Profile lock.
Why can't we look at someone's steam profile during the game?
What possible reason is there to remove this feature?

Remove? Was it even a feature to begin with?

I used it all the time if i got a full legacy player in my game. Not hard to know you have a cheater if they are in full legacy with 10 hours or a fully stacked survivor playing like a pro with 20 hours on record.

that sounds like a bug, you should report it

You can still check their profiles at the end of the match on the scoreboard.

That doesn't tell me if i should start recording during the game or not.

You don't have to record tho, if its obivous that someone is hacking during a match its because they probably are, in this case u just have to report in-game and go fill a detailed ticket for the support, they will check the players packages and account then issue a ban if your report was legit.
If someone has legacy on the lobby or in-game and their profiles are not private (allowing you to check their achievements) and then you notice that their Prestige ones are messed up (all at same time or past 2016) u can fill a ticket and they will be banned next day, u dont even need screenshots or anything in that case as the support team can check the players account and see if the legacy is legit or not.
However, you should never fill a ticket if you are not SURE if someone is hacking as that would waste the support time that could've been spent on actual hacker/cheater reports, if you arent sure, just report them in-game, if that person keeps getting reported the support will eventually look at it and check by themselves.

If I have to guess maybe stop stream snipers?
Then again you could do it in the lobby.

Anyone who is stream sniping is using a cheat to do it thanks to dbd cheaping out on security.
Watch any content creator and especially tru3tallent because he seems to rub survivor players the wrong way and you can see them be targeted constantly by the same people.

Stream sniping is certainly dishonorable and borderline cheating, but its not anything bannable at all. If you are going to post your TTV in your steam handle, its sort of like bragging. And some killers who go to a stream aren't necessarily cheating or sniping, they just like hearing themselves talked about on stream.
I've done it myself a few times and its funny how many content creators jump to "He's screen watching me!" Uh, no. If I was alt tabbing over to watch your screen, I'd lose every chase and gen that way.

You don't use 2 screens?
