Kill Switch update: Amanda's Letter add-on for The Pig has been Kill Switched due to an issue with incorrect RBT count.

Time of day MATTERS and will impact your matches more than you think.

Title.

If you can play at peak hours.

You'll get a better pool of survivors, you'll have better matched survivors and you will have more chill players. Faster lobbies.

You'll see a wider range of killers, better all round matched team and you will also verse more chill killers. Faster lobbies.

This isnt a proven fact this is both logical and been my experience for some time, I know we cant all pick what time we play which is an issue I face often and get hit with longer lobbies etc. But theres a few reasons alot of streamers/content creators play at peak times.

Struggling with the game? Long lobbies? Try a different time (peak time) if you're able.

Some people have lives and can only play on specific time of the day lol.

And if you read the post I said not everyone would be able to. I myself have to play at off peak times most days.

Sharing experiences and suggesting stuff for those who can.

Legit the second line after "title" says if you can. And even if the bigger paragraph I state not everyone can.

What's peak time for EU? I mean, if you're from EU.

Depends how strict you wish to be.

2-9pm is a good start or if you wish to be more strict go 4pm onwards, this time is when most schools would be finished and some players return from work.

Should be the same for any region as I dont believe any region has more night shift workers.

Do note these suggestions are week days mon-Friday:)

I'm working usually super early in the morning to have my afternoon free. 2 PM-9 PM CET is the time I play. I didn't notice anything special about the players I'm matched with/against...

You're already playing peak time then, this does not mean you wont have hard or easy games as either time. It simply means your games would be more average due to mass amount of players

Edit: just saying more casuals, from kids to hard workers would be on then. It's never gonna be night and day but for me it certainly is better, even if it's just by a small margin. And faster lobbies are always nice anyway

I mean, yeah. During the day I get average/great players and during the night either get really good players or people who play like they are new to the game.

I usually play this game around 2-3 AM, so you can probably guess what type of players I get matched with.

Cant say I play at that time since mmr was introduced maybe back when the game was new many years ago lol.

I fear for your lobby times, mine take ages

Yeah this is pretty common sense. Survivor lobbies are very slow in the evening on EU servers, since most people with lives have time to play around that time (Work/School finished). Meanwhile, during the day, the average active person will be working or studying, which usually leaves survivor players that will probably be playing this game far more obsessively, given they likely play this game more on the regular with limited responsibilities. People who have more unusual schedules can also play at this time, but I think they're rarer than those that just play video games a whole lot.

Totally agree. My matches during the day (EU) are wayyyy more enjoyable on both sides.

At night it's a sweat fest as killer and I get potatoes as team mates.

This is a theoretical possibility to explain such variance in skill but I think its really just Occam's Razor in the sense its as simple as "The system is just bad."

I also like how people are both saying earlier is easier and harder in the same thread. Its more proof this is just pure anecdote and no one really knows at all.

Alot of things can factor how a match will go, you can have the same map, killer & survivors, same perks etc. But the rng be completely different.

Since there are so many variables you obviously cant be certain. And I think the reason for the good/bad games at any time is quite simply due to good players dont only play at x time.

But like most experiments a small sample size can often be classed as void/anomalies. But in a bigger pool you will have a wider range of players in there so those "extra hard" games may not appear as often. Doesnt mean you cant have the hardest game of your life at peak hours.

Counterpoint: during peak hours the MMR system doesn't have to stretch the boundaries as wide, indicating it should be more accurate due to more players and less strictness.

When I play during the day, survivor queues are very short, and sometimes killer queues are actually longer than survivor.

When I play during the witching hours, getting into a game as survivor can sometimes take half an hour, and killer queues are instant.

Killer queues also go way up when a new killer is released and around holidays, for obvious reasons, but it's otherwise pretty rare than I have to wait (as killer) very long at any time of day.

EDIT: I haven't noticed any differences in game difficulty or matchmaking, though.

I actually did briefly mention that in the OP. Stated that theres a bigger pool and youd be matched better.

I'm not saying peak time will always be easier, I'm saying it will better averaged instead of an extreme case.

So if people feel they're being miss matched etc. Due to backfill the peak time would help.

But also because of backfill you will likely get a range of skilled players not all mega strong or mega weak.

Because if you always play on the same timetable you will never see any difference, I work shifts so I can play pretty much at any time of the day.

This applies to Europe, in my experience before 14:00 CET Survivor queues are shorter and Killer ones longer and you will find more toxic Killers, between 14:00 and 22:00 both queues are rather short and the teams pretty similar in skill, youll get the best matches in this bracket and after 22:00 CET Killer queues are shorter and Survivor queues grow exponentially, youll find more toxic Survivors and the biggest skill disparity between teams, you could be paired with the Special Forces or with newcomers with 40 hours in the game (both as Killer and Solo).
