So VHS...
looks like another bully simulator for SWFs. Admittedly I've only watched a few matches but the monsters seem to get absolutely stomped due to the massive coordination the teens have plus weapons to fight with.
DbD will probably be safe once again. Though they should take a look at some of the VHS mechanics and consider adding them to DbD.

Its an interesting concept and I love that the Killer is decided at random.
Seems more chill and either outcome you can have a good back and forth experience.

I saw that from watching a little bit of the gameplay from the developers. Looked like the "Teens" got to have complete control of the game, while the "Monsters" themselves not only seemed far less powerful than the Teens, but looked kind of lackluster to play.

For VHS, sure, but a really strong argument could be made that the reason DBD is the king of the genre is because the Killer can't be killed themselves.
That's certainly why none of its competition ever really appealed to me- getting bullied by good survivors in DBD is already pretty frustrating, adding actual damage and eventual death onto that seems even worse.

Exactly. The first thing that stood out to me about DbD's gameplay was the fact that survivors couldn't "fight" back. They have to complete their objective to win. And I too think that's why DbD is at the top.

Great, this sounds like people disconnecting if they are Survivor and want to play Killer and vice-versa.
But in the end, it does not matter, the game will be irrelevant rather sooner than later.

That's actually a very fair statement. I haven't actually seen any VHS stuff beyond the dev streams, so I'm not entirely sure how it typically plays out.
By the by, is it true there's built-in voice comms? I've seen the ping system but am still a bit confused on that one.

I've not seen that much of it myself, to be fair. I've heard it's going to be free to play, maybe? I might check it out then, but as it stands now I wouldn't know.
I'm sure it'll be a well put together game! I don't mean to slander it here, just pointing out how that mechanic might end up being frustrating.

Yes. It has built-invoice comms, hence the massive coordination. The ping system iirc is a way to place markers to show your team where something is.

Power is VHS shifts throughout the match. Sometimes the monster will be dominating the Teens, and then the next moment Teens have the upper hand.
VHS is not a bully simulator.
The Monster has abilities to disrupt and harass Teens, and there are multiple systems in place to make sure bullying isn't possible unless you're REALLY bad.
They're wrong. You can queue up as Teen or Monster, but the monster player is hidden in the lobby and looks just like another Teen.

Its more that anything that weakens the antagonist's position weakens the threat overall. If you could also kill the killer in DBD it would be even less threatening and they are already doing a good job of diluting the horror element with uber healing, exhaustion perks and killer nerfs.

no you can select which role you want to play as.
its just that the lobby shows everyone as teens so you see who you play with without revealing the monster.
the monster also starts out as a teen at the beginning, but once they drop the disguise its gone for the rest of the game (i do think that hides their equivalent of a terror radius, so its a decent early game stealth tool).

I mean, if your petty sure that can happen. DBD won't die but for a f2p asymmetrical game the hope is it'll gather a community that isnt as toxic as DBD.

If you care to watch Dowsey, he made some interesting videos talking about it. Most notably for me is the one on closed beta/alpha a little while back, he explains how it's very fair for both sides but it's really a high skill type deal.

I've seen some videos of that game and in my opinion the "survivors" are maybe more fun than DBD ones because is not holding M1 all the time, but the killer looks too bland in mechanics and way less fun than DBD, in addition there are very few killers and you can't chose?
I'm more hyped for Dragon Ball: The Breakers, no kidding.

I have said this before in multiple other VHS posts.....it looks just like Last Summer. Had a similar concept, 4 kids trying to escape a crazed killer, weak at first but after they get weapons and gear, even the strongest killer goes down pretty fast. That type is a bully game, if the killer keeps the pressure up then the kids don't have a chance to win but once the snowball rolls with the kids then the killer can't win.
Those types of game seem fun at first but soon die off because people get bored at that concept. The point of the "Killer" role in these games is that they can't be killed or stopped.

I've only seen the trailer but the beginning looks really really cool. I'm not sure about the gameplay yet, I'll have to watch more videos to decide. Are the killers just like random monsters? One thing I really like about DBD is that some of the killers come from actual horror franchises. I'd like to see another game do that, but with more of an indie horror focus.

What kills it for me how long matches are. Near 20 minutes seems to be the average with some cases reaching half an hour. Honestly it's so boring to watch.

Hope it comes to Xbox game pass in the future so I can at least try it. Might be good but I expect it to be meh.
