Hacker destroys my ps5, thanks Bhvr :)
We all know this game has a massive hacker problem and that Bhvr isn't doing anything. But did you know that consoles can complete break? I didn't know that but now here I am with one.
Played a normal game as survivor when suddenly the whole map was completely glitched and textures where on different spots then the hit boxes and barieres. The killer hidding it not a bit and uses as a twin tricksters knifes that one ######### people and other stupid stuff. I didn't want to dc because you know... Bhvr bans people for it :) So I just stayed there and did nothing. Suddenly it began to extremely lag before my game froze completely. Well I thought it was my game but my whole console didn't react anymore. I waited a bit and suddenly it just went off completely, not turning on again... Thanks bhvt, now I have to repair it C:

For future reference, BHVR doesn't ban people for DCing, or even quitting a game from the pause screen. Not sure where you got that info, but it's 100% false.
2 -
Could you update us when you find out what's wrong? There's been forum posts about fried routers, but this is a new one.
13 -
DC Penaltys are time bans.
What you said is false.
Not saying DC penaltys should go.
3 -
DC penalties have been disabled for at least 60 hours. Try again.
1 -
What makes you think it was a hacker that somehow fried your PS5?
1 -
Disabled right now but not removed. They will come back.
1 -
Sorry to hear that.

So, as I stated before, they could have DCd. Even if DC penalties WERE active, God forbid someone get a 5 minute ban for a hacker that they've encountered exactly one time.
0 -
Also, a penalty is far different from a BAN. OP was concerned about being banned, which wouldn't happen with one single DC.
1 -
And? He couldnt know before that it may break his PS5 so he might as well just wait the match out and see what happens.
You act like its his fault, just get outta here.
14 -
You act like 5 minutes is a lifetime. I've DCd because of hackers multiple times. Never been banned, considering there's a BIG difference between a ban and a 5 minute timeout.
You get out of here. lol

Seems like you are missing the ability to get the point, have a nice day.

Did you try unplugging and plugging it back in? It isn't the same as what you went through but back around March the PS5 wouldn't work if you put it into sleep mode during certain circumstances and had to unplug it and plug it back In to get it to work

I'm sorry? I dc a few times before and was already by 1 hour. I don't check 24/7 if the DC penalties are on or off.
6 -
Pretty sure they can brick your pc too.
5 -
You are being called out cause you are focussing on the wrong thing.
You shouldn't have to risk losing a very expensive piece of hardware just cause you didn't pull the plug fast enough against a hacker.
The reason why he didn't dc instantly is completly irrelevant to the issue at hand.
The way you worded it also made it sound like you put the blame on them. Which i'm sure wasen't your intention but that's what it looked like
9 -
Bhvr and or EAC should be liable for any hardware damage caused by their inability or refusal to deal with cheaters. That'd make them a bit more interested in dealing with the problem.
14 -
Ive never heard of hackers bricking PS5s, much less PCs, through a Steam game.
1 -
DC Penalty is not a ban. Its a temporary suspension to prevent repeated DC abuse.
That has been discontinued now for a bit, due to the game itself causing DCs until they fix it.
Nowhere have I seen any evidence that a "hacker" can brick a PS5 through DBD, much less a PC.
You are the one throwing around serious terms like "victim blaming" and making implicative accusations of others based on facts you dont know about. We also dont know your intentions either, but it seems that you are just trying to pick a fight over nothing, and jumping onto somekind of gangwagon.
Please stop, and get your facts straight first.

This actually happened to me a couple weeks ago been playing everything on pc since then

I know DC penalties are not a ban. It's irrelivant to what this post is about.
I haven't seen evidence either but we have someone here who's PS5 stopped working after facing one. It could be unrelated but those things aren't cheap so it should be looked into.
And not just brushed away cause he could have DCed. That's not a solution
My intention was to explain why people were bumping heads with them without the use of petty namecalling like the others did.
Not sure how you thought i was speaking fighting words when i even said it probably wasen't their intention.
Not sure what kind of accutations you are talking about either. The only accutations made was that they missed the point of the post and worded their response somewhat poorly. That's not what i would call picking a fight.
Nor do i see any facts i could be missing. This post is here for everybody to read.

dang, I'm sorry that happened. Hope you'll be able to get your console fixed.

Its a fact that DC Penalty is not a ban, is temporary, and the function of which is to prevent DC abuse to wreck matches for others.
Its a fact that nowhere here is there any evidence that a "hacker" bricked a PS5 through DBD.
As to "intentions" you dont know his, and we dont know yours, and nobody started talking about "intentions" till you did.
Ive never heard of a "hacker" bricking a PS5 on DBD. It is however entirely possible that DBD itself bricks a PS5, on its own, if some certain critical functions of it are impaired or overriden whilst running on that platform.
I really dont see what your point has been this entire thread and in your responses in it.
Fact is we dont know that any "hacker" bricked his PS5 through DBD, and frankly that is the LEAST likely of any number of other possible reasons why this specific PS5 in this specific persons use stopped working.

It's literally officially called 'matchmaking ban' because, guess what, it's a ban.
2 -
I'd need to have a really wooden pc to get it bricked. The worst that can happen is somehow the game taking all your RAM and causing a blue screen which will provoke a restart. Never ever heard getting your pc bricked over a video game. Unless somehow you got a virus that somehow overclocked all your stuff it got fried.

Malicious or broken code can definitely damage your system. Myself and one other forum member a couple years ago were playing after an unstable update. The code caused a malfunction in my system that bypassed the overheat safety shutdown, causing the fan to whir louder and louder and a huge power surge to occur that knocked out power to the entire circuit of my house. These types of malfunctions can lead to fires, bricking, or other serious damage to your wiring (and even though I filed a ticket, Behavior failed to address the issue or acknowledge how dangerous what happened was).
While DBD never made the news cycle for this, Anthem did because it was much more wide spread and bricked a significant number of systems. Therefore it's no surprise to me that this could happen. Make sure to file a ticket with Behavior, be detailed in what occurred, and please feel free to use me as a reference if you feel it would help your case. Good luck and I hope they are responsive to this issue.

"Disconnection Penalties: Players who disconnect early from games will receive temporary matchmaking bans, with the duration escalating for repeat offenders."
Its literally officially called a "Disconnection Penalty".
Guess what, calling it a "ban" is a misnomer.

Look up New World and 3090.

But in this case and in yours it wasnt "hackers" that would have caused it. For that, you would have to be running somekind of malware to allow them access to your system.
What you describe above then, if it happened as you described, caused either by BHRV programming or some more local effect in your PC or electrical network.

Yes, like I said, unstable patch on Behavior's end seemed to be the cause. The other person who experienced the failure had it happen within a day of mine, right after said patch. Same scenario where their fan kept getting louder and louder, and fail-safe didn't trip. I'm pretty out of my depth when it comes to the finer details, just wanted you to know there is precedence that games can cause these failures and that DBD has done so specifically in the past.

Wasnt that about a specific type of card being oofed? New nvidia cards have tons of problems.
I doubt UE is capable of messing up anyones hardware tho. Unless its badly manufactured or already damaged.
0 -
Reports are around 3090s but some say 3080s as well. Has something to do with power delivery.
0 -
yeah those cards are quite demanding in terms of power supply. The card itself requires a 650W but its mostly not enough. If you pair it with a good cpu plus other pc parts you'll end up needing a 750w or more.
3 -
BHVR failed to deal with hackers, you failed to get Series X. Bad combo.

Just played a match with contained a hacker. Had hit him twice and he was still alive...infinite Dead Hard. Oh well. Can rest now. Level 1 and Halloween 1 tome done.
0 -
This is probably the worst update in DBD history. So many things are broken that it's frankly impressive, I'm shocked the game even turns on.
2 -
It quite literally goes:
'Matchmaking Ban
You have been temporarily banned from matchmaking for disconnecting from your previous match. You will be allowed to enter matchmaking once the penalty expires.'
Keyword: banned.
3 -
So, you finally have evidence of that actually happening? May we get acquainted with it?

my question is this... How can a hack relocate the textures of other players? Usually anything related to a hack wouldnt do this as they typically are related to client / server communication like where your character currently is vs whats shown on screen. It honestly sounds like faulty hardware.
1 -
Yeah, no. This claim has been pretty much debunked already. Not possible in a sense that you're making it. You probably just got a console with a bad cpu that broke up...
