BHVR, please take the hint from your "Labor of Love" post
So, BHVR made a news post asking for players to nominate them for the Labor of Love award and decided to lock the post when the answer was a resounding no.
How much more do we need to get BHVR to wake up? If you can't even allow your players to write comments because of the negative response, isn't it time to fix some of those complaints?
Or is it just easier to lock the thread and pretend the problem doesn't exist?

Were they all legitimate complaints pointing out extant bugs, or were they people making hostile, aggressive comments about how the game is trash and the devs are incompetent?
The one to one you're trying to draw doesn't really exist, this community has a bad habit of behaving in a manner that would warrant barring them from commenting even when they're mad about something that is a problem.

Mm.
If there was a word for my current opinion of this game, and the general emotion I feel while playing it - 'love' certainly wouldn't be it.
And I quite like SBMM. When it actually works.
- Boons are far too strong, and now there's another one of the bloody things.
- Artist is already getting nerfs. More to come no doubt.
- Multiple 'B' tier killers nerfed into the ground.
- Dead Hard 'fixed' (see: buffed) despite being the most meta perk that ever metad.
- Awful, frustrating maps.
- Incredibly toxic survivor base.
- SBMM still being incredibly inconsistent.
Going to see if I'm still having fun once I get my hands (no pun intended) on Artist and, if not...I guess I'll check back at the midpatch.

They were mostly complaints about the bugs and the fact that BHVR doesn't listen to its playerbase, both valid points. A lot of the comments just said no. Very few of the comments were actually hostile or aggressive, although I won't deny there are a couple of those in there as well. And unsurprisingly, there were almost no positive responses.

I'm the one that actually locked the thread - as we lock all announcement threads. Plus deleted a lot of abusive comments...it's not negativity that we avoid, it's the insults, abuse and death threats.

Didn't have that context, thank you for clarifying!

Exactly. Most of the people on the Steam discussions (and even on this forum) resort to hostility over a video game rather than constructive criticism and feedback. This community shoots itself in the foot by constantly whining and complaining rather than voicing their concerns in a reasonable, constructive manner and being open to feedback and suggestions. It makes their complaints hard to take seriously when they pitch a fit like a petulant child.
There is plenty to be concerned about in current DbD, sure. But it doesn't warrant having mental breakdowns over the video game. Developers would be more inclined to listen to their players if they presented feedback (both negative and positive) in a mature manner.

So rather than continuing to delete comments, you just completely stop all discussion? That seems like a really lazy solution. Delete the death threats and abusive comments, sure, but there's no reason to lock the thread other than to avoid the negative PR.
Did you at least bring the valid criticism to the attention of the devs?

She literally said that's what they do to all the announcement threads.
Selective hearing, much?
Can't check right now if they actually do, but I full-on believe Mandee offhand--I sincerely doubt she'd lie about something that disprovable.
Edit due to formatting gods: To be fair, you have a point that it would be better to foster rational discussion, but fortunately that's what we have these forums for--oh, wait.

I dknt think they should get many vote. Some people will vote for them the bhvr white knight but they are not winning that award for sure

I've been playing since 2019 and they've always locked announcement threads a little while after they're posted. Within a day, from my experience.

Thanks for the confirmation!
There you have it, @BuddhaBing, it's literally standard procedure, no underhanded laziness to it.

There's a discussion going on right now on the Steam Forums - about the award. Death threats on an Announcment are not tolerated in the slightest. And we always lock Announcements a few hours later, as you will see by every single announcement that's in that particular sub forum.

The previous news post had the comments open for days. This one had the comments open for an hour. So yes, I have selective hearing when it comes to misleading information because I choose to ignore it. The comments in all the news posts I checked have been open for at least a few hours, this stands out as an anomaly and I'm willing to bet that isn't a coincidence.

I wouldn't lie about anything at all, I have absolutely no reason to.

Fair enough.
And if this helps Mandy - when people feel this strongly about a game, even when those feelings are quite negative (I'm still pretty salty after the 3-hit combo of Cenobite nerfs, Wraith nerfs and Boons) it demonstrates that they are at least passionate about it.
Anyway, I'm off to get teabagged by a smurfing group of teenagers with 15x my hours played who somehow communicate telepathically.

not a coincidence at all, I locked it when my shift finished yesterday as I was the only one around to deal with the comments on it.

Fair enough, sorry for jumping to conclusions. Please make sure the devs take note of the responses though. I really want to see this game improve to the point where people would be happy to vote for it. The devs need to know the game is not in that state right now.

As long as console performance is bad, I will not nominate this game for the labor of love trophy.
1 -
This game is not worthy of the laber of love trophy.
There is no love in this game and it show on the state of it.
Even if someone said there was. Then they must've lost it a few years back

I can't blame them for asking for passionate players to vote for them in the Steam awards.
Though I'm really curious if they can honestly say they think they deserve it this year.

Nah I wouldn't vote for them imo. If they truly cared it would show. They haven't done anything to stand out. Maybe if they added crossplay that would be huge but is still in the works or never coming. (Except for maybe stadia and switch to steam)

Players do. Every day in a mature manner and much of it is ignored. How many times must someone repeat themselves?
