This 'Console bricking' thing has got me scared

I play on PS5, but i play the PS4 version of the game

I've recently heard about this Bricking thing and its honestly gotten me worried that someone is gonna break my PS5. I may have found a way to fix it if it does happens, but i'd rather not let it happen and risk it.

I've heard people say to turn crossplay off, but someone said they could still get in.

What can i do? I haven't seen anything weird lately in the game, but i'm still worried

Devs, can you please do something about the hackers. You can't let hackers continue to break into your system, what they're doing is a crime.

I don't know if thess things are confirmed.

I believe it's possible, but I'd like to see a little more evidence.

It's reasonable to be nervous. I suggested on turning off crossplay to tone down the hackers. But, really the safest option is just quick take a break from dbd until any comments are released. Not boycott, no it's not dbd's fault if these rumors are real, it's just the safest option in case that's the case.

Hey, you probably saw me post in one of those threads. I didn't have mine bricked, but I did have a surge occur that blew my circuit breaker. A surge like that that overrides a failsafe in the console can definitely do permanent hardware damage (I was contracted directly to one of the 3 console makers for 6 years as a system refurbisher, not stating which one due to NDAs, so please understand).

But I would not worry too much, as even when this happened to me in 2018, only one other person mentioned the same instance. So we're most likely talking 2 cases amongst several hundred thousand players. I can't speak for the other people making claims, but I can let you know there was a tell-tale sign for me that the console is going to overheat, and that's that the fan will start to get incredibly loud, far above the norm. You would probably have to do a hard shut off with the power switch to stop this, but then you risk corrupting your system data (though again, typically you can do a quick system rebuild and be on your way, like if you had an unexpected power outage from a storm).

I hope this puts you at ease a little bit, but if you do experience any unusual operation with your system, make sure to reach out to support both through Sony and Behaviour so you can document your issue. But again, this seems to be incredibly rare.
