Dead by Daylight makes people rage, why?
I have seen many threads on this forum, with people getting very angry over things it the game, flashlights, tea-bagging, camping, tunnelling, bad hits etc. Why? It's just a game, not reallife.
This video made me laugh as somebody tried not to rage over it.

This. Love losing games not because I'm bad but because I get matched with potatoes, making my MMR score get even lower, giving me even more potatoes.

Because they can't stand to lose?

Play it for long enough and you will find out. And people rage in just about every other game.
Yes it is silly, but we just get so wrapped up in a game sometimes. The people you should be worried about are the ones sending death threats to people when they are upset.
Dead by daylight makes you lose patience and is very unsatisfying at times. That's the gist of it.

Because the way this game is, lots of the time when you lose it feels like it was out of your control and there are so many variables that it makes it VERY easy to blame the game rather than yourself

I think as with most games it’s an issue of sunk cost fallacy. When you spend time on something you want that time to be fulfilling, and if it’s not it leads to frustration. Couple that with most people have inflated ego’s when it comes to skill and how good they are even more frustration is had.
It isn’t exclusive to DBD either, fighting games, shooters, and MOBA’s generate just as much salt, if not more than DBD. I believe it’s also due to a lack of maturity. Myself as an example, I’d get way more frustrated when I was a teen, now I don’t care, if I get frustrated I quit and go do something else.

It's not a fair game. It's not balanced by design. RNG affects outcomes way too much and being out-perked almost never feels good.

As even-keeled as I try to be about DBD and gaming in general, excitement and fun can become rage if you get denied satisfaction - the bubbly anticipation of something good can quickly boil into anxiety and frustration given the wrong stimulus. It helps to find in-game methods of self-soothing, especially interactive ones with button presses and audiovisual feedback, so that what's already directed at the game has somewhere to go.

I play this game because I love horror but I play this because it's so dumb. It's like everything bad in game design on display. Rather funny.

I get mad when the game screws me.

My view is the game makes me laugh. It has a lot of problems with hit boxes, game mechanics, balancing and so on, but I just take it has fun. If a player is toxic, then it is funny, like a reality show that purposely set out to cause trouble for entertainment. Not that I do things on purpose, but some survivors get salty cause you just killed them, some killers get salty if you out loop them and escape.
If I get hit and it was something stupid then it is like slapstick TV. If I am in an unbalanced game the it pushes me to improve and if I lose, then at least I have not been beat by somebody worse then me. If its the other way round then I help other players to improve or escape, it makes me feel useful.
We are gamers, we are born to try to win, the thing is to learn that it is just a game.

Entitlement and Ego... 'nuff said.

Because everyone plays this game way too seriously.
If we all played with the mindset we bring to KYFs, things would mellow a bit.

Any gane with a concept of teamplay make people rage because they feel like they have no control over the outcome.

Some people just get mad at games. I usually don't but I get REALLY mad at other stupid stuff like getting my shirt caught on doorknobs *shakes fist*

Killers used to 4k and with the new sbmm they play against survs with the same level as them, and they think they deserve the 4k

No one likes losing, and no one likes their fun taken away from them. Fun is subjective though. Some enjoy face camping and hitting survivors on hook, some enjoy clicking their flashlights non stop and making their pixel characters do way too much squats for their own good.
At the end of the day, it’s a video game. People want to have fun, and if they’re not having fun it turns to sadness or rage.
