Most juvenile/pathetic DBD player behavior

I am not particularly triggered by any of it, but I was thinking which of the big three typically complained about behaviors (in game) are the most childish, and what opinions were. So which one seems the dumbest to you:

  1. Teabagging
  2. Flashlight clicking
  3. Smacking a hooked survivor

I would actually vote for smacking a survivor while on hook is the most childish. Unlike the other two, which are definitely childish as well but may tilt/bait/lure the killer, smacking a hooked survivor has no potential benefit. You going nothing from it, just makes you look like baby.

As a survivor, it's pretty validating, it usually means you got all the way under their skin, and now they are wasting their time.

I'd say a mechanically valid difference is a better argument than appeals to poor tactical attempts. Especially with the whole teabagging at the exit gate part.

Well, yeah, but if we're arguing which behaviour is the most childish, it's the one that has no definite mechanical effect and isn't considerably worse by dint of being potentially physically harmful. Doesn't mean the gaps are big. 🤣

    Top 3 would be imo:

    1: Bodyblocking (hostage) and sandbagging

2: Letting Survivor(s) bleed out instead of hooking just to be a jerk

    3: Flashlight click spamming

The most pathetic behaviour, by a landslide victory, is finding a way to get around the chat filter in endgame just to call someone a slur. Or to tell them to, in less polite terms, kindly remove themselves from this plane of existence.

    • Actually straight up cheating. As in actual traditional ESP/speedhack/whatever cheating.
    • Taking the game hostage.
    • Saying all kinds of gross garbage in post game chat, like slurs, threats and self harm encouragement.

    In no particular order.

EDIT: Okay, slightly particular order. People being disgusting in post game chat is #1 and overrides all others. I don't care if someone has been tbagged/camped/whatever for 10 games in a row, I don't care how tilted someone is or how "justified" their anger is - the moment they go for stuff like slurs and other vile garbage in chat, they deserve nothing besides a swift ban. If they absolutely need to cry in chat, just be a more normal person and call people bad at the game or something.

That's it, as long as stuff like that exists I'm not gonna devalue the value of words like juvenile or pathetic by implying ultimately pointless in-match actions is anywhere close to actual rule-breaking and/or disgusting behavior.

Nope I get messages for an hour if I hit 2 buddies in a SWF and off them. Quite hilarious.

I do use #3 to my advantage, playing mindgames on survs. Making me look like a camper does give me more options, on stopping hitting the hooked survivor the survs would have to pick whether I'm still camping or not.

I’d say bleeding everyone out on purpose is the most pathetic thing you can do

Returning to the hooked survivor near hook-changing phases ans smacking them might intimidate the would-be rescuers, or make them rash.

    Flashlight clicking for me.

Lighting your screen intentionally to annoy you, it's something that annoys me the most.

I could not help myself but slap my friend in custom game after doing this to me. .

Honestly, neither of those gets me. What gets me is really, really bad behavior in Postgame Chat. I dont mind if someone tells me that I suck at Killer or Survivor. Or complains about losing.

But just yesterday I had a Killer tunneling me for 5 Gens in total (first 3 Gens and after I got unhooked, the next 2 Gens). He was saying that I exploited the Map and that I am an F-Word. When I responded that they should learn when to drop a chase, they said they tunneled me because of my F-Word Charm (I am wearing the pride charm).

Saying that people "like me" (he means F-Words) should be hanged and called me some other things I dont really want to mention here.

THIS Is behavior which is far worse than teabagging, clicking or anything else which can happen IN a match. Especially if it hits someone who seriously can be hurt by things like that and can have emotional problems, maybe because they experienced something like that in Real Life and it happens again when they are playing a game which has the purpose to enjoy things and having fun.

Sadly I did not file an ingame Report, but I will try to contact Support regardless. I am afraid nothing can be done (because I really forgot to create the ingame Report in the heat of the moment while taking Screenshots...), but I can at least try. I take teabaggers and Killers hitting on Hooks all the time over "people" like this.

(I mean, someone who teabags or Hits someone on Hooks can still be a very nice person in Real Life. But someone who writes stuff like this, even when in rage... Not so much)

Yeah, the reason I specified in-game behavior is because the post game toxicity/hate/prejudicial BS is a given as the worst, most inexcusable behavior in the game.

I would say anyone complaining about these things are pretty pathetic.

    Either side.

I'd say the worst 3 are by far the

    1. Cheating/hacking
    2. Letting someone bleed out instead of hooking them. Usually though they hook them at the very end of the bleed out timer.
    3. Body blocking. I only put this lower because I think you die quicker from this than the bleed out timer.

Farming to kill your whole team would also be here but I think the ones above are a lot worse.

T-bagging and flashlight clicking is horrible but sometimes their cockiness can actually lead to them getting killed. There's also the fact that it can be a strategy to get the killer to tunnel you if you know your team is bad in chase or to get the killers attention away from another survivor their tunnelling/camping.

I speak the language of my opponents. If they bm I give them the same if I have the time and it doesn't cost me the game.

It is very satisfying hitting bmers on hook with 8 stacks of stbfl for example. They are like a punching bag.

I mean I'm entitled to play how I want.

Also I'm just not a sensitive person who cries about in game bm like imo get a life is the way I see it.

I usually will only smack Elodie on hook. Her scream irritates me.

I'd say clicky clicky is the most childish, since people actually go out of their way to macro that. Until teabagging can be macroed, it's not 'as' bad. Unless both are done at the exit gates.

Teabagging doesn't bother me outside of:

    • Bully squads who will stall the game out/lag switch/hold the game hostage.
    • Complete one sided stomps. It's like 'yeah, well done - your SWF is pretty strong'.

What gets under my skin is:

    • Flicky flicky macros, as I've got some issues with photosensitivity and the 'strobing' can send me to bed with a crushing headache at times. I've had survivors say that their goal is to give someone a seizure one day in postgame. More than once.
    • 'lul nub killer uninstall games full' from someone in postgame who was also hacking/switching/smurfing.
    • People who'll BM you after you gave them gate or hatch because they had a DC.

Ash, Elodie and Nancy all have a very loud, annoying scream which I'll try to cut short.

I agree. The whole hitting a hooked survivor is noobish to me. All that does is rub it in and it's bad sportsmanship.

I'm a firm believer that you can tell the caliber of a human being in how they act towards strangers when there is no risk to them. It's easy to be a good sportsman and a decent person when others are watching - it's the other times that really do show people for who they are.

I don't like doing it, but if I suspect there might be someone lurking around the hook I'll usually hit them once to stop the scream so I can listen. There is an alt-tab trick to get the same effect, but my game does not like me doing that.

You perceive me as a jerk than try to pass it off as if it's a fact which to me is just a scummy thing to do. You don't have to agree with me but to act like I'm not a decent human being because once more I don't get bothered by in game bm is actually just not not okay.

I respect your opinions on this forum on every other topic apart from this one. We've talked before so don't get on like I'm an ass cause we disagree on something.

I lost my ######### because I'm sick and tired of people calling people toxic by an in game action, it doesn't sit right with me.

Unless there is actual malicious intent behind actions then it isn't toxic, it is harmless fun IMO.

I actually do the third thing rarely if the survivors screams are ear piercing for me it shuts them up lol but only like a one hit as soon as they're hooked.

For example Elodie when she was notoriously loud. But yeah point is there actually are reasons for the third one, sometimes people just don't wanna hear the screaming. But there's definitely not alot of people who do it for that reason most just do it out of being salty or a payback bm kinda thing.

  • StarLost
    StarLost Member Posts: 8,077

    Sigh.

Yes, I do. Because I believe that the way you interact with other people, particularly strangers, determines whether you are a jerk or not. And I don't believe that videogames are exempt from this.

When people say 'toxic', then naturally it means toxic within the context we are discussing.

And there is definitely malicious intent when you are acting in a manner to deliberately spoil the experience of other people. How is there not? What other purpose to being BM would there be?

But yeah - we aren't going to agree on this one. Maybe a topic to avoid. Just keep in mind that when you are a jerk in a videogame, it says more about you than about other people.

  • BabuDweet
    BabuDweet Member Posts: 556

I don't get the correlation between being a horrible human being in real life and literally pressing a button to move your character a certain way in a video game. Seems like that's just hardcore reading into something to me.

Just keep in mind, don't call people a jerk just because you get bothered by things in a video game and they don't.

Agree to disagree on the matter.

Sending a mail bomb to an opponent because someone didn't like how they were told to go spend time with someone who loved them in response to ridiculous attempts at harassment.

... That was a neat experience.

The screams really do get annoying to headache inducing if you wear headphones.

I can't speak for others but it's not a like a tactic thing it's just some of those screams... especially Steve's, after a few matches you just want them to stop. Especially when you have a match with two or more Steve's two or more times.

I'm closing this here because apparently people can't be civil and discuss something, without feeling attacked or attacking others.
