shards for Mikaela then that is literally a "tough luck should have paid for her", this isn't an event this is just so people have a reason to buy Mikaela

Why would you want Mikaela's skin if you don't own her...?
Unless it's a case of not being able to get that skin if you don't buy her now, in which case... sure, I could see being annoyed by that. It doesn't impact the event, though, because you can progress that rift in general without doing Mikaela's challenges.

I haven't seen an answer on this yet, how much is the event rift? I haven't seen any notes on it so far.

What I am saying is that if you wanted her but don't have her yet, you would want to be able to get a free skin for her while working on unlocking her, if you played DBD for free where you unlocked stuff through progression that means you would need to get 9k shards to get her, which usually takes a LONG TIME to unlock, so if you wanted this skin you would need to either get 9k shards really quickly or pay for the chapter to do an event that is 2 weeks long

It's not really a rift, it's a tome that also has rewards in it.

Yes and no. Currently, the only focused challenge it has is "Survive as Mikaela Reid for 1 Match", but you can go through a different path and still unlock her torso.
You are just missing a fraction of her lore which I suppose is the same at the last tome where you had to play as Blight to get everything for him, but you could do the flowers instead.

Sure, but I don't see how that's a huge problem. The event's in place for a little while and unless you're starting completely from zero you can probably get her.
Or like... not get her? I've missed out on timed stuff before too, it sucks but it's hardly cause to do more than have a moment of disappointment. This isn't the end of the world, man, a lot of people already have her and she's available with currency you can earn, they're using their event to promote a new character. Pretty normal game stuff.

I'd also like to stress on currently, I don't know if the next section will have challenges designed for her, but I'd think there will be linked paths to get the cosmetics through a different medium if that were the case.

This game isn't a F2P Game though. This game costs money 40$ to be exact when I bought it anyways. If you can't fork over 5 bucks then you obviously have bigger problems then the event. Like it's just an event tome specifically FOR HER and you can just play killer if you want the doctor Skin. But wait Doctor is 5$ too what a shock.

The Event Tome has pathing that gives you access to all drops without owning Mikaela.
The Event Tome ALSO gives you Fragments for the current Rift Pass.
It's pretty generous @_@
