Any particular reason why the holiday event ends on the 23rd?
If plans have changed then great, but otherwise having a holiday event end 2 days before Christmas seems a tad weird. I can understand not wanting to extend something to the first of the year, but having a holiday event end right before the actual holiday that it's celebrating is kinda head scratching.

I’m hoping they have a surprise event for the weekend. I know I shouldn’t after being let down multiple times in the past, but I can’t help it.

Probably because the team will be off for a bit leading up to the new year. Would look weird having a holiday event during the new year.

Please remember that Christmas is not the only holiday, which is why it's a Holiday Event and not a specific Christmas Event.
And yes, I think the decision was most likely made because from then the Office is closed and staff are off up until the New Year.

Even so, it doesn't mean that the game goes offline until the team is back from break. You would think that they could program the event to end after the 25th.

And if something goes wrong at that point and prevents people from playing the game?
It's a matter of risk with the Live game...a lot wiser to not have things change when people are not available to fix things.

And what's wrong with leaving the event until the new year? You have nothing else coming in until the new year anyway, so what's wrong with leaving it up?

The event works fine for the last two weeks, so what can break just out of nowhere?
I mean, if the game gets hacked or something, or ddos'd, staff still have to go to the office to repair the situation.

I was replying to a comment about taking the Event offline just after the 25th - which as I pointed out nobody is in the office at that point if something goes wrong
