On Average, how many times a day do you get disconnected

1.) I'm not talking about just one survivor DCs or the killer rage quits, but on average in a given day how often do you get disconnected from a game through no fault of your own?

2.) How many bloodpoints do you lose on a given day from these dcs? (Please try to give a reasonable estimate)

3.) How adversely does this affect your enjoyment of the game?

    Not a single one.

I avoid days when patch goes on live servers cause it's buggy mess full of DC, crashes, etc. And outside of it my game doesn't crash.

Along with this I am curious why when a survivor dcs the killer gets abandoned bonus points, but when the killer dcs the survivors get hit with a banned timed penalty and lose there points for the match. Seems a bit like a double standard.

Today I've had two killers dc, both times we were running multiple bloody streamers and cakes. I also got 20 minutes of banned play and I estimate just today I lost around 150,000 points. This happens all the time. The grind is hard enough, but to steal players points away from them seems so egregious. In both cases it did not seem like a rage quit as it was mid-game. I did have one rage quit as the four of us were running out the door which was a pretty clear form of abusive play.

    Not a single time.

Globally it doesn't even happen one time a month. Game is pretty stable for me now. Playing on PC.

Wow! A lot of you guys have it way way better than the rest of us. This is a daily occurrence for some of us. I've switched internet providers twice and have maxed out my connection speed for my area. I am guessing there must be a wonky node somewhere which is unavoidable in Ohio.

U don't get Dc ban for killer Dc. U get it only if u DC yourself.

Never get DC myself.....but had a match today where I had 3 people dc on me when I was killer. One DCd when their fellow survivor wanted to keep a chase going around her, the 2nd DCd after I hit her through a window and as I picked her up he DCd (probably trying to get the glitch to happen) and the last was a ACTUAL DC because they got DCd while on the hook but he was still there and went all the way through the sacrifice animation. Never had 3 survivors DC on me before it was kinda weird TBH. Was going to let the last one go but I needed her for a Tangled Hook challenge.

I played since release only roughly 300 hours and I had less than 5 DC in that time. 2 at the re chapter release this year and twitch that my first and only 5 min timeout.

Edit: oh i forgot one intentional DC after getting run by a whole group around a fat shaming spot, creating an infinite, 3 years ago.

Usually once, but only if I play past midnight as Steam goes down for maintenance kicking all Steam players out of the game until it's done.

    Very very rarely.

except for obvious bugs that may come with new updates of course. But other than those -and if I ever play Tuesday nights when Steam Server maintenance occurs- never really..

Probably once a day because DBD puts me into a lobby with 200+ ping. No way I'm playing that man.

That’s you disconnecting, not the game disconnecting you.

Zero. Might happen once every two weeks. Or on Tuesday when Steam refreshes, if I forget to watch out for it.

Maybe once or twice a month and it's always my internet not anything the game or I did.

Also apperently steam refreshes on Tuesdays so it may also be just that as well.

Naw, we have three computers in the house, none of the other computers get disconnected. PC log shows internet never disconnected. But, that is a good possibility for others to explore if they have similar problems. TY

FYI I was replying to Myla, not you, Stvnthr. Myla said they intentionally disconnect when they see the game puts them in a match with high ping players.

    sorry, my bad.

anyways just happened again. Seems to happen more now that I enabled crossplay with console players. I can confirm it is not my internet as I am logging my connection. I never lose internet, so is there such a thing as a flaky server?

Screen shows killer dc'd and I get the penalty, but this time I got my escape points. So it seems to just be more of the console killer dcs and it effects PC players.

So I am thinking either you get it on the regular or seldom if ever, seems like a server problem. Since it isn't my internet connection I'm wondering if we can determine the bad node or server which people in regions get routed through. Does anyone know of an app which will show you which server you are being routed through?

On the plus side once in a blue moon I get a game which runs super smooth and it is like I've entered a god-mode cheat because my character is super responsive and my game runs like a dream; no lag for prompts and fewer crazy hitbox bad hits. I would love to be able to play like this all the time because it is way more fun.

    Bennett_They1Them Member Posts: 2,513

Lag either decides "you're playing spirit now" regardless of which killer I queued as, or the game plays smoothly and perfectly.

that, or I have over a 1000 ping (not hyperbole) and I dodge the lobby and wait a while.

  • ThiccBudhha
    ThiccBudhha Member Posts: 6,987

Never. Unless you count those lobbies where someone leaves before the game loads. In which case, maybe one out of every 5 when I am survivor. As killer, maybe one in 20. No idea why there is such a huge discrepancy there as killers are not usually the ones chasing the lobby when I am on survivor.

Thank you for the replies! This has been so helpful. I assumed everyone was having the same bad experience. It seems to be regional, either you always get good results or you are in one of the bad zones where the limitations of technology keep punishing you. Thanks again. I guess I know what i have to do, sell my house and move so I get better matches.

Only on Steam maintenance day, usually. Otherwise, maybe once or twice a week if you include someone disconnecting during loading or when new chapter releases come out with their usual bugs.

    Oh boy...

1: Multiple times... only when i get a hacker in a lobby (my luck is so ######### rn with hackers. just before my tourney, i was playing pubs all day. got 7-8 hackers in one day, then i got like 12-13 hackers a week prior,)

    2: Mmmm... i'd say i'm missing around 300k to 400k, maybe more..

3: Never been a fan of this.. hated it always to force dc if i get a hacker that just takes my game hostage, then thinking it was "Fun" For them..

Happened again, killer dc's or loses connection, everyone gets kicked from match and I end up with a 30 minute penalty for playing well. So I think we are seeing a pattern. The survivor is not dcing or losing network connection, the killer is; this boots everyone from the game and survivors get the penalty for something on the server side between the killer and their connection; something totally out of the players control.

First thing that needs fixed is removing the insane penalties. This game punishes you for playing correctly; that is a major problem. People have wildly different experiences for reasons beyond their control, this is on the DEVs to fix. I think resetting penalties and their punishments to zero every day is the move to make and don't have a penalty over 15 minutes. For those who do not have this problem on the daily, please understand you are lucky but other players have a really bad situation. We constantly get punished for doing good; that is demoralizing.

Other than the game not starting because someone disconnected during loading, I think I've been disconnected from a game (by the games fault, not my own) maybe once in a year of playing.

Another killer dc'd, I never lost connection as the network monitor shows, but I got an hour ban. Seriously, this is some total nonsense. Probably lost over 60k of bloodpoints with the cakes played.

Think about this, played for over twenty minutes, did not go down once. Had one gen left, me and another player (we were the only two left alive) totally turned the game around, went from one gens done to finishing 3 more gens in 5 minutes. Maxed out most categories of points (bold, repair, heal, chase, safe hooks, etc.) The reward for playing exceptionally well? No points and an hour ban.

The last time I got disconnected from dbd was over a year ago when my power went out

6 hour ban for playing a normal game, I did not dc and did not lose internet connection. You can see in the lower left corner that I never lost connection. If I was Behaviour I would throw every available employee at fixing this massive cluster muck, but that is me. I would tend to think it is a problem to constantly screw over your customers, but what do I know.

I think if lost connection ONCE in like a year? Was wifi trouble on my end though, just waited for the issue to resolve and all working fine.
