Do you go for saves in endgame? (solo q)

Member Posts: 903

When the five gens are done... but one survivor is hooked (in solo q). Do you go for the save?

When i'm the last survivor hooked, i'd rather have my teammates escape as three than giving the killer more kills for no reason. But they always go to save me... and then i feel obligated to do the same (what doesn't always end well).

Saves are my priority. Unless extremely unsafe, I'll go for a save. I'd rather die and have someone else escape from a hook trade than have myself escape without trying to go for a save.

If I'm the only one alive and someone is on hook and another one slugged or both on hook and I'm pretty sure the killer have noed I won't risk. If I know he doesn't have noed I will go for save.

If this teammate was an exemplary teammate, I will save him even if there is 100% chance to go on my third hook.

If I'm not helping it's because we both can't get out of there. (Everyone left except me / I'm injured / we are far from the gate / I don't have a perk that can help us out)

There are situations where I leave, like when others leave and make the unhook harder, NOED up on a killer that arguably played toxic or vs killers that are simply designed to profit from facecamp like trickster or Bubba. Or when it is obvious that everyone dies to the entity, like gates opened too soon or when hooked too far from gates.

But in most cases it is pretty easy with a semi competent team to do a successful unhook

I am the altruistic survivor. Of course, if it has NOED and I am doing a challenge, the challenge takes priority over it. I don't risk going for a save if I don't have BT but I will if I see no one going for the save either.

I'd rather have a fun end-game and give the killer the 4K than just have a three of us escape. More fun for me, more points for the killer.

I don't think you should feel obliged to do the same yourself though.

Unless they sandbagged me earlier in the match or a few other caveats.

I'm running the perk Left Behind, what do you think?

Well, it is kinda lame to just leave the match without trying. So i'll keep doing it anyway. Furthermore, i've started to track my escapes... and i'm seeing that i don't die as much as i thought i was. Apparently, i'm a bit annoyed by solo q gameplay for a different reason than i thought. After getting more data i'll probably make a thread about it.

Depends on teammates and which killer we vsed.

But yeah, sometimes I do. And if someone was too nice to me I will die for them.

Usually at the endgame the killer starts camping, and since I don't have BT if nobody else with it is going for unhook, I won't help. I'll still happily body block though.

il try, unless the killer has NOED or the gates have been opened

Unless the killer is camping or there's not enough time on the EGC timer or hook timer for me to save, I'll always go for an endgame save.

Unless if they're too far away to get to on time or if I have the exposed status effect.

Without a doubt!! One of the most fun aspects of the game!

    Almost always

circumstances do pend, in certain cases, but I’ve even managed decent saves VS camping Bubba’s and lived to enjoy the thrill even more.

Last second saves are a rush

    No.

But very depending on the situation. If we tried to save at the end it very often results in death for everyone.

But sometimes i will try even if i know i will die.

But as stated here a lot - Killer camping, NOED, very far from gate - or open escape challenge (!) - then no.

Yes depending on the situation if it's a killer that's got NOED or just an instadown I don't usually go for it cause it will mostly end in a disaster for both the hooked and unhooker survivor

Yes unless t-bagging teammates they will be left on hook while I point at them and exit gate t-bag the survivor and then I leave. Otherwise I will rescue and take the death for my teammates that is what makes the game fun..helping others.

Depends, but mostly yes. I am the kind of player who doesn't cry about noed and simply brings map with counterforce or dead hard if others want to use boons.

I will always try my best and have pulled off some good end game saves. However it does depend on the situation like if it's a Bubba and he's basement camping and there's two people down there then no because that will just end up with a 3k.

i go for save always unless we are both gonna die for whatever reason if i do ill sacrifice myself for the rando to get out for sure especially if i see my teammates being to scared to do so

Provided it’s not a suicide mission I always go for the save.

I'll go for it pretty much no matter what, just to see if I can get the hooked survivor out. I feel better dying a hero than running away, even though I know it doesn't matter.

Dying ensures that my mmr stays low so I either give the poor lad a mercy kill or sacrifice myself for a random teammate.

Yes, low mmr solo queue is currently the only way I still have fun in this game ;)

I used to sacrifice myself to make end game saves but stopped with SBMM.

If it is worth it to try and make the save I will, but if the killer is dead set on not moving then I can't and won't help you.

Does the answer still count if you assist in saves? I will put my boon up close to the hook or the escape area closest to the hook and then sabotage if i have a toolbox available and take a hit assuming the proper killer

I mostly weigh up the odds of it succeeding.

What tends to happen is the killer has NOED, the egc timer is on and I'm SoloQ with maybe 0-2 survivors around somewhere I don't know, and my brain figures that the chance of succeeding is almost non-existent.

    Then my gaming soul says:

Depends on a lot of things.

Where are they hooked? What Killer is it? How far are they from an open/99%'d exit gate? What perks do I have? What perks do they have? Are my other team-mates gonna help?
