DBD has a Hacking problem and BHVR still decided to have it for free on Epic.
Every Hacker is laughing his ass of right now. A Hacker said that it takes like at least 2 weeks of obvious hacking for them to get banned. They get banned they would have to get over the paywall but now every hacker could just make 5 epic account (OR ANY AMOUNT OF EPIC Games account)and get DBD there.
Nice One BHVR. Maybe solve your hacking problem first before getting that fortnite money from Epic? I guess you guys are so spooked by VHS then huh?

Both BHVR and Epic are well aware that a very small minority would willingly choose to purchase and play a game on EGS over Steam when given the option, so they had to do something to incentivise doing so.

Eh...I honestly don't know what the answer to the hackers is.
On one hand, EAC is a complete joke. It's so easy to bypass that even modders include how-to's with their mods.
On the other hand, I look at a lot of other full-on Esports with crazy expensive anti-cheats still getting swarmed with hackers, and I'm not sure what BHVR can do.
PC gaming hacks are so damn sophisticated now, and are big money. I mean, if you are willing to shell out $80 or so a month, you can get a hacking suite for nearly any game you can think of.

True. Played 7 games tonight, and 2 had blatant hackers.
Legit just stood around and watched them crawl on the ground at super speed, heal themselves, and just running around the killer mocking them.
I don't even report them anymore. BHVR's report process is terrible, complex, and burdens the user more than it should. I'm already growing to accept them as regular players, and my disdain for them is turning into indifference.

I like that BHVR has solidified themselves with such a bad reputation in my eyes that I can see such blatant disregard for players and just go "Yeah that seems like them" without batting an eye. EA would be proud

actually I played survivor today and got pig cheating with reverse bear trap, so after 10s into game you will died since they play with video tape addon, sucks though since i need to complete survivor quest already meet twice in 4 games

i encountered a hacker yesterday, but it was only after i hooked him that he started to hack. He chenged his healthstates when he was hooked. it was stupid to see. anyway, the worst part of dbd today is the hacks that you dont see, and they are everywhere.

Oh cool we just have to deal with cheaters for an entire week.
That's a signal for players to go stop playing for that entirety.

Yea, these is just concerning man. There is no limit where people can get free DBD in that period. A Hacker can basically set up a Bot that creates a new email account, then create an Epic Account then claim DBD then run it for 7 days straight. (I know because I can create one)

One thing I imagine they could do is implement advanced analytics. It may be difficult to detect cheat software itself, but it should be trivial to detect the effects of certain cheats in the game. Speedhacks, gen progression hacks, attack cooldown hacks, hacks to hit survivors across the map, all at once, to kill everyone instantly, hacks to blind killers on command and indefinitely, to go from hooked to unhooked 10 times within a second, all of this type of stuff can quickly be identified just by having some intelligence in the game that can distinguish between things that are physically possible according to game rules and mechanics, and those that are not. A survivor is running at 4.1m/s or a killer at 4.7? There's nothing in the game that could allow for that to happen. Mark them for a ban. And that's obviously just a simple example where no extra intelligence is needed to make that call, just something to monitor movement speeds.
They wouldn't necessarily have to instantly ban on the grounds of something physically impossible happening of course, sometimes bugs could cause them to happen. Depends on the amount of intelligence in the detection system too, but either way they could mark the players, and if it happens more than 3 times or whatever, then ban them. Or they could simply mark them for further inspection.

Why banning for speed hack? Just apply permanent hinder by 50% untill trial ends. That would work and make cheating useless with any amount of accounts.

Can't botters just grab all the free accounts and free copies of the game and then wait until that period is over to do all the cheating? To my understanding, it's not "DBD will have a free trial on Epic Game Store." It's "DBD will be eligible for you to keep for free forever on Epic Game Store."

We need some system that will automatically detect and remove any unfair benefits that player somehow got.
They see auras when they shouldn't? - ability to see any auras removed for one trial, if effect persists (guess it wasn't a bug) double the time for the penalty, again? - double it again. Like with current DC and leaving a game.
So on with speed, healing, etc.
Any items must have unique ID from where it originates. Taken by some player at the start, crafter in lockers, found in chest... if Id doesn't exist just make him drop item and forbid usage.
Player teleports from one locker to another? - make him enter the locker with 3 minutes long animation with idle caws :)
And of course logs of such events.

Yeah, that doesn't change the fact that there will be an influx of hackers because it's a free week. I remember never running into blatant hackers in R6 siege until they held a free weekend then I ran into multiple in a day and they were way better about banning their hackers so I can only imagine how many are gonna crop up during a whole week of zero consequences.

OP didn't post concerns. They mocked. OP wrote six sentences, and five of them were blatantly insulting BHVR. Rizzo gave the thread actual intelligent context - DBD isn't permanently free on EPIC. A mistake that anyone who was only hearing about this for the first time on this thread might make.

BHVR doing this, in the midst of the game being riddled with cheaters is so tone deaf. They acknowledged the DDOS issue but no acknowledgement of the rampant cheaters?
What's it going to take to get an answer, BHVR? Is the game going to need to be filled with EVEN MORE cheaters to the point where your support team simply can't handle it anymore?
I predict with this free epic thing - we are going to see the amount of cheaters triple overnight. I hate to be pessimistic, as I always try to think the best but this is just ridiculous.

OP is a customer and he is absolutely right.
I say it again - remember what happened to another game on egs store, gta5. Their servers got full of cheaters for a half of a year with that week gift game.
And their anti cheat system works way way better than current DBD.

Do you know how many alt account you can make in a week? stockpile them for months hell maybe even sell the accounts.
