Grades do not = MMR
Honestly it's sad that so many people still dont seem to understand that these two things are not linked.
Feel this needs to be linked to the grade in game like a little message saying this is not your skill rating.
The fact we balance for people that dont understand things like this as well just isnt helpful as their feedback is based on a false understanding

They can just hide it like on last MMR test

I actually disagree with this notion when it comes to killer. MMR is based on kills and escapes. For killer, the only way to pip is to get kills. The more kills you get in a match, the more likely you are to pip. The more often you are pipping, the more likely your mmr is also going up since pipping and increasing MMR have basically the same requirement…. kills not skills. Grade isn’t looked at when choosing who to match you up with, but it does give insight into your ability to get kills and how often you play in a given month.
4 -
no way.
it is completely wrong as you can never lose you grade. You can lose pips but once you reach red one grade you can lose 3728482 matches and yet you are still red one grade.
Players take grades as ranks and thats bad

I don't get why BHVR doesn't hide grades in the scoreboard. I don't play a lot of survivor currently, so I am always at a really low grade.
One time some folks even bothered to create a message group to bash me because I was the sole reason the match ended with a 4k for the killer. They were sure I had done nothing but hiding all game and didn't belong in that match as I was Ash IV while everyone else was Iri I, so I obviously had to be much worse than they were.
So that match I ... did solo 100% of 3 gens + 70% of another gen of 4 gens done total. In between, I did run the killer for awhile without going down (unlike the others, of course no gen popped during that time), found and cleansed two hexes and unhooked two survivors safely (no time for more because someone has to do gens, I should have, because "safe unhook" was an unknown concept to the others). But I was the sole reason we lost, because Ash IV.

Grades reset every month and mmr doesn't. So while I haven't played a lot in the past few months my mmr has stayed at its level despite being ash rank.
So no taking grade as some sort of representation of the mmr value is faulty.
1 -
I mean can you blame them? There's no indication of MMR and Grades are just plain to see for anyone that just plays the game casually and doesn't look to deeply into how the matchmaking works.
1 -
What? MMR doesn't reset each month? And I thought games were always way, way more easy after a rank reset, allowing me to play with the more non-meta killers and builds for a while.

I think its strange how people say grades aren't the same as MMR, but they are still a very clear example of skill, or at the very least in killers cases, high numbers of kills. I mean say junk all you want about how grades are just a measure of who plays the most, but if you don't kill anyone as killer, you don't pip. And as a survivor its very easy to get trapped in a cycle of pipping, and getting camped/tunneled so you just constantly gain and lose the same pip over and over.
So people with high grades play moderately well, especially the earlier in the season they get a high grade. If its the 14th and you are against some iri 1 survivors, you are gonna have a bad time.

And these comments prove my point....
Guys and gals grades have nothing to do with skill, the players you verse or your rank. Nothing at all.
You could have an iri 1 who has no idea how to loop or even hit skillchecks consistently or you can have an ash 4 which can loop like mad and hits greats every time.
THIS is why BHVR needs to have a text next to the grade and maybe in the endgame screen.

I think they should change the numerals and instead just put a "BP award gauge or something like that". And instead of grades just put the survivor profile pictures on it.
At least it would make less people come here or on twitter arguing why they're playing with red ranks in Ash.

FYI one of the devs did publicly ask on the forums recently if people think they should remove opponent’s Grades from the endgame scoring screen because it causes so much confusion with players thinking they’re used for matchmaking. I think the universal reply was Yes, they should be removed from that screen, so who knows, it might already be in the works to finally stop showing other people’s grades?

If you double pip often it's possible to get to iri 1 in below 50 matches that's less then 2 matches a day.
On the other hand grades can't downgrade anymore. So if you play 20 matches a day but only advance 1 grade at a time then you'll still reach iri 1 20 days after reset.
It's clear which one of these is better. But they still both reached iri 1
High mmr killers are indeed likely going to reach iri faster.
But being iri doesn't always mean you're good. You can play horrible and still get there by making it up in gametime

Yep. It was much better when the post match screen was the survivor/killer icons. No confusion. Being able to see your own grade outside of a match is good enough.

If you are playing enough to get to Iri 1, your MMR will go up by default. Yes you can't lose a grade, but you can lose pips. You still have to pip and not depip to get there. Chances are that if you are playing that much, you are getting kills. Kills is what determines your MMR, not skill. If you did nothing all match and got a 4k in the EGC with NOED, guess what? Your MMR will still go up lol. Nothing in this game truly measures skill. The game measures kills, escapes, and time played. Not sure why people are so caught up on Grades vs MMR. It makes no actual difference in reality. Get kills/escapes and you'll generally face competition who get kills/escapes at around the same rate. Doesn't mean the quality of said competition will be reflected in their grades or MMR.
1 -
But to get iri is not a big deal.
Look: I start to win all matches and while im gold 4 im starting to have sweaty killers. What do I do? i hung myself or afk X matches until I get baby killers.
Now I head for iri 1 since my grade did not decrease at all but mmr did.
Ezpz.
So you dont have to be actually good, just smart
0 -
But that's my whole point. Neither Iri or MMR are a big deal. Both are based on something (the same thing ie kills/escapes) that doesn't really measure the skill needed to meet the requirement. MMR doesn't differentiate between the survivor who hides in the bush all game and escapes vs the survivor who does 5 gens and escapes. Just like it doesn't matter if you consistently get your kills with NOED vs pre-EGC without NOED.

To pip as killer you don't even have to kill anybody. A good example is legion, which is extremely easy to pip with.
0 -
Yeah honestly just hide grades at this point. Im tired of this conversation. They won't show us our MMR anyways.
1 -
for the overwhelming majority of killers and games, you do need kills. you are not consistently pipping with 0ks unless you are playing against potatoes. If a team is good enough to keep you to 0ks, more often then not, you/I probably got stomped.
0 -
You don't need to pip every game, if you get stomped and outplayed, why should you pip?
0 -
Again not nececarilly true.
With killers like legion you can get to gold or something without killing a single survivor.
It isn't untill iri that you need 13 emblems to pip. Up untill then you can get nothing in devout and still pip. You can even get merciless without killing a survivor in the early grades.
And even without that. If you have somebody who plays 25 matches a day. Doesn't kill a single survivor in 20 matches but is able to pip the other 5 matches in a row they go up in grade. If they do that 20 days out of the month they reach iri 1.
Mmr indeed doesn't measure your skill. But the skill your opponents need to be. If you get a 4k purely thanks to noed in the end game you should face stronger survivors who can deal with that. It's a good thing your mmr increases in that scenario

I was pretty sure they had them removed at some point. Can somebody confirm this?
I think BHVR should remove them again.
0 -
I think it was in a ptb that they were removed.
0 -
I'm low on survivor as well but I can say mmr is busted. If anything they're probably upset cause they can't handle a loss. They have no one to blame but themselves.
0 -
Yes they were removed to test skill rating.

If you see any of those, "this isn't fair I'm only silver II against Iri 1. Nice match making BHVR." Just ignore it. You try to explain it so many times and 20 more follow behind it. It's old and tiring at this point. It's easier to complain about the grades "equaling" MMR as if it's supposed to pair you with fellow Silver II's, basically treating it like the old ranking system rather than doing research into what it actually is, or isn't. Countless people have tried explaining it but people are just still insisting it's the old ranking system.
Now what I can agree with is how inconsistent match making is. Let's be honest, it's pretty damn inconsistent. I don't think it is working as it should. Like at all.

I just ignore them at this point. Even before sbmm ranks didn't mean too much.
I saw people literally braging about being red even now when a toddler can do it easily.
I would be embarrassed.
