The State of killer right now is Abysmal......
Between Busted loops, Insane Number of pallets, Meta survivor perks, Boon totems, Skill based Matchmaking, Pallet Validation and now Deadhard validation Killer is absolutely a void where fun just goes to die. Unless your ready to bust out the most boring meta killer builds and sweat your ass off, Killer is just BEYOND unfun right now. You can't even really just play a "chill" game of dbd where you don't care if you win or lose cause you'll probably get matched with a Tryhard SWF group whose soul purpose is to make the next 10 minutes of your life as miserable as possible.
honestly I don't know why killers face a penalty for DC'ing when Survivors are playing to MAKE Killers DC. Killers have to bite the bullet and put up with toxic games or face time outs. MEANWHILE when something doesn't go a survivors way they can easily just kill themselves on hook and get into the next lobby without hassle.
the final nail in the coffin for me is this deadhard "FIX" im happy for all the survivors that a once broken perk now functions "properly" now but from the killers POV its the biggest crock of bull imaginable. re-read everything I wrote from my first paragraph about how many advantages halfway decent survivors have, but imagine putting up with all that when chasing a survivor only for you to land a successful hit and then watch them eat it and power on. There's no more mind games anymore where the killer could try and bait out the dead hard. Instead the survivor just saves it for when the killer swings and tanks a free hit.
I can't take it anymore with this game.
I really think I'm at my wits end.

I really must be playing a different game

Sounds like you need a break. I just started playing again yesterday from stopping early this year (I think idk it was before boons were a thing. After the twins dropped.)
Sure I ran into a few try hard teams but I didn't let them kill my good time. Maybe some time away now will let you have fun later.
9 -
And they also made an event just to screw over one side lol
25 -
Pretty bad drought for fun as killer ever since Mikaela commandeered totems.
21 -
Hit validation isn’t one sided. It may seem annoying but it was good for the game.
8 -
I like thinking the Devs are getting the results of all killer games, so if you don't do a good job in a killer match, they'll see and notice if killers are underperforming.
1 -
killers just completely exaggerate I swear like 😂
12 -
Hope you enjoy long survivor Quees cause this type of "Everything's totally fine" attitude is why a lot of killers are leaving.
38 -
why don't you go play killer longer than a couple hours, and you will see
23 -
What killers do you play?

I mean you kinda go overboard with it but you are kind of right. Dead hard is not anymore a "press E before the swing" its now a "wait for the animation to swing then press E" which is absolutely retardet. Killer is STILL stressfull these days but dont pretend it wasnt like that before, it got even less stressfull with our fancy new anti gen perks.
Yes hit validation is anti killer atm and Killer isnt really the mode of having fun, its more like a stress test for your brain but we got over time more and more changes that helped the Killers. I'd say go take a break and come back a few months or so. Thats even better that way cuz then survivors have even longer que times :) Thats how you get your revenge, they are already complaining, if more killers stop playing then you can show BHVR that way that Killer still is not fine atm.
5 -
Is it really that bad? Honestly I’m having tons of fun playing clown atm and getting pretty consistent 2-3k’s without camping or tunnelling.
2 -
to be fair so do survivors its just people who cant admit they arent as good as they think they are
4 -
I love how it's always Killer mains bringing up those supposedly long queues but never the Survivor mains themselves lmao.
Insta queues during the day and never longer than 5 minutes during the evening/night.
6 -
Now I play without meta perks, don't control gens, don't camp, don't tunnel, just play for 4 BBQ stacks, doing the challenge, giving max 2 hooks per surv, and then let everyone escape. This is the only way I'm not stressed anymore. And still survs are toxic as hell even when I had a chance to kill them a few times but let them live.

Civ?

Welcome to the true way to play killer.
Just don't care about the trial anymore and ignore survivor feedback completely and you might find fun again.
3 -
It is a mind game. If you dc your mind broke and all the bp you earned is lost. You need to be stoic as a killer or just take a break.
0 -
Ah man, I've been toying around with the both scourge hooks on clown and it's been a blast. Especially with party bottles.

Taking a break doesn't work, the core issues still remain once you return. It doesn't matter how many days pass between my sessions, I'm equally frustrated and livid after just playing a single match. The constant abuse of second chance perks and the complete removal of killer pressure by a perk like CoH truly removes any actual fun the killer could extract from the game. Games are supposed to help you relax and to make you experience fun, playing DbD meanwhile feels like an actual job. And the worst thing is: you don't get paid for it.

Yeah pain resonance is a game changer for him imo. I’ve been running surge, STBFL, BBQ and pain resonance to great effect

If you want to chill a little, try some roleplay with my obsession challenge :
- ignore everyone but the obsession, your goal is to find the obsession (you can create a build around that)
- do everything to kill the obsession once you found him/her : tunnel, camp…
- enjoy (also your mmr will decrease and that’s always good for future games)

The way I deal with this is to actively not play the current killer meta. Think about it. The current killer meta is all about getting a down and hook quickly then snowballing like crazy off that hook with BBQ and Pop or Ruin to shred the gen of whoever goes for the save. If that first chase takes a little too long, that entire plan falls to pieces. Also that game plan is much more stressful. Because you know if you don't kick off the snowball, you will flounder ridiculously hard. Dead Hard's buff makes that plan falling to pieces much more likely.
Let me tell you something. Having the first time Dead Hard is even usable be after you've already inflicted a decent amount of damage to the Survivors is pretty great.

Does it matter?
You shouldn't have to play specific killers just to have fun.
I literally don't play Killer, and haven't for years, because of how unfun and stressful it is.
6 -
Honestly they should make all maps size smaller and change completely safe pallets into weaker loops. And making breaking breakable wall animation faster like 1.3 seconds.

It's funny that all these nerfs are being called for on survivors, yet when the developers presented the most recent sets of data, it's showing killers as over-performing, not survivor. Also, it's really interesting that there was a tournament recently where all perks were allowed and killers were getting roughly 2 kills per match.
Then again, this forum can sometimes become an echo chamber.
3 -
You're assuming I don't play longer than a few hours?
I play a lot of killer, just as much as survivor.
I just don't exaggerate.
4 -
I keep thinking about surge but at the same time I don't wanna dump agitation as I've gotten some down to the second pain hooks with it. Choices choices....

To me, the biggest contributor as to why killer isn't fun ATM is because of boons, or specifically, Circle of Healing.
Shadow Step & Exponential are fine, they're strong, but fine.
COH? Absolute [BAD WORD] and needs to be vaulted until fixed, because it is beyond broken and any semi-decent survivor team with access to this boon will have an easy match. There's just nothing you can do against it. Leave it? Survivors have infinite med-kits for the match, destroying your pressure or chance to snowball and forcing you to commit to chases, losing gen pressure. Go and break it? 4 survivors are uncontested and the generators will fly. Break it mid-chase? Enjoy losing minutes of progress and pressure to the team and to the chase you just dropped. Oh, and did I mention that the survivor(s) can just bless it again, and again, and again? Even if it was one-use only per survivor with the perk, IT would STILL be one of the strongest survivor perks in the game. It's absolutely nuts, and the only time the killer doesn't lose anything when breaking it, is if a survivor is dumb enough to be downed right next to it. But that isn't the killer outplaying the survivor(s), that's the survivor screwing his team over.
Assuming the survivors aren't potatoes, if you hear this perk, you lose. Simple as that, unless you're a God Nurse, there's nothing that the killer can do. You simply lose the match, or you can tunnel/camp right off the bat and hope to get 1-2 kills, but then you enter post-game chat and get verbally abused by the survivors for ruining their match, because of course god forbid the killer wants to play a game that isn't just 2 hooks, all gens done.
So if I hear a boon go up: I either tunnel hardcore immediately, or face camp someone if I'm playing my bubba, who's one of my mains. Or, I just go stand in a corner if it's too boring or I can't be bothered.
Any self-respecting survivor with a little bit of empathy will not run COH. If you do, you're basically doing what Killers used to do by bringing a 1-hook red mori and tunnelling asap. You're just ruining the experience for the other side, and this isn't even a case of ''git gud'' because it's unstoppable lol

It isn't a successful hit, it is counted as a miss, you just see it hit though. It is only unfair visually.
also I'm still having a blast, I played a round of padded jaws trapper and got a 0k but it was still a fun match even with the survivors trying super hard. I got a lot of hooks and played fair and good. When I actually try and win it is always either a win or a super close 2k+, the game isn't horribly abysmal like everyone thinks. If you think that way maybe you need to try and just play for fun because most sides definitely can make the experience miserable for the other. If you only play killer, try the other side and improve

Honestly people with this mindset need to get some mental break outside of the game too. Most people still find dbd fun and if you really see it as a job you can't stop playing then you really need to get some help or possibly just try to practice and get better. If you want to find a game that you always win and is purely fun, there are loads of single-player games out there, but in a pvp game it is silly to act like every match needs to be super easy and win every time lol
4 -
If you havent played killer for years then how do you know it is so stressful and awful lol it seems like people just hate that one side is harder than the other, what happened to people liking the challenge, go play something else if losing isn't in the cards for you
0 -
Yes, but their 'data' has also led them to believe that Billy needed to be dumpstered into the ground, that Deathslinger was completely OP and that while Ruin was too useful Boon totems are just fine.
I do not think that BHVR understands the meaning of the words 'data' and 'analytics' at all.
8 -
Is It though? I only see killers tunneling and proxycamping hooks and getting 3K with no problem.
3 -
only high MMR killers will understand his post. Just gotta wait for next years mid-chapter patches in hopes that killer becomes more dynamic and fun to play. first post was most amusing comment for survivor ignorance. It must be a different world at low MMR.
I am not sure how I could describe it. With killer, its like your actions have no meaning of outcome of the match and you have nothing to improve on with 90% of the killers. With survivor, none of your mistakes matter because you escape regardless of how bad you play in many cases so there is no incentive to ever improve further.

Unless it also makes your power not activate as it should. The classic example is Nemesis using tentacle whip over a dropped pallet.
- Nemmy initiates whip.
- Survivor on the other side of the pallet uses Dead Hard
- Attack misses Survivor (correct result)
- Attack does not break pallet (incorrect result)
This has been proven with Nemmy's whip, Twin's Victor leaping & a bunch of other killer powers. I have no issues with a legit miss not taking effect, however the killer is currently getting screwed and that's not as it's supposed to be working.
Of course, this will be fixed by 2029 at the earliest given past experience...

"Just don't play our game" is absurdly cocky and a terrible idea when VHS is on the horizon. "Go to our competitor!"
There is no way to "get better" enough that you can be on par with 4 man SWF with comms. It is functionally not possible with how the game is currently designed and balanced unless you're Nurse. People who pretend this stuff is about skill are basically stating they think this game is balanced, which is laughable. If it was balanced, people wouldn't use "party game" all the time to describe it.
4 -
also to the people complaining about dead hard i found a way to counter it just don't lunge walk until you are in the range where you can just tap m1 and they only have 3 options
- get hit
- deadhard early and waste it
- be an absolute GOD and dead hard at the perfect frame and make them still miss (which almost never happens)
it only adds like 5 seconds to the chase but it's better then 2 more minutes of chase
trust me im a killer main and dh is annoying so counter play is necessary
0 -
You haven't played killer enough if you think that counters dead hard in every situation
5 -
Other than recently for people defending this ######### who on earth considered this a "party game"?
0 -
I'm absolutley sick and tired of people asking "what killer do you play?"
It shouldn't matter, every killer should be able to compete. If I play Ghostface or Clown I should be able to go into a game feeling I can win just the same as playing Nurse or Blight. The devs need to buff damn near 80% of the killers but they literally don't have the baalls to do so because they have to play everything super safe with the killer side.
Hex Blood Favor was trash before they buffed it and there reasoning was "we launched the perk safe to make sure it wouldn't get out of control." Yeah but Boons get launched and can be relit 100 times, nice. Lmao
7 -
Exactly and to be honest that's part of the reason I'm worried about dlc and killer mains going forwards cause its either going to turn into viability being only 10% and dlc being only worth $1 cause of the constant nerfs to almost all killers at this point
5 -
Different perspective, same game. I’ll have matches where I can be chill and just have fun. Then I’ll have some where I’m struggling for first hooks on people.

The nerf to cenobites engineer fang is an absolute disgrace. Those chains are not easy to hit all the time, survivors know how to dodge them and they are hard to control. I think that add on should basically be base kit on him. As well as pinky finger on clown and Pyramid Heads range add ons. The pinky finger add on will be the next thing to get nerfed, on Clown who's maybe the worst killer in the game.
2 -
As it is right now it seems that for as much as the devs want to say they aren't biased for the most part they are or just don't care about it being balanced. I swear the more I read on the patch notes the more I'm thinking we are just going to get m1 killers and just make the only unique thing about each side being their perks and add-ons instead of the base kit.
I might be exaggerating a little but given how it's been going can you blame me?
2 -
CoH is a straight up counter to any hit and run killer. Which is why more killers are either not caring anymore, or try to learn the top killers better to stand a chance at 4Ks.
1 -
I am actually starting to believe that this is a survivor game and killers only exist to give survivors a gameplay experience. Survivors have WAY to many second chances, pallets, windows, and solid killers coming out and immediately getting nerfed.
Play an M1 killer on the meat plant map against solid survivors and the entire game is just you breaking pallets and getting nothing accomplished. 5 gens will be done you'll have maybe 2 hooks and only like 1/3 of the pallets on the map are broken.
6 -
Eh, it’s not a balanced game in the slightest. The odds can be stacked in any players favor depending on perks, items/add ons, killer selection, and mistakes made. That said if a killer can pull a 2 piece it’s better than nothing. I’m a killer main and I look forward to the day when legitimate balance issues are brought up with raw data examined. But it’ll be a journey to that end state.

I mean yeah, that happens. You're not meant to dominate or win every game, you just gotta move on to the next
