I dont get it.

Why do people complain about the meta and how it needs to change, yet when it does everyone freaks out?

It baffles me as well. I love how people will just complain and complain that the meta should change but then as soon as it does, they complain about that! I think people just want an excuse to whine and whinge when don't do well in a match.

It’s more I think people want the current meta to be nerfed do some of the old builds can come back. Not making a new meta that is stronger than the last.

As a killer main i think Dead Hard and Borrowed Time are a little to powerful, but my time talking to Survivors it seems they really hate NOED, but NOED is essential if you want to break the Survivor meta easily.

I mean metas can only change by nerfing the meta perks, or power creeping the game to the point that meta perks no longer become meta.

CoH is definitely a power creep move, and I think people are just a little upset right now that that's the route the devs took to help change the meta.

Now whether or not power creep is a good thing is up for debate, but it's always going to have rough transitional periods where players resist and adjust. This period will typically last until the other perks and sides in the game start evening out through future adjustments and additions.

    ---

That said, I'm in the resist group for this and do think CoH (in particular its self-healing times) need to be nerfed a bit.

Because it needs to change in a good healthy way ?

Like, godly played nurse is the best killer in DBD since her release, not debate.

Should we make killer who instakills survivors just by hitting them once to change still prevalent 2016 nurse meta ?

No because that's not healthy for DBD's gameplay. If it were to change, we need a well designed killer who has weaknesses equal to the strenght to top nurse (even when that won't happen).

Same for everything in DBD, just because something changes doesn't mean it's good. Changes need to have positive impact on if possible every aspect of what was changed or at least majority of them.

I don't get why anyone even cares about the meta. Who cares? Play to have fun. You aren't going to get rich off this game.

People want current meta nerf, not even stronger stuff to be added

    Because of power creep.

Any perk that even sniffs being meta is bonkers busted.

I think people just like to whine. Winning as much as possible is secondary.

I just randomize my build each trial, using a randomizer app.

From experience as both survivor and killer, I don't need metas at all to beat those with metas. In fact, one odd thing with me that's noticeable is that the worse the build, the better I seem to perform on average, probably because I'm more focused on mindgames, skill and instinct.

Also, using unexpected perks can completely throw people, especially if I can manipulate people to think I have a perk when I don't. If downed after being recently unhooked, I'll sometimes move towards the killer, and on occassion they think I have DS when I don't, or as killer I'll note where survivors have run to who aren't in chase, and when I've hooked I'll move in a direction initially not near a gen or look around, so survivors may mistake me for having BBQ.

Sure, there are perks that are useful more often, and some which only offer marginal help, or are strong but too specific, but really I have more fun mixing them up and utilising strengths of lesser-expected perks or faking perks. If people just took that chance, then the game becomes infinitely more fun!

OhTofu occassionally does randomized builds; HybridPanda does builds that include both survivor/killer perks that appear on the Shrine, and there are others who mess about with random builds or fun builds. If people get bored of the game, this really does improve things. I reckon if all I did was use Meta perks, then I would have stopped playing ages ago.

I think people will be happy when they will win all their games with no efforts.
