What specifications should my pc have to play DBD at a low/mid-level (for dummies please)
my pc has been degrading as of late after around 8 years of use with little to no maintenance. recently i started playing dbd on pc since this was more cost efficient than Xbox game pass. So for around a month i played fine but now my frame rates have turned unplayable. So if I get new pc/parts what would be the best specifications for this so I can play?
(P.S please explain this in slight dummy terms as I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to how a computer actually works

It is worth noting that the minimum requirements and recommended requirements are wildly outdated and could really do with an update. Those specs could do low at around 30 would be my guess.

Pretty much this.
My GPU is barely better than the recommended one and I only manage to do Medium Settings for stable 60 FPS. So the actual requirements are probably higher, the Recommended are closer to low than anything else.

Feel free to stretch your res (at least on killer) as it’ll help you get an overall better performance and get more frames

Get a good one.

look, dummy advice, and this might be horrible advice. grab components that were, lets say, mid tier to say it some way, from around the time the game came out or a couple of years after.

What do you mean by 'stretch your res'? I already have the games resolution down to 65% as that's the lowest it will go and graphics quality is also at low. Is that what you meant or is there something else I can do?

In general it would help if you could post your current specs.

Honestly, while it's nice to get new parts you might just need to clean your pc. You also might want to download a program that checks your cpua and gpu Temps to see if you need to reapply thermal paste to those components.

ah that's the thing I have no idea but this?
Windows 10
AMD A-8-7650k Radeon R7 3.30GHz
8GB DDR3 (6GB usable)
AMD Radeon(TM) R7 Graphics
I think that's my computers specs?

I meant you can use stretched resolution (at least when you play killer). It’s a pretty frequent topic here and is really controversial too but I know a lot of people who use it to get better performances, since the game isn’t really optimized for older PCs. I won’t send any link here but you can search it up on the internet and try and use it.

Eight years is a long time.
Remember, PCs age 12 years for every human year!
In all seriousness, I know more about Nvidia than ATI, but the biggest weakness I'm seeing here is your GPU. I've found a benchmark of someone playing DbD on it, and they are struggling to get 15fps stable at 1080p on Low. Granted, it seems to be the beta way back when, so maybe you'll have better luck now.
I wish I had better news for you.

These are not accurate at all. They were acurate half a decade ago in 2016. They are not accurate now. I get horrid lag and frame drops with 16 gb ram, a video card multiple gens ahead of their recommended, and a CPU generations ahead of their recommended. Yet I still recieve terrible texture pop in, frame drops, lag etc.
Strangely that all started after hour of the witch. The listed specs are for the game as it was near half a decade ago. Not the modern game. We don't know what the actual true recommended specs are for the game as it exists today. You try playing with that today and you can enjoy your intermittent freezes and sub 50 FPS

My suggestion is to upgrade storage / how the game is stored before touching anything else
I played it on my computer with 16 gb ram strong graphics card, 6 cores, 12 threads, and other strong hardware but when I had to play without an ssd on a hard drive for a week the game was ripping at its seams breaking
so my suggestion is to switch to a solid state drive if you are using a hard drive and depending on the read write speed of it the gameplay will be much smoother and the downloads will be faster (thats how some people download a ptb in 7 minutes instead of 2 hours)

oh wow just tried changing my pcs screen resolution and not just the game and this really helped although it feeks odd having these black bars on the edge

You should look into at least upgrading your GPU / CPU, if you have the money to spend and get a good card you might need to upgrade your power supply as well. I'm personally still running a 980ti with an intel 1-7 6700k cpu and can play dbd without any issues / any settings. Edit: with a new cpu comes a new motherboard as well.
