Bhvr is pushing killers to camp and tunnel
It seems like every patch lately they are coming out with something to shut down killer strategies. Killers try to snowball nope CoH will take that, ok well we will slug then yeah we're releasing a anti slug boon. So now the only strategies a killer has is camp and tunnel for pressure or end up with 4 hooks and a 4 man out. I don't understand what they are thinking severely wearing killer strategies but not giving us anything to make up for it. I don't like camping or tunneling but it seem like lately its the only consistent strategy to apply pressure.

my advice is to not focus on a 4k, but instead just having fun. try a meme build without cheap tactics; if you win, that's awesome, if not, you were running a meme build.
8 -
This sounds sensible but when you think about it...isn't.
If killers are just supposed to give up and meme around because it's not possible to really 'win' on certain killers against certain tactics, then it means that something is busted balance wise.

I think that this game is best like D&D (shared storytelling) rather than an Esport. my point was to play seriously, but focus on having fun, and not victory. also, is facecamping honestly fun for anyone?
5 -
You're pushing yourself to camp and tunnel nobody else is forcing you to do it.
Play for fun and stop looking at it like it's your job.
25 -
I don't camp or tunnel so I do eat alot of 4 man outs but its not just about me its the killer side is just losing any press makimg ability. I also want to point out that camping and tunneling aren't cheap tactics they are only seen that way because that is how the community has labeled them. They are legit in game strategies at the killers disposal they just aren't fun but then again neither are the tactics of survivor with gen "rushing" and holding w
8 -
I wasn't accusing, and tunneling and camping are legit strategies, but, I think it's best to focus on just having fun.
(honestly, my main issue with facecamping is that it's boring)

When someone teabags or flicky macros me, yeah - I take a certain amount of schadenfreude-tastic pleasure in camping them out. Mess with the Bubba, you get the saw.
The problem with the 'shared storytelling' approach is that it requires both sides to be on the same wavelength. It's pointless to tell killers to relax and have fun when you are facing squad after squad that does nothing but try to get 5gens done as fast as possible while giving the killer minimal chases/hooks and then teabagging you from the exit gates. This seems to be the absolute goal of almost everyone I play against.
Nobody thanks you for going easy from the start. If anything, you're more likely to be mocked.
Right now my policy is - go in hard, mess them up early, get ahead and then you can go easy and meme around. This is probably the one and only situation where survivors will be even slightly grateful.
Job? No.
It's a competitive multiplayer game.
The purpose is to win.
I'm rather tired of being told 'well, the killer should just relax'. It's as unfun to have a seemingly unstoppable 4-out as it is to be camped.

I like to get in character to avoid getting tilted, but I mean facecamping.
applying pressure to the hooked survivor is fine and legit, I just meant the strat of "I'm going to hit you on hook so I win our 3m staring contest".
I think the game would really benefit from a casual mode, or, at least alternate game modes. (to help differentiate shared storytelling from esports, since both are present)

I so agree I can't sit still in a game like that it just drives me crazy. I was just pointing out I get what you mean about not going for the 4k.
0 -
I'm glad we're on the same page. :)
Maybe matchmaking is just busted for me, but, whenever I play and go for scares, I usually do better than just playing for a 4k.
Edit: however, whenever I switch archives, I always get a game that would've gotten me the one I just switched off...)

My biggest problem with just relax as killer is thats no the role it is stressful and competitive by its nature. Survivors have 3 other people to correct there mistakes where the killer its all on there shoulders. So you have one side thats chill and a party style game and the other side is stressful and competitive.
10 -
I mean, I do, but this would be a lot easier to take pleasure out of if the other side wasn't playing competitively and didn't so often mock the hell out of you for letting up, not using meta, or playing fair.
It's hard to get into a casual spirit when the people you're playing against aren't doing the same. Just makes you feel like you're getting shat on. It's very doable in low-medium MMR, but in high MMR you're going to get abused until you're too bitter to continue.
15 -
Not too much of a fan of how the new perks coming into the meta are making split pressure/slugging non viable. Firstly most the split pressure killers in general are the weaker ones, so we're nerfing killers that already aren't that great. Secondly, slugging is the least annoying way to actually pressure good survivors. Against good survivors it is mandatory. You are not 12 hooking good survivors. If you take slugging off the table you leave camping/tunneling, aka the least fun play styles that we try to avoid doing.
A split pressure meta is the most fun meta for survivors compared to the alternatives.
At least if we had some counter play options for this new meta it would be something, but we don't. Closest we have is ToTH and that's mediocre itself.

Job? Yes
Competitive or party game?
win or have fun.
It's just how you want to look at it.
I'm not telling anyone to relax play how you want but, I'm tired of players saying that their forced to camp and tunnel when nobody is forcing them they choose to camp and tunnel.
But, if you would relax and not take it as a job you will see that you play a lot better more focused then taking it so seriously and getting stressed out.

I'd recommend getting in character. I love getting in character, and it's my best advice for avoiding getting tilted. also, keep in mind, a clicking/tbagging survivor is a survivor who's losing distance in chase.

I won't lie i do have my days i go in trying to 3-4k as much as possible but thats just my competitive nature lol.
Playing huntress and going for shots i find even if I got 2 hooks I had fun trying to hit crazy snipes and stuff like that.

See, this is why I'm glad I accidentally started maining Legion when I started playing Killer.
Legion can use Frenzy and inflict Deep Wound to counter BT, DS, and UB because you can leave them in a third alternate state and have like... the equivalent of 16 stacks of STBFL on a successful Frenzy stab so body blocking with BT doesn't slow me down. Now boons have come and like... sure CoH makes healing vs Legion less of a waste of time but it still is a waste and you do still have to mend (though Thana has permanently left my build). Shadow Step doesn't block Killer Instinct and I can't see scratches anyway while in my power. Boon: Unbreakable is countered the same way and for the same reason as normal Unbreakable... I didn't slug you I just left you with Deep Wound.
Don't get me wrong, Legion has other weaknesses, but I can bring fun and interesting perks to mitigate them. I don't know of any perk or perk loadout that counters DS, BT, UB, CoH, and SS the way Frenzy can.

I completely ageee

It's pretty hard to relax as a killer. You're in a competitive mindset the entire match keeping tracks of what's happening in the game at all times and your mind is on turbo mode because one mistake = game over. This is a stark difference to when you're playing as a Survivor, Just listening to music and mistakes you made are easily patched by three other people.
Even known chill streamers like Otz can get frustrated when he's playing Killer. At first he's fine then you can see gradually his soul fades away lol
11 -
I do want to say that I don't think the new boon is as powerful as CoH but I do think it has the potential to be almost as strong in the situation but ill have to see it myself to know

I focus on keeping my sanity while enjoying this game so blood points are my only goal. I go with the flow and hook 'em and book from the hook. I stay on the move and change targets often. It is so much more fun to just focus on blood points and outplaying them during a chase than trying to confirm kills at all costs.
1 -
I try but you get them teams that are gen jockeys and end the game in 5 minutes and you can't stop it. My biggest problem lately is I've been waiting about 10 minutes to find a game and I end up with these guys like half the time so I sit in q longer than my game last plus I get like 12k and the best survivor got about 17k.
2 -
Shrug
I'm fairly competitive by nature. I tend to be nice in games, but I need to know that I could have won them.
The biggie though is the behavior of survivors. If I'm playing against a group that isn't being ultra sweaty and/or is of a similar skill to me, I will relax and have fun. I'll almost always let 1 or 2 (rarely 3, if it's an SWF) go.
However, I have too much pride to let an insult stand (flicking/teabagging me), and will either start playing really sweaty to repay the person that insulted me or, if it's at the gates/in postgame, I might take it out on the next group I see. It is what it is. Fortunately I don't tilt, so when I play sweaty I tend to do pretty well.
This game feels like a machine designed to manufacture toxicity, especially for the killer. It always feels like not only is the deck stacked against you, but that your opponents don't realize this will constantly belittle/taunt you for not killing them.
This.
I actually really sympathize with Otz. He's like what would happen if a human and a teddy-bear had a baby, and even he loses his fluff with some of the flicky flicky groups he goes up against.
If more survivors would just chill out, stop acting like Halo players circa 2011 and realize that everyone gets more BP if you play at least somewhat to have fun, this game would be a lot healthier.

CoH has negated the value of any injury state other than "downed". Shadow step makes it very easy to lose a survivor, so you are naturally going to go after the injured one because only downs have any value. You are going to try to get downs as fast as possible.
And to all the people saying play for fun without trying to win... you have to be joking. Why would killers play that way when survivors don't? I've never seen a survivor stay and sacrifice themselves once the gates are open no matter how bad a game I had, but killers have given me hatch a dozen times or more. I think many Killers already play too nice.
9 -
I always use BBQ or Live forever if survivor. I no longer run generator slow-down perks. I still defend gens but I don't really care if they decide to rush gens as I am confident in my ability to hook them all at least once and get some decent blood points in the process. If killer queues are taking long I just switch to survivor and try later.
0 -
Think about this: as a killer I've been given a free HOOK because I was having a bad game less time then I can count on one hand. As a killer I've given out hatch the to the last survivor for that reason more times than I can count on both hands and feet and that goes for killers giving me hatch when playing survivor as well.
5 -
Those are both staple perks for me as well sometimes I just find survivor boring so I end up switching to a different game I've actually been doing that alot lately. I just be jedi fallen order instead of playing dbd
0 -
DBD is best taken as a shot of whiskey. In moderation. The name of the company has always made me suspect this game is just a study of human behavior. How altruistic or selfish we choose to be when presented with different circumstances.
3 -
I just try to play chill I don't like to play competitive when I do I make mistakes and I let it get to me. So I remember Mr. Miyagi's breathing exercise breathe in, breathe out and I start playing better 8-9 hooks and unless they make mistakes more then likely they all escape.
I never felt the need to camp or tunnel teabagging never bother me if they did it at pallets I just leave and go hunt someone else I don't go to the exit gate unless it was an all around fun match. Flashlight warriors I never had a problem with look at a walk or I would try to bait them out. And they always seem to help me out more then their team.
If more survivors would just chill out, stop acting like Halo players circa 2011 and realize that everyone gets more BP if you play at least somewhat to have fun, this game would be a lot healthier.
I agree with you on this.
If both survivors and killers

They're making the game unfun for everyone with their current direction. Your mentality as a killer needs to be going into every match expecting to lose and not caring because if you don't have the mindset of a general disconnect from the current meta you're going to be disappointed.
That isn't even just a killer thing. Imagine being a survivor and every game is just boring M1 holding while the killer camps/tunnels one person, resulting in you getting like no points, no fun, no anything.
Do you have any idea how many times I've played killer or survivor and the killer fails to do much all game, but gets several hooks and then 2 kills by the end of the game because the survivors just stop doing gens and mess around with the killer? Because guess what? No one gains anything from actually escaping or getting more kills, so you're actively encouraged not to. Evidently 2 survivors throwing themselves to death so commonly means the game you played and got absolutely destroyed in goes in the "balanced" statistics pile.
1 -
This. Now killers shouldn’t expect to win. The only way you have fun is to not care about winning and just be there for the survivors’ enjoyment.
3 -
This is my experience on both sides as well all to often and its made me play so much less lately.
0 -
i never escape against a fair killer
0 -
Fun to me is winning. I should be able to get a 4k if I play well and make almost no mistakes. The game doesn't allow for that though.
11 -
and the game should have room for that too, but shouldn't a win be rewarding and fun because gameplay is?
0 -
I feel like when a group of survivors and the killer make the same amount and kind of mistakes and it still ends up been one side is where the problem with losing comes from. Most people can take a fair lose where the look back and go yeah I made some mistakes and the other side played well but when you both play well and you still get blow out its like ######### am I even playing this game for
2 -
It not a competitive game no matter how much mmr is used.
0 -
Agree. Survivor have Op stuff. They gave it cause they are not buffing solo yet, making new players and solo experience better, but swf even more Op. Genrush is extreme now, killer forced to apply pressure by camp and tunnel. Boons Op. Devs are messing up. Will see with artist perks of it get a little better, and if will buff solo and nerf boons.
1 -
Winning is fun. There is no point to playing a game you are intended to lose.
8 -
So what is the goal of the match?
1 -
Hear me out. Monstrous Shrine+Iron Grasp+Agitation+NOED. Tunnel 1st one out+More Tunnel (Possibly 2 for a save) at the Basement+1 NOED at the gate. 3K Strats. If the 4th doesn't have a gate opened slug for the 4K.
0 -
Unfortunately this game is being pushed that way.
Same way with all the anti-loop killers survivors are pushed to hold W and rush gens.
3 -
I mean, you won if you had fun.
if winning means a 4k, and that means fun, and that's not available to everyone, that's a design issue.
0 -
And that means I don't play the game or at least the role anymore. Which is what has happened.
1 -
There is no goal except for your own personal goal for the game.
0 -
I got my Survivor to Rank 1 and my Killer to Rank 10 this rank re-set. LOL
0 -
I think some of these people will never be happy until they 4K every single match honestly.
Usually if survivors are good camping will have negative effects rather than be used as a strat. So I understand what you are saying about playing better while remaining focused.
1 -
right, it's a design issue.
although, isn't a 2k a win?
0 -
It definitely doesn't feel like a win to me it feels like a tie

Their punishing me for playing billy
