What do you think makes an M1 Killer?

I just realized that different people have different opinions on which Killers are "M1 Killers"

In my opinion, an M1 Killer is a 115% Killer with no damaging ranged attack (without addons) that has to get the majority of their downs by literally hitting someone with their basic attack. Essentially, the Killers that are good with the perk Jolt (Surge).

Here are the Killers I consider M1 Killers: Trapper, Wraith, Myers, Doctor, Freddy, Pig, Legion, Ghost Face and Pinhead. They're all mid/low tier Killers none of them are top-tier.

What do you consider an M1 Killer? Does your list look different than mine?

Pretty much my definition of M1 killer as well. Clown should be included, however. Spirit also technically counts.

Spirit, Nurse and Hag could be considered M1 killers by your definition them. All of them use Surge very well.

For me, M1 killers are the killer who submit themselves to the traditional looping while also having no M2 attack to deal with them. Unlike killers like Nurse and Huntress who can basically shred through loops they only rely on mindgames and somehow a mediocre power to help them.

To me M1 killer isn't a specific killer but a specific situation. For example:

    • Trapper away from any of his traps,
    • Clown against most dropped pallets,
    • Legion/Plague against injured survivors,
    • Pig, Myers and Ghostface but with slight exceptions,

...and a bunch more would be M1 killers.

An M1 killer is a killer who doesn’t really use their power to down survivors most of the time, or have a power consistently within chase, killers like Trapper and Legion (without franks mixtape+SWS) are M1 killers as their power isn’t consistently with them or cannot down survivors with their power

Killers where they either always have their power with them and it can down survivors consistently (Spirit, Billy, Bubba for example) aren’t m1 killers

EDIT: forgot to finish it lel

To me a M1 killer is a character who use mostly basic attacks and has no reliable way to deal with loops consistently.

Nurse, Spirit and Hag only use basic attacks, but Nurse and Spirit get around looping easily, while Hag just doesn't really engage in conventional chases at all if she can avoid it.

In contrast, Doctor and Clown both have some way to make looping them more difficult, but that mostly make unsafe loops deadly. There is not much they can do against pre-dropped pallets at stong loops. In addition Clown can run out of bottles and Doctor's power slow him down a bit, so he can actualy lose distance if he mess up the timing.

You could make the argument that some killers are half-M1. Like Legion who can easily injure every survivor, but need to finish them with M1. Or Ghostface who in an opportunistic Stalker, trying to get insta downs when he can get away with it, but also relying a lot on surprise M1. But I wouldn't call Myers M1, because he depend heavily on snowballing with EW3 (without mirror gimmicks).

If every hit applies sloppy they’re an M1 killer

An m1 killer is a killer whos only direct means of damage is their basic attack

Trapper is an M1 killer because the traps are indirect damage

Oni is an m2 killer because he has the ability to directly do damage outside of his basic atack.

Any killer that has not direct tool to aid in chase.

Trapper and Nurse are good examples, as even though Trapper's traps can help end chases, they aren't used directly in chase to down the survivor.

Nurse is not considered an m1 killer because her power is used at all times and most notably in chase.

So basically, if they have a power that damages/downs or directly aids in damaging during a chase, they are not an m1 killer. (Billy, Nurse, Huntress, Plague, Demo, Pyramid Head, Blight, Trickster, Nemesis, Twins, Pig, Bubba, Spirit.)

Oni and Legion are somewhere in between, but while Legion is an m1 killer because he can't reliably down with his power, Oni is only an m1 killer until he gets a survivor injured.
