Is there any positivity here?

80% or more of the threads on here are complaining survivors are too strong or killers are too strong. Or they're announcing how Behaviour is killing the game, or how they're never going to play this game again.

Why not just uninstall the game and move on? Why does everyone have to be dramatic about it?

If you want the game to improve because you want to continue playing it, then constructive criticism is always better. But I know that doesn't get replies, so getting triggered gets attention, and people do it for the attention. But does it ever actually lead to changes in the game?

I’m perfectly happy. Yes, there are aspects to the game I don’t care for, but it all balances out. I mute in game chat and get on with my games.

As for the NFT stuff, I think the best way to deal with it is to not buy NFTs.

Did they fix the infinite loading screens yet? If so, me will be very, very happy. If not? Bad DBD! Bad!

I recently made a post encouraging people to buy DLC and cosmetics to support the game because despite its faults, it’s still a really fun game that I love to play. I’m being positive!

I am satisfied more or less since the game is not unplayable like months ago on console.

It is not perfect but good enough for me.

Would I like to see some stuff fixed or changed? Yeah. But it is what it is, no one is forcing me to play or not. It is my decision.

I had fun last night. I even managed to use a Yellow Mori on the last survivor with Pig who was too far away to get to a hook safely so it was a rare time that the perk actually paid off! 😄

No. The community of this forum is horribly negative, and basically always has been.

Seems like a DBD thing in general to me, as the Reddit and Steam discussions are just as bad.

I'd stay well clear if I were you OP. The forums will only drag you down mentally.

I'm not sure some understand how to express themselves maturely, or perhaps the veil of the internet allows them to act more cocky than usual.

The only thing ranting succeeds in is a false sense that it's achieving something, when in some cases it makes the person feel even worse!

I completely get that everyone is human and have their breaking points, but logics and factual information will always be more helpful than personal feelings. And it won't hurt other people's feelings while they're at it.

I don't think the negativity is just limited to this forum, tbh. I find a lot of games forums are filled with people who just want to rant and not be very helpful, or who literally cannot for the life of them consider another view before making their statement.

That last is a real issue. Both in gaming and in the world in general.

    "Is there any positivity here?"

If you have to ask, the answer is no.

That said, there's the Wholesome Moments sticky thread and I find Ask The Community to be better than General abour negativity.

I am not one to read entire threads so it may have been said, but that seems to be 1. game forums in general (ppl endlessly complaining) and 2. the vocal minority. Those of us who like the game or even love it simply don't say anything. We just play. It's the sore loser, the angry entitled player, the contrarian, etc...that comes on here and makes forums a cesspool XD Make a circle of friends in the game and you will have plenty of fun and positivity. OR...make positive threads yourself. You will get positive replies (along with the trolls and contrarians)

Not sure I really recalled ever telling people that? Can you point out where I did?

  • ion_eyes
    ion_eyes Member Posts: 46

Then why spend time talking about a game you don't like, or at the very least, there are no or little positive things to talk about?

It's a strange thing. I've played many games in my lifetime. When a game I like goes downhill or just changes directions, I leave and play something else. But it's like those who detest this game just can't leave it alone and find something else to play or to do to occupy their time.

I'm not saying some of their complaints aren't valid. I just see a lot of people saying this game is absolute garbage, it's broken, etc., yet continue to play it or post on the forums.

Are you familiar with the concept of contextual speech and tone? You don't have to say a thing outright to say it.

I understand that you're being intentionally obtuse and trying to be cute, but it's just sad.

Because it has the potential to be something special.

Why continue to vote in elections when the world keeps getting worse? Because there's still potential for it to be better.

Sure, but is it better to say, "[enter political leader or country here] is absolute garbage! You used to be so much better! Now it's terrible! You ruined everything"?

Or to give positive, constructive criticism that can actually be read and taken into consideration? If you had the chance to sit down and talk with your country's leader face to face, which way would you talk to them?

I think it's cool to be able to have a place we can talk to other players and the developers will see what we say here. We should take it and use it the best way we can.

The negativity gets old, and I'm sure the devs read everything whether positive or negative, but it's easier to convince someone to see things your way when you use reason and don't resort to shouting, insults, mudslinging, etc.

    This is the Feedback forum.

People generally give feedback when there's something wrong.

When everything is working fine, people don't bother to announce it to the internet.

I'm not sure what you're expecting.

I've been having a blast with the new retribution in combination with Plaything on killers like spirit, wraith, ghostface, oni, myers, blight, and legion. 75 seconds of aura reading is pretty strong! Haven't really noticed shadowstep at all to be honest.

There is a completely separate forum board for that. This is a "General Discussion" forum.

  • Mister_xD
    Mister_xD Member Posts: 7,669

"Feedback" is related to balancing discussions on specific topics, such as an specific individual Killers nerf / buff.

"General Discussions" is related to many things at once, a lot of which are still aiming to give feedback to the Devs over other areas of the game, such as the NFT controversy that is currently going on.

also a lot of people just post everything in "General Discussions", as thats just the place where 90% of the forum users are at, so if you wanna get feedback / reactions to your posts, "Feedback" isnt gonna be a good choice for you (which is why the mods are so busy moving tons of posts over to there, because everyone posts them in the wrong forum section).

also, like @Seraphor said, people love to focus on the negative things in life.

that is a phenomenon not at all exclusive to this forum, but its actually a very common thing - just look at the News for example, which are usually heavily dominated by negative news stories, with a positive story being a rather rare occurance.

us humans are just wired to take positive things for granted after a short while, meaning the better we have it, the more we start focussing on smaller issues, treating them as worse than they actually are and complaining about them.

i dont know why our brain works like that, but it does. pretty stupid if you ask me, but nothing we can do about that, sadly.

Well obviously the people that continually complain appreciate the game.. There isn't many choices for this kinda game in the market especially for console. I have been playing the game for years and it gets extremely annoying to see BHVR do the same mistakes over and over.. its like 2 steps forward, 1 back. The game is slowly getting better but it takes so long for them to move. And contrary to what you believe the complaints have made BHVR change things before.. adding extra time to events and trying to appease us with Bloodpoints.

Take this new event for instance. We have waited 2 years for a really good Halloween event, ever since the Pustula event. Instead of giving us some kind of alternate objective or fun mini game they reskin the BBQ Summer event from a couple years ago and add a mini rift. They canceled all other events besides their anniversary and Halloween for the last two years to make these two huge btw...its just frustrating....

I really love this game and have put thousands of hours into it on console. But sometimes I just don't understand the decisions that the Dev team makes.

I will on a positive note say that the last patch was one the best patches I have ever seen. The actually adjusted multiple things at once and you can tell they put a lot of hard work into it. It is unfortunate that they said they probably wont have updates as large as that one in the future and that it was just a fluke it all came out together.

I am saying that you shouldn't judge people for calling it how it is.

Don't get me wrong, I used to heavily dislike the negativity around this forum.

Then the NFT deal and yet another botched chapter release happened and everything makes so much sense now.

I like this game a lot and I hate seeing this happen to it.

    There is.

You have to learn to separate it though. Whether it's balancing or company decisions... some concerns are legit, while others are just straight up bait/troll posts.

It's like when you are looking through fruit at the supermarket, and you have to skim through the good ones vs the ones that are on the verge of rotting.

Positivity is ok, and harass devs is not good. However they know that people who complain like the game, and silence is worst, because mean nobody cares. And they also hear loud and clean massive complains, understanding what camera what from the game.

  • ion_eyes
    ion_eyes Member Posts: 46

I get why people are upset about the NFT. I'm not saying all criticism is without merit. It just seems like there's complaining about every minutia within the game, no matter how insignificant. And people who have a rough game come in here and claim the game is broken rather than just taking the L and moving on.

Yeah... this however is a completely different can of worms. Personally, not even I could solve this one. I just believe there's a part of human nature that feels the need to put the blame on something for their losses, for they couldn't envision they did poorly. I lost as a killer so the players had to be on comms. I lost as a survivor because I was tunnelled despite everyone else also being hooked twice. And so on and on.

I just think some people don't grasp the game is asymetric and will likely never be balanced. Personally, I like things that way. I'm just sour right now because of how Behavior's handling things right now.

Behaviour reads the forums. I think being toxic in complaining about something they complain about over and over and over again isn't going to get the changes fixed any faster. It might do the opposite.

If you owned a restaurant and you did what you could to make your menu the best, but one regular comes up to you and yells at you how you never listen to them and you should change the entire menu to fit how they think it should be, would you do it?

Some people around here want Behaviour to somehow stop all tunneling and camping from killers. How are they really supposed to do that? It's silly. So yelling louder isn't going to change anything. Most of the complaints I see are like yelling at a wall because it's blocking their way while refusing to move.

Someone camps? Adapt. Someone tunnels? Adapt.

As far as hacking goes, yeah, that definitely needs to be something that's fixed by Behaviour.

There definitely is, but unfortunately complaints are very common in here, so that's why it seems rather rare.

Also the whole Survivors vs Killers mentality doesn't help the case either. And while there will be always someone who complains no matter what, BHVR is partially being held responsible for this. I know it's a very hard task, but hey never really tried to address the issues. They never tried to give more fun objectives for survivors or rewarding killers for chasing and hooking multiple survivors other than releasing "band aid" temporary solutions in form of perks.

Why not try something new, maybe a new chill game mode, new mechanics, less annoying things, instead of getting new chapter every 3 months.

IMO their repetitive pattern and bad decisions/communication is a big source of negativity here.
