Dead Hard isn’t required
I haven’t used Dead Hard in over a month on Survivor and don’t miss it.
The perk I use now is Overcome. It generally buys me enough time to reach loops after I’m injured in chase and frequently makes the Killer give up chase altogether.
I actually find myself getting more use out of Overcome than Dead Hard because it allows me to take protection hits risk free and run off to heal (in COH).

Lithe is better.

I like Balanced but dead hards "Haha mr killer, I dont need to pay the exit gate toll to pass" too good to pass up. No exhaustion perk, including SB will get you past them if ur injured

I don’t use exhaustion period. It’s funny seeing a killer run mindbreaker and know he wasted a slot

Feels bad though the few times I'm running Open Handed. I love being situationally aware so Fearmonger stresses me out

True as a bond gamer the new buff actually hurts a lot

Dh is the only reason I have fun in this game. It’s the only unpredictable thing you can do as survivor

Dead Hard isn't required, it just trumps over all other Exhaustion Perks strength wise

I don't even bother using an exhaustion perk most games. My basic build is WoO, IW, BT, and SC. The only time I even think about DH is when I think "Man if I had DH right there I would have made it" which usually lets me know I messed up there somehow. Either by greeding, making a poor read, not taking distance etc.

My main exhaustion perk was head on but got me camped majority of my games so I'm now back 2 Dh! 😁

Sounds like me when i use my Sabo build lol
Saboteur/Breakdown/Dead Hard/Empathy

In solo queue exhaustion perks feels almost completely necessary

Overcome is friggin nuts. Outright denying chase viability in most circumstances is big, and I've been timing it - it's a bigger value than DH for me and one other friend in roughly 87% of our chases comparatively. If I get a few more people in on that experiment, I might properly collate and release recording data.

I'd consider running it if Ghostface and Leatherface weren't such popular killers for me.
Leatherface in particular makes me struggle in justifying this perk because the odds of seeing him may as well be 1 in 3..

Overcome is only really optimal with Iron Will/Spine Chill/ Lucky Break with a good Medkit with charges (speed Medkit) Good perk though

I've been sitting pretty with Botany Knowledge, Circle of Healing, Overcome, and Borrowed Time - most often with a brown medkit and no addons for setup. 2 meta perks per player typically means we're getting 3-4 escapes and minimal hooks.
It's not like looping is hard, and the dev's choice to "balance" by filling most maps with pallets means you don't have to bother with an extra greed if you don't feel confident. Killer at higher levels of play is about waiting for survivors to make mistakes: all you have to do, as a survivor, is play it calm.

I just don't use exhaustion perks.

Ah yes, the thing nearly every Survivor has and will use like clockwork when you swing, or when you're so close the paranoia gets the better of them, or if there's any vault/pallet coming up. How unpredictable.

For reference, if curious, I had a poll a few weeks ago with a decent response asking what Exhaustion perk, if any, people use most regularly if they run just one. Dead Hard was by far the most popular response. About 11% of respondents said they don’t use Exhaustion perks, and about 33% use Dead Hard. Adrenaline and Lithe were both next up at 11%, followed (surprisingly) by Head On at 9%.

I stopped to use DH a few weeks ago... Well, I know I won't be back to it soon. I have much more fun with Overcome and SB.
DH is the best exhaustion but it's not mandatory for doing a good chasd IMO.
I see DH a lot too, but lately, I have seen Lithe more and more.

How is it unpredictable? A survivor having dead hard is probably the most predictable thing in this entire game

lol Sprint Burst users and Dead Hard users are very predictable. When they stand there and wait for you to come to them really close they will have Sprint Burst (unless they're bad at the game) and personally i never swing until i know for sure that they dont have it, then i down them. The same is done to me minius SB which i dont use at all

yeah haha thats one of my favorite builds when I swf and that gets me camped as well. I can understand, a 4 man swf with it would make most killers mald
