Happy anniversary, Nightmare on Elm Street!
Greetings killers, survivors, and both-siders of the Fog. I hope this celebration finds you doing well!
Today is a very special day for all of us! On 26 of October, 2017, Freddy Krueger, Quentin Smith and the Badham Preschool made their way into the Fog. Dead by Daylight had just released what was, is, and always will be its best and most unique chapter ever.
To celebrate this occasion, I cordially invite all of you to share your best moments regarding the ANOES Chapter. Perhaps you have a interesting victory as Freddy. Perhaps a daring escape with Quentin. Or maybe a memorable trial on Badham.
It could also be a screenshot, if you do have one. Like this one, from the official trailer:
Anyway, I hope to see what your best stories with this amazing chapter are!
Just, please, refrain from speaking about Freddy's reworked power. I don't need to be reminded of that :)

Also I do have a screenshot to share

And a very good one it is, my friend! That add-on was very fun to use, one of my favorites tbh.
1 -
All of his add-ons were my favorite as they were all good
Imagine how good he would be nowadays with all the TR removing perks, imagine him with Plaything
2 -
Honestly, yes, all of his add-ons were indeed very good. I loved all of them.
Imagine his return! Oh, glorious day that needs to happen ASAP!
2 -
I forgot how cool those soul faces looked with his old power
2 -
I mean, I was already thinking of getting Freddy, but this has pushed me over the fence. :)
1 -
They looked very cool indeed. Everything about him did.

I mean, he is not the same anymore...but still worth it, imho.

just got him! :)

I really miss old Freddy. He was really cool and unique, and he actually scared me when I would go against him.
I remember one of my first matches against Old Freddy, I was running around the map when I suddenly heard a weird lullaby and one of my teammates got downed near me. I went and hid behind a tree, then I saw them get picked up by an invisible force and taken to a hook. At that point I was like "what kind of killer is that?" (I knew nothing about ANOES at the time). Later that game, I decided to work on a gen and then all of the sudden I hear that lullaby again and I see this random creepy guy (Freddy) phasing in and out of my view. I started to freak out and ran away from the gen where Freddy proceeded to follow me (at that point I was already in the dream world) and hit me. I was genuinely terrified. Man, I really miss those times.

If only they can revert the Freddy changes so I can play as his old version 😔
1 -
So do I, my friend. I really miss those times, and I dare say I miss them more than anyone does.
I remember my first match against Old Freddy, back in December of 2018. It was on old Rotten Fields.
I had already played as him, since he was my very first killer, and I was really excited to be facing him. It was almost like I was facing myself.
Easily one of the best trials I've ever played.
I want my game back.
1 -
I’ll still never forget my 2 matches against old Freddy. One was against a really good one who managed to 4 k without add ons and the other used an old ivory mori and old dying light
As for new Freddy I play him occasionally but I’d still love to play old Freddy at some point
1 -
It needs to happen.

I've faced Old Freddy many times, and some of them unforgettable. I remember that one Freddy during the Moonrise event. I was pretty confident and thought I would be able to read him like a book...until he caught me off-guard with Blood Warden, right when I was about to escape with my vessel.
And playing as him...pure perfection.
1 -
Honestly old Freddy might have had the highest skill ceiling of any killer at the time barring nurse. Knowing how to use glimpses, split pressure and force survivors awake at certain times was very hard to pull off
A killer being weak is fine imo so long as they have a unique niche they fit into. New Freddy is not only bad atm but extremely boring and uninspired
2 -
Yeah, his skill ceiling was indeed extremely high at the time. Though I do think he was in need of a few buffs, he was way stronger than most people think.
His on-release version was, in my honest opinion, the only killer in DBD to ever achieve a perfect power.
New Freddy is a disgrace. We really need our old killer back.

This screenshot was used for a small guide on how to survive against Freddy when he released. That Old Autohaven in the background makes me really happy.
The chad Quentin player here trying to open the gate and save his team while there was a virgin player who disconnected.
Some things never change, huh?
This one is official, and it came straight for the promotional art. Look how good and foggy the Dream World looks, instead of the mess that it currently is.

And this...this might be one of my favorites:

Freddy was the first killer I ever played against & on badham too.
I was Meg had no idea what I was doing beyond the basic premise, I missed a skill check in the house basement room.
Freddy came & a Dwight blocked me on the stairs until freddy took me out the Dwight then proceeded to farm me to death off the hook!
Old freddy was one of my core killer rotations at the time now I only use him for dailes & even then usually delete a lot of them.
Would have preferred an englund style skin but just like the movies new freddy isn't remotely as good or fun as the old version.
1 -
First killer I faced was actually a Huntress, but thankfully it didn't take me long to face my favorite.
I actually prefer the remake over the original movies, not to mention that his remake is more accurate to his in-game old version. Still, I agree with the second part.
New Freddy is nothing but a disgrace. Old Freddy is the killer we want, need, and deserve.

@Almo Old Freddy coming back when? 👁 👁

Hopefully ASAP.

Hopefully, I don't mind unique M1 killers. I know most people prefer rush down map pressure killers, but I personally love killers that have more personality to them like Freddy, Ghostface, and Michael

One last screenshot before this anniversary ends!
I would like to thank everyone who commented here and joined my small celebration.

A funny thing I remember about Freddy was just after the Ghostface release, where you could run Furtive Chase with the Red Paint Brush to get wallhacks while in chase (after 2 stacks, anyway). Probably the only good use for the terror radius reduction from that perk, honestly.
Here's hoping we'll be able to play as him again one day. He was really fun and unique.
2 -
And look who it is! It wouldn't have been a proper ANOES thread without a comment of yours, my friend.
And hey, I remember that time too! Getting Furtive Chase was literally the sole reason why I decided to level up Ghostface, but eventually I gave up in order to go for Myers perks, that I had not gotten yet.
Good memories of a better time, when DBD provided me with a level of enjoyment that no other game could. To this day, 2018 - early 2019 is still the best game I've ever played, and Old Freddy was an extremely important aspect of it.

Playing Old dbd and seeing old freddy and playing as him, really did make me realize how sad the current Freddy really is, sure he might be better, but they could of turned him into a tier up killer who gains power as the trial goes on, where only towards the end is he able to interact with awake survivors.
This way he'd still feel unique, but not in a weak way, he'd also feel more rewarding.
Man I really need to finish my Freddy rework I was working on...

To be honest with you, my friend, there is only one power for Freddy I would ever accept.
0 -
Then I aim to surprise ;)
0 -
I don't doubt your skills. I know you can come up with an interesting concept.
But for Freddy...I am devoted to his on-release power regardless.
1 -
There is still time for one more:

Playing new freddy with blood pallets, poor dweet brought power struggle. 'Nuff said.

Funnily enough, Old Freddy wasn't even rated 'Hard" when the difficulty ratings were first introduced, back in 2018. He was "Intermediate".
And yes, I believe his on-release power combined with Dream Projection would be perfect. I've actually suggested this change many times.

Seeing all these old Freddy images makes me want to play the old version more and more :(
Oh well, time to binge-watch a bunch of old Freddy vids on YT.
1 -
Oh and while I'm here, can we take a moment to remember how old Freddy could be invisible while picking up a survivor?
It was silly, but also very canonical and would always bring me into the atmosphere. Iirc Freddy in the films was able to throw around/pull people around in the real world while they were dreaming. I think it's still possible with Pill Bottle, but it just doesn't appear as often anymore :(

If I may:
This one is a personal favorite.

Coincidentally, I was playing House of Ashes today, and 15 minutes into the game (during the segment after the mission briefing) one of the Marines was eerily whistling the main chord to ANOS’s theme.
was kinda spooky👻
1 -
There are no coincidences, my friend :)
1 -
agreed! that’s why I got chills when I heard it👻😵
1 -
Good thing this moment is forever preserved here.
1 -
Agreed!
Seeing your fellow survivors getting taken to a hook by an invisible force could be quite spooky sometimes. Everything about this killer was just so damn amazing!
