How do we feel about pain resonance?
Too weak too strong or balanced?
Tbh this is my favourite killer perk released since Surge. It’s amazing info and regression without being oppressive to the survivor side. It’s a game changer for killers like clown or slinger who can’t reliably use ruin or pop and still works well on fast killers like blight
One thing I noticed is that breakdown can be a surprisingly decent counter to it. I had one game where I would’ve gotten multiple activations the the hook being broken prevented that. Otherwise sabo can be used as a counter if the survivor knows where it is
The only change I’d make is to scourge hooks in general which is to make all basement hooks scourge hooks. The basement should be the best area to hook so making them scourge hooks only makes sense

Balanced. Honestly, it's an example of a perfect perk.
It's strong, it has counterplay, it forces risks and decision making on the killer side but rewards those if you succeed. We need more perks like this.

I am genuinely wondering how they will get nerfed. I don't want them to be, but I feel like they will.
Pain resonance aggressively punishes survivors who refuse to think. Survivors will try and crowd hook not realizing that hooking you all one at a time basically will destroy the last 10 minutes of your game. Yet I have had two or three survivors not grasp this. Constantly.
Its great because since they are so expectant of you to tunnel they will essentially set themselves up for getting three hooks in a row screwing over their poor fourth teammate watching 45% of their gen blow up literally in their face. Then when you continue to not tunnel they push harder and harder to get you to tunnel to try to avoid the gen carnage slowing their own progress down.
Thantaphobia gets great value here as once again the poor sob trying to get gens done is now going much slower and having 15% explosions in their face.

Very rng dependant. More than I thought initially. Still, better than most perks we've had in a while.

It's very RNG, but overall it's a balanced perk. It's very fun to use too.
1 -
It's one of those 'if you nerf this, I'm 100% done because it means your vision for the game is totally different to mine' things.

Honestly barring 1 game on swamp I had no issue getting to scourge hooks. Combining it with agitation could help alleviate that too
1 -
Yeah it’s nice to have a regression option that isn’t just ruin or pop. Especially on low mobility killers where neither were great
1 -
basement scourgehooks should be a thing aswell.
6 -
It's a perfect middle ground between Ruin and Pop in terms of RNG and effect. I really enjoy using it - going against it can be infuriating when people decide to hook trade at a scourge hook, though.
4 -
Yeah that can be annoying but honestly no more annoying than people constantly leaving gens with ruin or tapping gens against pop

Basement scourgehooks would be awful against a hag or some killer with agitation + iron grasp. I think there could be more scourge hooks instead, but not in basement. Otherwise it would need a long cooldown.

I like it.

I think it's the best killer perk to be released since I started playing the game, which has been almost two years now (other than original Undying). It's now a staple on every killer build I have (with the exception of Trapper and Hag, since I don't want RNG to send those hooks into areas I'm not planning on defending), and it's outright replaced PGTW on the builds I had that perk on.
Targeting the gen that's most needed of regression while saving you the time to head to the gen to kick it is a huge help to nearly every killer on the roster, and it's also a nice information perk as well, but the perk is balanced by the potential downsides of RNG putting the hooks in bad locations, the possibility that your chases keep ending where Scourge hooks aren't readily available, there only being four of them (or fewer, if you sacrifice a survivor on one), and the necessity to actually be hooking people regularly in order to get value out of it. It's actually a well thought-out perk that manages to be powerful but not overbearing to go against.

I think it's a great perk, but super annoying to face.
1 -
Stop putting pain in so many perk names.
Seriously, the third scourge hook had better not have Pain in it, because that's just going to get confusing. Also when the game has grunts OF PAIN all over the place. Pain pain painy pain pain.
2 -
Finally a decent perk since undying
5 -
Tbf we’ve had some other okay ones. Mainly No way out which is actually very strong
1 -
Third One needs to be called Scouge hook: Pain pain painy pain pain now
1 -
No way out only became good when they buffed, because when trickster came, no way out was bad
0 -
The hook placement is abysmal who even thought that making them randomly spawn so they could be close together was a good idea?
0 -
I think Monstrous Shrine should make Basement Hooks Scourge Hooks. That way, there's at least a commitment to want to take advantage of it.

This year has had quite a few good perks for Killer.
- Starstruck
- No Way Out
- Lethal Pursuer (it's grown on me)
- Deadlock
- Hex: Plaything
- Hex: Pentimento
- Pain Resonance
These are all pretty good perks.

Not a fan of the RNG spawns. It's too swingy in either direction IMO. Get 2+ scourge hooks in a good area? Tons of regression for the killer, a hook in each corner on red forest? Good luck getting value out of it. I would much prefer both cases get toned down and have a happy medium(something in the vein of just let killers control what hooks they scourge and give it a token system with a 5+ second animation to scourge a hook)

Some maps can be annoying - Midwich, Badham, Pantry and some Forest maps can have really bad hook spawns.

Weak, I prefer save the best for last or bamboozle over this. Slow down perks doesn't even do anything against SWF so whatever
0 -
I went through this phase myself, then I realized that against those SWFs...there aren't really any perks that will help you out. I love STBFL+Surge+PR on almost all my killers now, and I find them pretty consistent.
1 -
Yeah, slow down gens are literally nothing for them. It's better to use offensive build than defensive
0 -
Before PR, I was Plaything+Retribution - as the one thing that tends to carry me is info and the passive pressure Plaything applies is quite amazing.
Then I ran into a SWF that totally ignored Plaything and just bypassed it with coms and I stopped running it.
0 -
Yeah, plaything is basically useless against them since they have coms. Like literally any perk that gives you undetectable or gives them oblivious status effect is meh. It's way better to play with perks like save the best for last or bamboozle

It's a cool perk. It's not too oppressive and I can counter it easily. I mean, if I don't want the Killer to know I'm working on the generator while it explodes, I can stop repairing when they pick up the downed Survivor.
Really cool perk IMO. I'm gonna use it. But I've seen on streams that sometimes, the Scourge hooks are close to each other on one side of the map. I found it was... kind of meh if you're on the opposite side.

Outside of swamp, Haddonfield, and RPD its a great perk. Have yet to get it on any om my killers though. I have been primarily using Artist though so I guess it dont matter.
Scourge, STBL, plaything, Pentimento
Pentimento, Ruin, Lullaby, and Thrill.
My primary builds now.

Yeah it’s nice to have some more meta options. Even survivors got COH at least
0 -
I think it’s a very good perk, but I think it’s pretty balanced. It gives you less regression than pop but you don’t have to kick the gen yourself which is huge on killers that don’t have good mobility. Screaming as survivor is actually very easy to counter, though - just let go of your gen for a second when you see someone’s aura reappear as they get hooked.
What’s scary about it is that you can stack it with ruin and/or pop, something those two perks can’t do as effectively with each other (you can have both ruin and pop but you can’t use pop until ruin is gone, with PR you don’t have that problem).
1 -
Accepting that no perk can help against SWF is precisely why I dont feel bad whatsoever being a One Perk Andy with Lethal, BBQ, NOED, NWO.
If nothing matters then I'll use what's comfortable.
Just this morning I got demolished by a tight team. Super efficient looping, great Dead Hards, amazing Sprint Bursts, amazing sabos, cheeky flashlights, pallet saves...you name it.
No amount of Ruin, Undying, Pop Tinkerer will salvage that. So I'll bide my time and be patient and engineer a 4k.

Unless you get some ######### indoor map like RPD or spread hook maps like swamp, you can get a decent value out of this perk.
I like it a lot, even paired it with agitation on some builds to get ######### done
0 -
Pretty much this. With clown you don’t even have to run agitation since your antidote can make up for the movement speed
The only bad rng I got was swamp but honestly that map is so bad it doesn’t really matter
1 -
For real! I once had a game were I hooked one survivor and then skirmished and traded hooks with the others for several minutes, until the last hook didn't proc, because there was no gen to regress anymore. The game ended with a 4K and they barely got 2 gens finished.
0 -
I had a match on The Game where I ended up with a 3k at 4 gens because at no point did the survivors think I wouldn't tunnel. So they'd unhook and go to pick up the third downed person while the unhooked would run away.
They were always so sure I was gonna tunnel they would squat on the other side of the wall without iron will and seemed genuinely shocked when five seconds later I'd be knocking them around.
I let the poor Feng that wasn't an idiot go I felt so damm bad for her. Just non stop screaming from her all match.

Hook spawns need to be adjusted so that not all hooks spawn on the same side of the map, other than that, in my opinion, one of the best perks in the game.
