Which Killer Is The Closest To Perfection Design Wise?
For me, it's a toss up between Plague and Demogorgon.
- Both are strong, but not broken.
- Both have depth and counterplay.
- Both can be powerful if played well.
- Both have excellent addons that can completely alter the way they play without making them a meme.
Artist comes close in terms of her kit, but her addons let her down.
Myers has the opposite problem. Great (mostly) addons, but an outdated kit.

Pre-nerf Billy. He was almost perfect before overheat was added. Maybe one op add on. He was popular and fair, since the nerf I have not even played against a single Billy. Very sad.

Basekit Blight without using exploits is perfect killer design. Completely denies Holding w and has good map pressure, while also having a good chase power with counterplay and mindgames for both sides.

Pyramid Head
Might be because I main him and therefore know how to play against him, but chases as and against PH are really fun and interactive.

I would've said deathslinger before the nerfs but....
Well we all know what happened
3 -
Nurse. She eliminates looping. Get gens done and get out...or die. Feels like your actually playing a horror game.
10 -
Spirit. She has counterplay and amazing 4v1 potential. Very fun to play as and against.
2 -
Huntress for reasons I mentioned in another thread but will repeat here. She's one of the main killers I respect for her skill ceiling and when she does well, it's actually because the player put in a lot of practice and has amazing aim, not carried by a power that does work for you with little to no skill involved.
You actually have to BE good with her, not just get carried by your power or perks

Nurse, Blight, Pre-nerf Freddy, Pre-Nerf Billy, Plague, Post-Shred Buff Demo (That's still a thing, right?)
They have good powers, counterplay, and are just overall nice.
Edit: AND MOST IMPORTANTLY OF ALL PRE-NERF DEATHSLINGER. You filthy savages.

Oni, Blight, original Billy and Demo.
1 -
I do agree with Demogorgon, I think he is the most consistent killer created.
0 -
I would say Blight even at the highest level there's still counterplay to Blight which most survivors wouldn't know unless they have played the killer
1 -
Overheat has barely affected Billy's gameplay tho. Animations being changed and his flick being reduced(and thus his wallgrinds being mostly removed) has affected Billy much more.
1 -
Freddy was super boring tho. Fun is a very important aspect when it comes to playing games.
1 -
Demogorgon and Pinhead maybe.
0 -
Boring for who?

I'm gonna vote Oni. He's your standard 115% killer and doesn't have some cheeky gimmick that can let you win/lose a chase you would have otherwise won/lost. He approaches you, you get slashed, Oni gets rewarded.
Let Oni get rewarded enough and he gets a turbo boost. It is the survivor's fault that Oni has this turbo boost. That is very cut and dry truth every time.
The only thing that smidgens my pigeon with Oni is when he runs Infectious Fright and yeets your whole team to the shadow realm in 30 seconds. I don't like that very much.
1 -
Uhhhhhh
0 -
Pinhead?
I'd disagree amazingly.
After his nerf, about half of his addons are almost useless and any indoor map against a half competent team means 'you don't have a power'.
Oh, and whatever that tech/exploit is that allows people to solve the box without allowing you to teleport still exists.
2 -
Did I stutter?

Demo. Huntress. Plague. Pre-"rework" Billy minus his instasaw addons.
1 -
Survivors. And yeah, you might be like "but X is boring too". Thing is, so far, either people have been neutral towards it or actually had fun against it. Freddy was unanimously boring to face.
0 -
He's still boring for survivors. He's just bad now - boring kit, awful, dog-poop tier addons.
1 -
Oh yeah, he's in an awful state. I would reallly like OG Freddy back with some minor adjustments from Rework Freddy.
OG Freddy had aura reading if you were outside 8 meters and asleep, this should be changed to 16 meters instead for the following adjustment:
Asleep survivors are exposed, aka, they would either need to stay injured, or wake up ASAP. Freddy can see you, and you know he's coming.
Keep the generator teleportation.
It would basically give some meaning to the clocks in the game. Because right now, and even before the nerf, the clocks are quite useless.

Currently? Blight (base kit).
Previously? Hillbilly.

I'll never understand the simping for Huntress.
She's by and enlarge one of the most unfun killers to vs.
3 -
Really? I don't mind facing her. I just see her so often that it gets very old.
I was really hopeful that Artist would break the trinity, but unfortunately the nerf to her 'bird mines' was just enough to nudge her out.

In a world of dedicated servers in DBD, I don't get why people consider her "well designed". Ranged killers overall aren't good design, but Huntress is even more annoying because she doesn't just throw hatchets. She throws hatchets with Cadillac sized hitboxes.
0 -
Pinhead. No questions asked. I rarely if ever use add-ons.
0 -
pre-nerf billy base kit, and current base kit blight are the closest imo, huntress would be up there too if her hitboxes were a little better
2 -
Honestly gonna have to say Plague. Her buff made her almost, if not completely perfect design-wise (I would actually argue that she's absolutely perfect.) She's strong, balanced, fun to play as and interactive to play against, counters many survivor perks while having counterplay on her own. Her base-kit is excellent, and her add-ons are amazing post-buff.
1 -
Yeah I really enjoy Plague. She's one of my go-to 'I've had a bad game and need to enjoy myself' killers.
Still astonishingly rare though.

When an aspect of gameplay one piece of the community enjoys is "boring" for another piece of the community, that is code.

Oni and Blight

Nurse as the best, Blight as second best.

How do you define best designed? Ask a survivor main and they will say easy to bully. Ask a killer main and they will see easy to 4k. I would say the best designed killer is the one that can at least draw against 4 man SWFs and theoretically have an infinite skill cap. That would be Nurse or Blight.

Hillbilly and Huntress. Both are similarly designed but for different purposes.
Hillbilly is super fast and can insta down but he has to charge up his chainsaw and has a reasonable counter. He also takes a lot of skill and is a deep character that is rewarding but very balanced.
Pretty much the same thing with Huntress. She's not fast but she has map control with range and can hit over pallets but has a long startup animation that gives survivors time to mind game, dodge, etc. She also requires a lot of skill and has reasonable counterplay.

You shouldn't be punished for using your power aka overheat mechanic

Oni is pretty much perfect in every category
- His power is strong but has actual counterplay
- He has to earn his power through playing well
- He gives ample info for solo players to what is happening in the match
- His visual design/lore are the best BHVR have done
Only character to come close imo is huntress

Remove alchemist ring and make it base kit

There are many good Killer in the game: Plague, Oni, Hillbilly, Artist, Cenobite, Blight and Demogorgon come to mind.
Now I personally like Oni and Hillbilly the most.
I will go with Oni however because his playstyle changes by 180° once he turns on his power. That power is insanely strong when somebody knows what they are doing and it is very exciting to use. Against Oni you get to play against a M1 Killer but you also get to play against a very lethal monster. Not to mention his power has map presence and utility. His chase music rocks and he just emits this "Killer" vibe that some other "Killers" (Legion) are missing. Perfect Killer in my opinion, please do not change him.
I also like the Artists very much. Her counterplay is interesting, she has information, she has map presence and she is a strong Killer. The devs took a good balance with power and map control/information with her, which is nice to see after a Killer like Trickster. Also once again her look is pretty fitting for a horror game, her theme is good and overall I like playing against her.
Cenobite is a personal favorite: Yes, he is not that strong. But his style, his animations and his overall presence in the game are perfectly executed. He feels like I imagined Pinhead to feel. His power is a bit on the weaker side sadly but it is interesting: The chains have nice tricks and interesting counterplay and the chainhunt is a good slowdown, offering me as a survivor a good secondary objective. Could have a bit stronger power but the design is top notch for me.
(All informations here are only valid if the Killer does not tunnel or camp. Both ruin the fun for the survivors.)

Anna.
She is pretty well balanced, High skill high reward.

Basekit Plague and Blight. You can do well with them without perks or addons.

Oni

Oni is Captain Balanced, also arguably the best designed too aesthetically and power wise (fun for and against, has counters). Plague runs a close 2nd and I don't even play her. Excellent design and well rounded.
2 -
Good design, balanced and fun to vs: Blight, Oni, Huntress, Billy, Spirit, Pyramid Head, Nemesis, Demogorgon, Freddy, Doctor, Bubba, Nurse.
Balanced but boring: Plague, Hag, Twins, Artist, Pinhead.
The rest should get a little tweak and or buff to be more more balanced.
Blight tops them all. Super design, fun, strong, high skill ceiling.

Blight and Billy

Plague (Very high skill ceiling. Needs team management. Plays out differently, depending on what the team is doing. Every game needs a unique approach. Addons are one of the best in the game. Almost all are great) I know many people don't like to play against her, including myself, but Plague's design is still really good nonetheless.
Oni (High skill ceiling, a good Oni can basically win the game in 45 seconds, if the survivors make 1-2 mistakes in those seconds. All add-ons except for passive recharge are great)
Spirit (I was very against the spirit, because she had no interactive counterplay. But with the nerf the directional sound is great and I think all addons are great)
Twins (in terms of counterplay, 1v1 and 1v4 testing. Feels clunky to play though, needs a QoL change for sure)
Pinhead (Again, tests 1v1 and 1v4. Cube hunting has a high skill ceiling. I think some addons need changes)
Huntress feels well-designed.

I wouldn’t call twins balanced in their current form

Twins is so close to being the perfect killer. Like the number of different strats you can do just feels endless. If only they'd make them play feel better. I wouldn't call them balanced right now. There is also the elephant in the room named CoH.... KEKW
