Does anyone ever see Survivors giving pity/apology hooks?

Same as title, I was just curious. From both perspectives I see Killers constantly giving people hatch or letting multiple Survivors heal+escape if the Killer feels like they played a bit unintentionally mean, the other Survivors screwed that particular team member over or the Survivors played so badly the Killer felt bad about getting a 4K. I do this very often myself, but I have yet to ever see the reverse situation.

Why is that? There's very clearly a lot of lovely people playing this game, so it's weird that this only really shines through when the Killer instigates it and that the absolute best you get from Survivors is them standing directly next to the exit so they can leave instantly when hit.

I hate survivors that stay there, so I have to walk there and just leave before I can get a hit...

I got free hooks, but that was because I let them recover several time etc., never when they actually managed to win on their own.

When I play survivor I sometimes give the killer a free kill/hook - if they were nice or if I think they got ruined...

Defo do and see that more than I see survivors getting hatch...

I have seen instances of these happening but it's very rare and I have done it a few times too when I felt especially bad when I knew the killer was clearly inexperienced or he was got screwed over by an obvious cheater survivor.

I've never seen it. But, I would imagine it's much easier for a killer to break character and give up the goods, because the killer doesn't have three other teammates who need to play along. Ultimately, though, there is a clear bias against killers. Which is weird, because this game's entire premise revolves around them.

There's a culture around bullying Killers tons of videos promoting these kind of stuff since the beginning and it just naturally got ingrained to the community over the years they follow what they seen online and bring a flashlight here and there. Though in 2021 I think there's actually a lot of killers content creators popping up now so that's great.

That IS great - I've not seen new killers really but tru3 and Otz, but even Otz can be survivor sided (get them viewers). I mean I've gotten tired of the Ayruns, Ochis, Probzz, etc.. They all do exactly the same thing, well I think Ochi was banned forever, but everyone else is just a N00b3 copycat.

Sometimes I think that the devs balance the game in this way because youtubers and streamers that bully the killer are free advertising for the game. Also the fact that a lot of newer players I see that have no effing clue what they're doing, will click their flashlight and spin in place while I stand there and watch them, before I hit them. I think they're supposed to 360... but I'm guessing they're just really new, and really into Ayrun.

I gave free Hooks in the past. Mainly during Double BP-Events, but I stopped doing it. Sometimes Survivors want to give me Kills, usually after a bad game, but I dont take them. If I lost, I lost. But it happened sometimes, just a few days ago while I am struggling to get my Trickster-Tome...

The number of times the Killer gave me the Hatch or let me escape decreased over time. It rarely happens at all, but most of the time I also dont take it. A few days ago some Nurse player (apparently this guy had a 203 4K streak at once, 4 Slowdown-Perks, double Recharge), wanted to let me do some Gens and get out. I just went afk. Like, its nice, but it wont make a bad game experience good if I am allowed to escape.

I do it sometimes. If I fight a killer who I felt deserved the kill or got robbed by a bad map/rng I’ll let them kill me

All Billy’s are guaranteed sacrifices to me as well

Been playing for several years now, yeah I've come across it a decent amount (I'm from south pacific region if that helps). I usually play pretty nice so survivors often do try to give me pity hook, I usually refuse because if I wanted to kill them I would. Usually when I refuse they just don't leave the trial and let themselves get killed by the entity even though I keep tryna drop them at the exit.

I make a few chase, drop pallets (1000), stun killer a few time (3000). I make 2 safe unhook (3000), heal a few time (2000). I do alone Gen (1250) and a Coop Gen (2500). Do double Hex (3000). Success some skill check (3000).

And I get only 20.000 BP for the most perfect play, if I dont escape. Survivors have to escape for that rich BP earn (5000).

If I can earn much more BP without have to escape...

I think the main reason is that an escape for the survivor is 5k points or more (=a huge chunk of their earnings), while for the killer giving hatch means very little point-wise. Plus killers most of the times (at least in my experience) refuse the offer of a pity kill and would rather escort the survivor to the exit and make them leave.

Survivors giving free hooks or kills in 2021? Lmao no, I haven't seen a survivor giving pity to the killer in years.

No matter how you play or anything, there is absolutely no way a survivor will give a free hook when they can BM at the exit gate, it is what it is.

I have let the killer kill me few times after having a bad match. Honest though it can come across as BM though.

As a killer id personally just love if you guys can just get out without standing at the doors waiting until the last second wasting my time. Just go and type GG and thats it...thats all we need.

I don’t think I’ve ever been offered a pity hook, and I wouldn’t want one either way. I’d rather lose knowing my opponents played well then get pity points. (Likewise I don’t give survivors pity escapes, I treat them how I’d want to be treated.)

I have seen survivors run up to me to ragequit though. Definitely a jerky move there.

A lot. Even let a Myers tombstone me the other day just because, i was at the exit gate but his wee sad face was just too cute so i went back in and let him do his thing. Its fun.

I'd rather people just left as soon as the doors open than offer me free hooks/kills. Once the doors open if I'm not in a chase I believe I can win I'll just start patrolling around the map to see if there's any pallets I didn't destroy and such instead. But survivors almost always just stand there at the very edge until there's but seconds left on the timer. It's so annoying, nearly up there with vault spammers and clickers.

Edit: Only time I was ok with people doing that was when I played Tomestone Myers and managed to grab one of them out of the exit after they left and kill them. Looked funny as I was holding no one, just stabbing the air and yet the guy that escaped was suddenly killed when it was done.

I've offered if the Killer seemed to be really out-matched, and especially if on top of it, the other survivors are being jerks to the Killer to add insult to injury. I just stop, point at the hook. Most times though, the Killers don't accept it. Not sure if it's that they don't understand.

I've also seen people stay purposely to get taken by the Entity to give Killers some kills. It's not common though. Since SBMM, I've almost never had a Killer give me the hatch either (I don't expect it, but I've noticed it's become incredibly rare as opposed to 6 mos ago).

Having someone give themselves up for a hook (in a non-farming match) has happened to me with the frequency that I've seen Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster. Or been abducted by aliens. Or ... you get the point. I won't say "never", as there have been the VERY few occasions someone has tried to do so. I don't want to take the pity hooks -- if I got my head handed to me, it's okay if everyone escapes. I'll just move on to the next match.

The one exception is when I'm playing Pig and end up embracing the memes when people want to Boop. I've had matches like those that turned into huge farming games where survivors, at the end, refused to leave (even when I tried carrying them to the exit) and chose to die to EGC with me. Those were instances where I couldn't save them even if I tried, lol, and I did appreciate the gesture in those instances (and those tended to be games where everyone racked up BP, even the survivors who died).

I've given so many mercy hatches and doors as killer, and as survivor I've been the recipient of so many mercy hatches and doors -- those numbers dwarf the times as killer I've gotten even an offer of something similar. It's not even remotely close.

I've seen survivors give me hits or hooks.

I even specifically remember two moments, the first one was when I swung my weapon at a survivor and on my screen I him but the game just was like naw. The survivor actually came back to the other side of the window and looked at me until I hit him, vaulted the window and we went on with our chase. Assuming even he was like, yeah that should have hit.

The second time was a similar situation where I was chasing a survivor as demo and used his shred attack, during the shred demo made like a 45 degree turn and broke a breakable door instead of hitting the survivor directly infront of me... Both me and the survivor stopped looked at each other and stood there for a second, the survivor used the come her animation so I hit them... let them get some distance and started the chase.

There have been more but those are two moments that will always stick in my head for some reason.

It does happen but usually only for the survivor to end the game when there are to many gens still going and his team is already downed, sacrificed or hooked.I will usually give this survivor the hatch.

In previous discussions on the forums, it seems most killers do not enjoy free kills. And as Clowning stated, is often seen as BM

As Killer I give the survivor who earned it or got screwed the hatch or bring him/her to the exit gate.

As survivor I do the same with kills.

I offer him my flashlight and show him with hook I want to die on.

But after this chase, where i wan't even injured. We had 4 healthy survivor 2 of wich was on death hook and 1 out of 3 gen left to do in differen corners of raccon city police department. He just went to gates and opened them and let us leave. I tried to get his attention and pointed at hook. But he just downed me and pushed to escape... i said sorry in end game chat. and recived just " >:( "...

I've given apology hooks before when I'm clearly against a new killer or another teammate was bullying them, and when I play friendly or spare everyone from a compound screw-up, I often have survivors offering themselves up at the end of the game.

I also once had a survivor come up to me and offer a kill after I had a really, really bad game between flashlights and chained tiles and went into a corner to give up. Didn't take it, though - them offering was enough to lift my mood.

Well, it's nice to hear it sometimes happens at least. I'm gonna go do all the gens to help my own team and then throw myself at Killers to make them feel better now, maybe I'll start a trend.

i try to give a free kill at the end to be nice but literally half the time the killer just refuses to do it, so i just leave to not waste time waiting out the egc

they earn more bps than me anyway so it's not that big of a deal

I've been playing for around 250 hours now, at least 200 of those as killer.

    I've never seen this.

    Not once.

That said, I really don't want free kills. It feels a bit BM, especially with how many survivors do this at the start of the match, probably to smurf down their MMR.

I'd much rather you ease up on gens and give me some good chases.

Has a killer ever let 4 survivors escape? Yes. But it is about as common as survivors giving a hook and yes I have seen both. No, letting 1 person escape is not the same as letting a killer kill you.

I'll sometimes give pity hooks and let myself get killed. There are a surprising amount of killers that refuse to though, easily over 50%. Many will shake their head, or down me then drop me at the exit. More than once I've had to wait out the ECG if I really wanted to give them the kill, but sometimes it feels like BMing if I have to wait too long for it.

From my perspective, you don't see killers giving hatch not nearly as much as you used to in the past. I do see survivors offering to be hooked and you didn't see much of that at all in the past. This is my personal experience anyway.
