How much salt do you get on your steam profiles?

I happen to get quite a lot. In fact a streamer was going off in it just last night for me.

Do you get salt often? Do you find it funny?

    None.

    And it's incredibly disappointing.

I rarely ever get salt, and i'm always super ready for it.

i have a public profile and i don't delete anyone that hates ever. To me its a badge of honor that you were so mad to come to my profile and write something vial to make yourself feel better. And if it does its a win win .

not all of them are hateful and not all of them are from DBD, but a huge portion is . It is what it is.

See, I have a great system for handling salt in this game.

I just throw it over my shoulder, and get a lifetimes worth of luck.

I have pages of salt, so much that I finally turned off public comments. Pretty freaking childish tbh, a bit cringe if you ask me.

Plenty of them from DBD survivors, personally I keep all of them as long as the user who posted them has public profile.

I had about 70 pages of salt up until 2018 but since quitting killer it has only gone up slowly. Salt on my profile is much, much less frequent when playing survivor.

I deleted quite a few comments back in 2016/2017 and I regret doing so. Every once in a while it's just funny to look back at the ridiculous reasons people are salty and have a good laugh about it.

In 6 years I've only ever gotten one comment and it was from a killer saying I didn't good job of saving teammates and taking pressure off them.

I really don't believe this community is as salty and toxic as some people like to say

  • lauraa
    lauraa Member Posts: 3,195

I get a decent amount of salt because of NOED, but for the most part I dont get any comments unless I play Jeryl, then suddenly the urge to spew gross transphobia comes out in full force by both survivors and killers

Just had 3 ppl leave salt on my profile.

    I was playing trapper.

I put this on my Steam profile. They don't want to waste their time just to get deleted.

I have significantly reduced steam comments since I added this.

  • SunsetSherbet
    SunsetSherbet Member Posts: 1,607

None because I haven't had my steam comments set to public in like a decade.

  • I cant see a good reason for letting just anyone make comments on your profile... it's so similar to social media that I dont even want strangers to look at, much less comment on, my profiles on there either.

  • Mister_xD
    Mister_xD Member Posts: 7,669

DbD is the reason why i disabled comments on my steam profile.

i still get people trying to harass me on my screenshots, but that usually just ends with them looking like a clown for my personal entertainment (not very common though, you'd need a lot of salt to go that far).

None. The one negative comment I've gotten was somebody telling me to stop farming. (In context, I wasn't really farming; I was trying to play normally but this one survivor kept trying to make friends with me, so I was ignoring them and chasing everyone else, with the intent of sparing everyone else at the end because I don't want to play favorites. But the player DCed when they saw me and Claud staring at each other between chases or something.)

I've gotten plenty of +reps though.

I haven't looked. I only play dbd on PC, as I just got a PC back in August. I was console since launch. Not anymore. I never thought to look at my steam page lol.

I do get quite alot of salt in the chats at the end tho.

None, because my profile is privat. Otherwise Killers would dodge me too much in DBD due to my hours.

Also nobody should see all the spicy games I am playing. :>

  • SunsetSherbet
    SunsetSherbet Member Posts: 1,607

Unfortunately people will dodge you just for having a private profile. Partly due to fear of SWF but also because of the hacking problem. Lots of hackers have private profiles, so people began dodging them for fear of hackers.

I'd be worried if I had any at all as my entire profile is friends only.

I set my profile to private after I ran into a smurfing streamer and his mates a good while back and managed to beat them (was playing Hag) despite having 1/10th their hours. He evidently sent his two dozen or so viewers over to take a poop on my lawn, accusing me of 'hacking'.

It's been so much better since then.

I dont get much salt here. They all usually come to my twitch while im streaming to call me names. Even then it's actually not that many. I'd say for the last, what 9 months for me, i believe maybe 8 people total have come to my stuff in general and said something rude?

The only time I'll camp is when someone's teabagging or flicky flicky macro'ing me.

    Otherwise, I'm pretty chill.

I still regularly get cussed out in postgame.

Bring addons and win? 'OMG carried nub scrub killre uninstal reported hacker'

Play a strong killer/use meta perks and win? 'x killer/perk so OP sweaty tryhard l2p'

Play a rare killer or use odd perks and win? 'srsly just play normally scrub y u so sweaty?'

Give a team a chance to farm after a DC? 'reported for holding game hostage just end'

Don't give a team a chance to farm after a DC? 'reported for unsportsmanlike I know the devs enjoy ur ban'.

Lose or go easy on people? 'LOL babykiller games full unninstall'.

This game...tends to bring out the worst in folks.

Yes, well they reported me because they would randomly be in the dying state. I was using Honing stone

  • Aneurysm

Not much. And I delete it unless it's funny. One obnoxious team started ranting on my profile calling me too sweaty for my own good and playing trickster because I wanted to bone him, that was allowed to stay.

Not much, I get salt in end game chat not in my profile even though it is public.

The only salt comment I've gotten in my profile was someone calling me a tunneler after I hook 2 other survivors then saw him in the basement with bbq.

  • Aven_Fallen
    Aven_Fallen Member Posts: 16,352

Eh, Killers dodge for everything. My Lobby got dodged 6 times, probably because one Survivor had a Toolbox.

Another time the whole lobby got dodged because we were all ready. Killers complain about quickswitches, but if there are 4 Survivors without Items, all on ready, they are also scared and dodge.

But for real, nobody should see that I have a few hundred hours in Super Seducer.

Before I made my profile friends-only, I got 2 in total I think. Given about a year of playtime, I don't think that's a whole lot, considering what you all get.

    I disabled it.

And sometimes people try to add me to friends only for flaming me in chat, it's pretty funny because they think I'll accept them.

  • SunsetSherbet
    SunsetSherbet Member Posts: 1,607

I never understand the idea of putting -rep on a killers profile because 1. He can just delete it 2. No one can see who the killer is until they die/the match is over, and at that point knowing they're "low rep" isn't very helpful, is it?

  • StarLost
    StarLost Member Posts: 8,077

    Eh...

It's not pre Tribunal LoL bad or original DoTA bad, and it's miles from early XBLive or Smite bad but it's still pretty awful at times.

It's because this game can be frustrating. Take a game I had earlier.

Playing Doctor. Wind up on Grim Pantry with that frigging log right in front of the boat, forming the pseudo-infinite. Yay. And I'm up against a 3-man.

Game starts rough, 3 gens pop before my first down. However, after I hook the Bill, the other survivors leave him to almost die because one is too busy showing off that - yes - she can play the log-boat infinite basically forever and the other two are healing or something.

I end up chasing the one on the boat over to the hook - she unhooks in front of my face. Fine. I hit her, then hit Bill (for some reason) attempts to bodyblock (maybe he thought he had BT or something?) and down him again, then down her. Feel a bit bad because he had a rough bounce, so I back off and let their friend them heal him up.

They end up stomping me - just hugging that damn boat loop every time I chase. And of course, Bill sits in the exit gates with his two chums teabagging away, then I get told to uninstall in postgame by all 3.

Welp, now I'm going to be playing no-mercy games for a bit because sod all survivors on principle. No streamers for you!

And that's how the cycle of toxicity continues.

    Sigh.
