I feel like I'm the only person who thinks Oni needs a buff....
I used to enjoy playing Oni a lot but ever since Blight has come out he just can't compete. Blight is just an objectively better Oni, so what reason is there to even play Oni? He's incredibly weak to just pre-dropping pallets and is just an M1 Killer for most of the game, meaning that in high MMR playing as him is a massive challenge. And yeah sure, his ability is one of the most powerful in the game but it doesn't mean anything if by the time you get your power you've lost a massive amount of pressure. I'm not sure what the buff would be but it should be something that helps his awful early game pressure, even if it's just a little bit.

I don't necessarily agree he needs a buff but you are right in that he suffers greatly from pre-dropping pallets and playing mega safe
But that's half the cast at this point, Oni's weak early game is what balances out his really oppressive power so it kinda evens out? What do you think they could do to buff him?
Maybe they could make it so his passive charging is quite a bit faster or slightly increase the amount of blood you get from your M1s
Also yeah I sort of agree with you about Blight, in the sense that Blight's power is very oppressive but also has minimal cooldowns. With alchemist ring it has no cooldown, only fatigue

That's just a problem with the pre-drop meta than an Oni one to be honest. If gen efficiency wasn't so high that survivors could just waste pallets like crazy he would be fine.

I don't play anymore but just put on Lethal Pursuer, BBQ, Tinkerer, and FearMonger. YW

Yeah, I guess that's the issue, finding out exactly how to buff Oni. I used to play and main Oni until Blight came along and ever since then most of the time I play Oni it just feels really frustrating having pallets just pre-dropped and me not being able to do anything about it. I do understand where your coming from though, his power is one of the most powerful in the game, and making it easier to get is going to have a massive effect on him but at the same time it just feels so unfair when you're helpless for a good chunk of the match if the survivors don't give you an easy first hit. Maybe it's not something that can be solved by just simply changing Oni but I do feel like he deserves changes with Blight being a thing.

He def needs a rework. A power that depends on survivors is bad design.

Then again on the other page
I really enjoy going against Oni because I feel like he's one of the most balanced killers out there
I don't know if I'd want to see him changed from his current state. I think the Killer role's overall gameplay could do with a touch-up but nothing specific about Oni comes to mind.

Buff? I already suffer enough with him making a slugfest out of everybody with his power. I swear oni is one of the killers that I literally don't know how to loop cause every single one manages to hit that staff every single time in me. Even in tight corners
0 -
The problem isn't his power
it's the fact that good survivors make getting your power extremely hard, because they don't loop - they pre-drop pallets and play super safe.
For some anecdotal evidence, I once played a match on 'The Game' against an Oni and everyone just pre-dropped every pallet and he got his power eventually... When all 5 gens were done.

Really? The strategy is pre drop pallets? Well, it makes sense but I never really noticed that in real time.
And to be fair I think I'll never will cause oni's will always get a hit on me, either by window vaults or small unsafe loops

Rather than a buff I think he needs an addon rework, especially after the top knot nerf.

Lord please don't rework Oni, he's one of the best designed killers in the game. All he needs is better add-ons and maybe some minor buffs.
I'm not too sure about buffs though, he's regarded as one of the most balanced killers in the game. OP is right that pre-dropping pallets punishes Oni too much, however, so maybe there's something to do about that.
2 -
yes, yes you are

Agreed, some of his add-ons are pretty bad or even useless (I'm looking at you, iridescents...)
I would combine both passive recharge add-ons into one (0.1c/s + 0.2c/s = 0.3c/s), buff Renjiro's Bloody Glove (it's actually very unique for an iri add-on, it's just too weak), and lower Tear Soaked Tenugui's rarity to yellow. There's a lot more to do from there but it'll be a great start.

I really enjoy playing Oni. The games are always intense and ever since boons came out boon healing totems act as a blood depository for me so I can get my power whenever I want. Then it's just running to gens and vibe checking everyone with my club, go drink more blood, rinse repeat.
Getting that first hit and starting the snowball is Oni's biggest weakness though, definitely. If I can't get the ball rolling well...it doesn't roll.

I'd say it's a combination of the game as a whole. Anti-loop powers that's countered by not letting them use it in the first, so throw down the pallet. Big maps that take so long to patrol that throwing pallets immediately isn't that punishing. Or maps like Hawkins where a corner pallet is really unsafe if looped normally but really safe if thrown early.
The game sets its self up to fail.

Ever since I binded my Q and E keys to turn left and right I dont think I've lost more than a few matches. You can easily get 90 degree turns without having to mess with your DPI, really catches survivors off guard.
But yeah pre-dropping pallets is literally a way of leaving him powerless, if the first survivor you find does this and don't drop chase inmediatly you have just sealed that match as a loss.
If every time you switch to a survivor they do this, and your build isn't heavy on the gen regression area, well, gg I guess

tbh I personally think he needs a rework. About the same size of doctor's rework.

I don’t think he needs a buff at all tbh.
I find him boring to play against for the very thing that was just mentioned, you “pre-drop” pallets leaving very little room for interesting interaction.

I think he is in good place now, maybe the most balanced killer in game.

I mean there's perks out there to help you in Early game and get hits

Some addons idea:
- Each pallet stun/blind increase your power gauge by 25%.
- In Demon Rush, you can see the aura of breakable walls, pallets and windows (Zanshin Tactics effect).
- When Blood Fury is activated the nearest survivor become the obsession, suffers from the Oblivious effect for 20s and revels his aura for 3s (Nemesis effect)
- On endgame, all survivors suffer from Hemorrhage and Exhausted effect for 45s (Blood Echo effect)
- Hooked survivor gives you 8 blood orbs, instead of 2.
- Survivons drops blood orbs when they are on the Oni grasp.
- The passive power gauge is uncapped and faster for each finished generators.
- Mangled survivors drops more blood.

Just 180 cheat like every other oni and you will discover why he hasn't been buffed.

The devs have failed with Oni to fill the niche of old Billy compared to Blight.
Blood Fury is cool, but it's not really fun design to be an M1 killer for like half of the game and having to rely a lot on slugging. It doesn't feel like his power makes sense without Infectious unless the survivors play really badly and get slugged easily even without that perk.
Easiest thing that could be done is probably try making his passive recharge faster so that it's not as awful if people start playing ultra safe.

I stopped playing him after top knot nerf. He is overrated killer now. They also stealth nerfed his 180 degree turning cap to 140 degree turning cap without saying anything. He has max normal turning cap of 90 and hard cap of 140 now. To make most use out of his power,
you need to use 140 degree cap exploit, otherwise his dash is unusable at loops vs smart looping survivors. The start up of the dash is just too slow. I wish the change was reverted.
beyond his m1 weaknesses, even when he gets his power, the power only lasts 45 seconds and your punished every time you down someone.
Blight's just a straight up stronger version of Oni now with lower cooldowns and less punishment. if his iri tag gave instant down on every lethal rush, he'd be an oni with 10 second cooldown demon dash. Oni's only advantage is being able to instant down now but the time it takes to get his ability is not worth instant down.

Oni is very survivor dependent. Survivors can prevent him from getting his power by avoiding hits, healing and even hiding when he does get his power. Good will hug tight loops, again breaking his power. Unless survivors are careless and are out in the open, it can be a struggle. I think he's nicely balanced

?? His addons are fine? xD

As an Oni main I disagree completly, the only thing that you COULD do but I think its not really necessary would be to reduce his base TR without the blood fury to 24M but I think this would be bad for casual players.
I think oni is at a good spot and doesnt need any changes.

I feel like what oni needs is no buff to his power or addons (his addons are actually really good and nice imo) but a way to actually access his power without having to be an M1 killer. This is where the problem lies.
He cannot gain BF from passive recharge. He use to in his PTB, but now he needs at least 1 blood orb to do so.
An Idea would be to buff his passive recharge rate either neutral by a substantial amount (like gains power in 60-90 seconds) and allow passive recharge to fully fill the bar.
But a more interesting idea that lines up with lore really well would be he gains SIGNIFICANTLY faster recharge while chasing a survivor (and of course the ability to fully charge his bar with passive recharge). Say being in a chase for 45-60 seconds would be enough to charge his power up completely.
"The constant pre-drop of pallets feed into your anger. Gain X% faster recharge while chasing a survivor."
If need be even, lower the amount of power blood orbs gives by 25%. I think he needs to be able to get his power without needing to injure survivors.

he's definitely a killer that would benefit nicely from a buff against really sweaty players, something that would do virtually nothing against most players.
0 -
His buff is called Play with your food. Getting the first hit is no longer a problem even when pre-dropping pallets.
There's your power. From there, he's always been a snowball killer. So, play accordingly.
0 -
I really don't think he needs much of any buffs.
The problem is map design. The fact that there is a good chance that just about any survivor can play safe on any tile makes it near impossible to get an early hit, which is what Oni needs. His power is actually the best one for coming back in a match.

They first need to get rid of the j-flick on him before considering any buffs for him. With increased turn controls he loses any counterplay and can down anyone during his rush, no matter which corners they take.
0 -
He's perfectly fine as is besides maybe needing more interesting addons. He's a top A tier killer on the verge of being S tier.
