Disconnection ban appeal madness
BHVR offers a disconnection ban appeal at their bug report section, only to send an auto message that disconnection ban appeals are not supported (I could even prove that it was their servers, not my internet so it's just brazen of them)
(Then why offer it at the website if you do not offer it anyway???)

Maybe the problem here is you trusting that BHVR actually does customer service.
20 -
Yeah, that makes no sense. Good luck with that. I figure by the time they got around to appealing your ban,, it would be over with anyways.
10 -
"pretty good job so far"
*facepalm*
8 -
I gave up trusting them a long time ago, I just report it anyways because what should they do? Ban me for support abuse when I have a legitimate appeal?
1 -
They were successful in making you waste your time on the CS website, and making you feel miserable.

If your penalty is high enough thatbypu need to make a ban appeal, it is definitely on your end tho tbh.

Do BONES.
4 -
Madness?
This is BHVR!
4 -
heh, this is exactly what'd I'd expect from bhvr
1 -
Literally everyone on console DC's.
1 -
It was only an hour. I was more concerned that this may happen again and I get 6h, i just wanted them to basically set me back so I'd get 1h on my next dc
0 -
That is weird, there probably shouldn't be an option for that. It's pretty common practice to not even allow appeals for anything that can be called some sort of short temporary ban / suspension in the first place, appeals are for permabans and temporary but longer ones (like ones lasting months)
0 -
How did you got it to a hour tho?
2 -
An hour is not much. 3 DCs plus this server crap that happened. I always left to really annoying camping, tunnelling or griefing killers, because usually I don't care for bans that short. I just complained that if this server thing happens again, I'd have 6h for no reason

It’s probably a relic from before the automated system went into place. Prior to that people manually had to report other people disconnecting using the ingame ticketing system.

Don't ragequit.
Use VPN.
Check your modem.
...
Git good :)
Yet occasionally you still get DC penalty. Live with it.
2 -
Member berries when DC's were disabled. God those were fun times haha!
3 -
I don't want to have to live with it. Sometimes you just get put into jail for false evidences but you did nothing. Live with it. Similar logic.
I never have problems with that in other games because they manage to detect which side failed

To be honest you just like denying killers their hooks they earned. Have fun :D

Sorry but you deserve the 6 hour penalty IF it happens again then.
The servers crash EXTREMELY rarely and IF they crash you dont get a penalty 99% of thr time if its not on YOUR end.
You took the penalty to 1 hour, which takes more than 3 DCs i am pretty sure, so live with your 6 hour penalty.
Just play your matches out or dont complain.
4 -
No I don't have a 6h ban yet. But if they happen so rarely, then why did ai get up to 24h once without dcing just once? 24h just for playing and a server error. You can't tell me that I should just „Live with it“
0 -
You believe him that (whoever that guy is) he got to 24h for game crashes? Yea, sure.
Maybe he should get better wifi or a better PC then.
Or just stop ragequitting.
EDIT: I guess ,,ai" is just a typo and you meant ,,i" for yourself.

Ah.
See, this is the problem.
Stop DCing and you won't get a penalty anywhere near that long.
The only time I'll DC is when someone is straight up holding the game hostage, and I've never even had the slightest penalty because it's so rare. Sometimes I'll have a server issue - but again, never a penalty.
If it's your internet, that is going to be up to you to fix. If you're just rage DCing, stop.

Here's the thing...I'm on your side. You shouldn't have to just, "Live with it." It's unjust. I agree with you. You should appeal it. It won't do you any good, but you should. Network errors are not malicious acts. They are not immature acts designed to purposely hurt and interfere with a match. It just happens. As does life. Most decent humans are understanding of it. I don't know what people's problems on here are. I was told over and over to fix my ######### internet. I have fiber optic internet and I was getting shamed into not playing my favorite game because I was "poor" with "bad" internet, at least, that's how it felt to me. Well when I finally got the courage to talk to nice, understanding, knowledgeable, tech people, we figured out that it was partly a host error, and partly an issue with my router. So please, do not listen to these petty unknowing people, do what you think is right, and talk to somebody that actually is a professional in their field.

"3 DCs plus this server crap"
"3 DCs"
Y'all are getting way worse on not telling on yourselves here. Seriously, stop dcing for no reason and you won't be banned for an hour if something legit disconnects you. This isn't difficult logic.

This is closer to someone being known for graffiti being blamed when his tag shows up on the side of the police station. Now maybe he didn't tag that particular wall, but his history of graffiti will make it a lot more difficult to prove it wasn't him.

4 DC's work like this..
5 min
5 min
15 min
15 min
3 -
Fyi, my network's fine, I checked the router logs. BHVR just foesn't care
0 -
yes I know

No, you admitted to rage DCing multiple times.
If you don't rage DC, the occasional network issue or mandatory DC game (someone holding it hostage) won't get you any penalty.
Pizza, people really tried to help you in that thread. Nobody called you 'poor'.
This thread is why people were skeptical of your thread - because here we have someone who started with 'it's a network error' then admitted to deliberately DCing multiple times because he didn't like what the killer was doing.
4 -
For everyone else it works just fine.
Its on your end.
2 -
To everyone saying that it's kinda my fault. I think you don't understand.
First, yes, I dc for reasons. My limit is an hour for bans. Normally I don't dc afterwards until I'm back to 5 minutes
Second: I may get frustrated when my network gets down and I disconnect from a round without my fault, but I never complained then. But when BHVR Has a server error for whatever reason (bug, internet provider, whatever), I should not be the one having to get a penalty, because if it could happen multiple times (which it did) I then sit through 24h for nothing

I think I said I felt that way...not that anybody called me that. I felt "inferior" and ganged up on, because not everybody was trying to help Star. I sympathize with Dipper, because I know what it's like.
0 -
No I said that it was a server error by DbD and I got the penalization, which will result in a worse one if it happens again. i don't care if it's an hour ban or 24h. I don't want to get onto a higher penalty level because of their mistake
0 -
Thank you. As I said, everytime I dc it is indeed my fault, But any type of penalty that's not my fault is just really bad. And 5 minute ban is also not an argument. What if I ply with friends, it happens and we all get 5 minutes. It would be frustrating. And if it happens again it would be 15 minutes, for playing the game

Also the main thing about my post was that you can appeal for a dc penalty, but get an automated message that you can't do that because it‘s not supported

Might be leftover from when hackers were giving streamers and other people 72 hour bans.

"Hi, this is BHVR's customer service:
Have you tried to put an emoji on the report section in the results screen????"
0 -
Thing is - by the sounds of it, your situation was the exception that proves the rule. You did have a weird issue.
A lot of us though have done this song and dance before, where someone blames it on server issues and then it's revealed that they were just chain DCing.
When people constantly cry wolf, it makes the real wolves difficult to see.
Okay, let me see if I can explain better - keep in mind that I'm not trying to be mean, just honest.
- AFAIK, the way the penalty works is that you have to play x number of games to reduce your penalty by a 'tier'. If you play a lot of games without any DCs, you even get a pretty decent grace period where you will receive no penalty if you have a few DCs.
- In your situation, you've added to your own problems. By rage DCing when you don't like how a killer is playing, rather than just suiciding or something, you use up your grace period. This means that if you do have network issues, you are going to start getting a penalty.
- DCing is a bad thing to do. Not only do you leave your team in the lurch, it also spoils the game for the killer.
In the future, if you aren't having fun with a match, go and stand by a hook and point to it. Or better yet - play it out.

The way it's set up, is that for temp DC bans, we have a bot to answer those questions as there is nothing we will do to release temporary bans.
If we didn't have that section on the report form, all DC ban appeals would go to customer support and they'd have even more work to do by replying to everyone to say that we do not release these bans.
Whilst I appreciate your frustration that you got a temp ban for something that you feel was out of your control, your ban was longer due to your actions in dc'ing from games previously.

There should be community/in-game tasks or something to reduce/remove ban time. I don't know how but in a way to encourage the person with DC penalty to behave in a positive way and in return reduce/remove their ban time. This should not feel rewarding for the person with DC penalty but should remind them that they are going to have to work towards the reduction/removal of the penalty.
I think DC penalty system should be reworked. I don't know what the community thinks but the current way it is, it just sucks. You sit and miserably wait whereas there should be something you can do.
Opinions?
0 -
DC penalty is supposed to "suck" - sitting and miserably waiting for that penalty to expire and to calm down from what caused you to DC in the first place, that's exactly the intention of a DC penalty in any game. It's not supposed to give you something else to do whilst you wait, as there'd be less incentive to DC then.
4 -
The fact that it also bans you when they have a server error doesn't make it any better. But yeah I get it. I just think that no matter how long your ban will be, you should never get penalized for something you really didn't do.
0 -
People like this are all rage quitters. They come on here trying to fool everyone. No one believes your Internet service crashes that much. You've earned your ban.
1 -
Server errors are actually pretty rare - so those shouldn't be more than a 5 minute ban, and with things like Steam Maintenance taking longer on average than 5 minutes, the ban is over prior to that maintenance. What it does cause an issue for, is the people who've DC'd and then get the timeout for server issues, then those have the longer ban - but that's been earnt from DC'ing in the first place.
