Why punish everyone because of a few individuals
Read that Bubba's faces were being removed because a couple of people used it as a way of racism.
It's a sad thing indeed that this happens, but why punish everyone by removing the masks instead of just banning those players. It's a feature that has been in the game since he got released and it felt as a nice touch on the solo killer. Removing this, removes a part of his personality.
I don't really understand why this drastic choice was made, if a harsher punishment for those few would've been enough.

Mostly I don't understand how removing the masks will actually stop those players from doing what they're doing. They're still racist #########. Taking away a cosmetic doesn't turn them into normal players who won't try to grief and harass people on the basis of race.
The moderation in this game needs to be quicker and better, full stop.

They were banning people for this. The problem is you can't get them all. They elected to remove the thing giving them the option to behave in an awful manner.
Is it guaranteed to work? No, but it can't hurt. As I said in another thread if it stops it happening once it's worth it to me.

But, like, is removing Smartface actually going to reduce instances of racism? Because these people are still racist twits on DBD and I don't see what's stopping them from facecamping a Claudette and spewing hate in the endgame chat. This only does anything if Smartface made the racism worse in and of itself. Which maybe it did in some way I can't understand.
I just want this game to have half-decent moderation and I think this is trying to band-aid the issue in entirely the wrong way.

If they do that then the chat logs can be used to get them banned. Removing the faces removes a tool they were using. Maybe in the end it will have no effect. We won't know until it's tried though.

A couple of cosmetics, no matter how cool they were, is not worth having actual people being harrased over.
It's sad that it had to happen but i can't really disagree with it

People are being obtuse and contrarian for the sake of it, I swear. Players were targeting POC while wearing the masks. The masks were being used as a tool in that act by those individuals. Players have voiced that they were uncomfortable with the masks to begin with. The tool is being removed to prevent players from using it in that manner in the future. This is not difficult to understand.

It's dumb because they're essentially saying if you use our cosmetics then you're racist which is not true. It's not a racist cosmetic, if anything it shows that Leatherface doesn't care who he kills and he doesn't judge based on race.

I'm not really punished. 6k iridescent shards for free and I never used the faces anyways.

It may be a tool those people use, but it's one of many in DBD. If the devs are starting to act that way, why not remove all which could be used as a tool for racism.
Also, the fact that people are uncomfortable with the masks is kind of of no importance. It's a horror game, there are many things people feel uncomfortable about.There were people uncomfortable with the fact that you have to option to kick Victor, shouldn't mean the devs should delete Victor aswell.

DbD needs more earnable cosmetics, not fewer. I wish they'd at least leave the Dwight and Meg masks in the game. Removing all four because of the way some people abused one sucks for those of us who never broke the rules.

My sole issue with their removal is not giving players auric cells in return. Now, if you want to still use a unique mask and not the default, you are forced to buy cells and spend real money. I honestly don't think that was a coincidence. Outside of that, I don't care much if they are removed but I think the compensation given is laughable and should 100% be cells. Heck, it's not even enough to buy ONE very rare cosmetic piece with shards. And you can't buy ANY Bubba cosmetic for shards.
