I swear it's like he doesn't even exist anymore.
Is he more common in High MMR still? I'm in Gold so I'm not sure. Just miss him so much, he's my fav Killer to face v_v

This is what you get when bhvr nerfs killers for no reason. Seriously, was anyone complaining about Billy being OP? This forum is full of whiners but I don't think Billy was on the radar when you had Nurse and Spirit.

I've been here for a while and I guarantee Billy wasn't complained about. All I ever saw was Spirit, Nurse & NOED spammed in general discussions. Don't know why they bothered poor Billybob </3

He has a bit of everything but not the best at anything. He has what Bubba, Oni, and Blight can do. But, Bubba has his instant down mastered, Oni curve/strafe mastered, Blight mobility mastered

They got salty and ditched him when his add ons got nerfed. Previously they were in a state where it was basically "equip any two add ons to win," and post nerf their descriptions may as well read "puts an icon of an add on in the bottom left of your screen" aside from one or two. Then they pretended it's because you can no longer walk around with the chainsaw revved for over a minute without consequence.
He's still a strong killer, and has a fun playstyle, but he's definitely been powercreeped by some of the later entries like Blight, and Bubba who got pretty universally buffed at the same time as the Billy nerf.

I don't like how Hillbilly plays personally. Not even that I think he's weak or anything per se, I just find hitting with his chainsaw feels cumbersome because of the horrible turn speed and long charge time. Bubba is WAY easier to get chainsaw hits with so it's a lot more fun to play him in a chase. The only fun thing about Hillbilly in my opinion is that he can zoom around the map rapidly, but now that Blight's in the game Blight is basically on par with Hillbilly in map traversal but is slightly easier to get hits with using Lethal Rush (and has some neat add-ons).
Basically my guess is a lot of people who enjoyed Hillbilly back in the day probably switched to either Blight or Bubba, depending on whether they liked Hillbilly for fast travel or for instant downs respectively. Hillbilly is like a somewhat cumbersome hybrid of those two at this point. He's one of my least favorite characters to play personally (my least favorite being Nurse.)

Both were extremely good killers that needed a minor adjustment to some addons.
Instead they got their addons gutted, their kits nerfed hard and just being...crap to play.

The only people that play him, including me don't play dbd anymore, we play breaking pallet simulator with all the pre drops.
But I can clearly say, there are about 3 of us playing billy in my region or servers.
Not everyone likes pre droppers.

I'm not officially retired but down to around 10 games a week. Playing Billy just feels depressing now a days. His nerf was way to harsh. He deserves to be viable again. Buff Billy!!

I used to main Billy at red ranks - pretty much stopped playing him around the time he was murdered. The only time I played him recently was at low MMR with a meme build just dicking around (speed limiter + mad grit/agitation/lightborn, doing M2 only). He is pretty miserable to try and play seriously
There's no good reason to play him right now when you could play Oni or Blight or Leatherface. They all do things better than he does, EASIER than he does, and with less punishment for misplays. It is unreal to me that Billy has been left untouched after all this time. The rework is still by a wide margin the worst balance decision BHVR has made imo. Billy is going to be about as rare as Twins unless BHVR decides to un-murder him

Twitter, steam and low rank survivors. Some surv main streamers complained constantly as well and nobody clarified that the complaints were about the addons and just lumped it in as "billy" as a whole. So the dev's gutted EVERYTHING.

I was trying to become a billy main but it seems when I play him I get the most atrocious rng I have ever seen consistently
Match on groaning storehouse had a jungle gym, into a jungle gym, into shack, into a jungle gtym, into a jungle gym into a path pallet, plus 4 filler pallets outside shack
Next match pale rose with 13 pallets
2 god pallets on boat
2 god pallets on docks (I do count the double window jungle gym pallet as a god pallet)
Shack pallet with a massive loop pallet next to it
4 filler pallets between boat and docks
2 filler pallets behind the docs
and finally the filler pallet between shack and small boat, all incredibly strong resources decently connected together across the whole map the match basically plaid itself
This and countless other experiences have led me to believe billy is cursed post rework and give up on him completely

I remember old tinkerer with certain add ons created insta saw billy but that was fixed when tinkerer was reworked.
Thats what i thought. Compared to other stuff billy wasnt complained about much. I always thought he set the standard for what a strong killer should be. People complained about nurse and spirit but it felt like most people were content when getting out played by a good billy

Scrap his freaking annoying "here i come, dodge now" scream (every ######### time you charge with him) and tune down the headache inducing sounds from the chainsaw on higher heat and maybe some people like me might play him again.
But with those sound "features" it becomes a chore to even play one match with him.

There's no reason to play Billy when Blight exists. Blight can do anything that Billy can do but better: curving, strafing, hugging loops, etc. Add to that Blight's has better addons, no stupid roar, no stupid overheat and his cooldown for missing a rush is way smaller than the cooldown for missing a chainsaw. Hillbilly is obsolete.
It kind of feels BHVR intentionally killed Hillbilly. After his nerf Blight was released like 3 months after (and we know they plan killer months in advance), a lot of the new reworked maps are anti-Billy with random debris and branches stopping his chainsaw and even on the recent update they buffed Blight's Summoning Stone to be a very decent addon and what Billy got? Engravings are less of a pain to use and he now has an addon that lets him kick pallets faster... while overheated.
The only reason to play Hillbilly is if for some weird reason you like instadowns, but even then you can do Iri Tag + Alchemist Ring Blight LOL.

A few are still around but most have moved on to other killers because Billy got F'ed in the A by the nerf... I mean "rework". The camera and first person animations are still horrible when you play Billy. Make BHVR bring back the old animations if you want to see more Hillbillies.

Other than the things other people already mentioned, the devs also straight up refuse to fix his janky ass animations that have been there for almost 2 years now which make Billy even clunkier to play.

A few people complained about him, but it was pretty rare. Honestly his nerfs aren't nearly as big of a deal compared to his animations being unplayable.

If you lost to a Billy who keeped revving the chainsaw all the time, that tells you much more about your skill level than old Billy being overpowered.

Gone with his nerf, I'm afraid. :[ I wish they would keep the visuals of the overheat mechanic, but remove it as a whole. It makes Billy unfun to use and every time I'm playing survivor and hear a chainsaw overheat when I made an obvious mistake, I cringe a little inside thinking of the missed opportunity to capitalize on my mistake as a survivor after the game forces him to M1.
Curving and such is still a thing, but you can't go for fun curves when you have to micromanage the overheat.

The whole community considered the old Billy as the most balanced killer. Not OP and not weak with a good map control.
And BHVR nerfed him to the ground while they buffed the Nurse... it's just an exemple to show some absurd decisions they have made...

Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but Billy practically got nerfed in this patch.
A fellow forum member made a thread on this earlier today. The engravings no longer give additional acceleration after cancelling his chainsaw, so that's lovely. Not like that's literally been in the game since forever.
Apparently it was a bug, but wasn't Billy's turning a bug made into a feature? Why can't we have his additional acceleration a feature?

I do think that's worth clarifying - overheat does nothing unless you are feathering the chainsaw. It seems like the only purpose of overheat was to remove that piece of Billy's kit, because it's virtually impossible to unintentionally overheat otherwise. You can overheat very quickly when feathering though

I play a lot of Hill Billy
He is more chill in lower and mid mmr, but higher mmr is not as enjoyable with him unfortunately which is usually where I sit. Everyone is just very good at facing him these days and he doesn't have the potential he used to have following the re-work/change/nerf or whatever you want to call it.
But he is still my favorite killer to play, just can't seem to drop him from my top spot :)
