What if killers could choose the obsession?

There’s too much RNG in obsession perks, for example I just had a game where I wanted to try out the new ‘Scourge Hook’ perk with ‘Dead mans Switch’ to see if they had synergy with each other, but my obsession was an urban evasion gamer who I literally didn’t come across once the entire game so I got no value from said perk

So it got me thinking, what if at the start of the game, or within the first couple of minutes or so or so the killer could select the obsession? Say they have until before the first generator pops or the game will just select a random survivor for you

this would make obsession perks a lot better.

Say you were running ‘Dead Mans Switch’ you could just select the first survivor you come across

Or what about ‘Play With Your Food’? Again you could select the first survivor and drop chase instantly, getting that speed boost nice and early which could be huge for M1 killers

Or say ‘Save The Best For Last’ you could try and identify the strongest looper/ most aware player within the first couple of minutes and select them as your obsession so you don’t have to waste time chasing them for more stacks

I just think it could be a cool concept that adds more strategy into killer gameplay

    The biggest concern would then immediately be stream sniping. TTVs don't like it when they can't advertise their channel without getting singled out for it.

    Not to mention that salty killers would then be an issue, since running into the same killer might result in them making you the obsession if you were too much of a star player in your last game with them or made them angry. (Which would actually make sense from a lore standpoint and fit with the "Killer obsession" thing, since you're technically obsessing over the player by making them the obsession but I doubt the DBD community will see it that way)

    You could always run nemesis and eat a pallet stun to swap the obsession.

    There's ghostface's perk that can switch/change your obsession.

    It would give a killer too much power in deciding who to chase and attack or not. As you mentioned, for PWYF stacks but unfortunately one obsession tunneling perk does still exist for some reason (Remember Me).

    It's just that many killer obsession perks are still bad, and should be buffed or reworked. It doesn't really matter who is your obsession or not in their cases.
