Why Are Some Killers So Noisy?

With how incredibly important being able to locate your quarry by sound alone is, it's odd to me that some killers (Demogorgon in particular, who constantly sounds like he's eating pizza) make such a large amount of ambient noise from the killer's POV.

Plague, when she's full of the red yummy is understandable - but on others, there is a huge difference between, say, Demo and the whisper-quiet Pinhead.

Is this a balance thing?

From a design perspective, it's because it's dope AF. Embrace the flavor, because playing killer is all about that drip.

Nemesis? Sure. He's a big stompy bubblegum thing.

Demo? It's...annoying. Especially with his other passive noises.

I live every noise he makes. Each one makes me feel like a transdimensional hunting monster.

Some things have always been far too loud. Billy chainsaw is too loud. Nurse scream is too loud. Plague voices are too loud. Whether these are design choices or not the fact is that if I have to manually turn the volume down on my game when I play specific killers, then there's a problem with your sound design. It's just like how some chase music is so loud it masks survivor footsteps

Yeah, my poor Demo - what gets me is that when he comes through a portal he's supposed to be undetectable for a few seconds - except for the MASSIVE STOMPING SOUNDS that give him away every time.

They could at least make all sounds quite when he's supposed to be undetectable!

Can someone explain why Plague is so loud?
