If you are playing as killer and a survivor disconnects, you HAVE to let the last one go.
Or else.
This was kindly explained to me by a survivor in the endgame chat today.
I just figured I'd pass the message along to the rest of you so that you don't have you put yourselves through the trauma that I put myself through today after the full horror what I'd done dawned on me.
I'm shaking. I'm sweating. I even cried a little. And I know I won't get any sleep tonight. How could God allow this to happen? The humanity.
On the plus side, I know that the next time my controller goes screwy or my connection goes out for five minutes and I spend the first half of the game staring into the wall as a result, the survivors are going to give me a free kill. Because things in this game work both ways.
Right?

Donbot knows what's up.

That was the first episode of Futurama I ever saw. I still remember being ten years old, sleeping over at my friends' house and watching Adult Swim all night for the first time.

As you hook that last survivor, fear not, and let memories of Donbot keep you warm.
Glad it dragged up a wholesome memory :3

Just don't say gg after please, thats all I want.

Oh you didnt read the survivor book for killers? Shame ...Shame shame.
1 -
"Reported for farming!" - When i let the other survivors escape after someone disconnected early on.
"Reported for playing toxic!" - When i didn´t let the other survivors escape after someone disconneted early on.
Survivors really need to make up their mind.
15 -
I always say gg no matter what.
3 -
why should the killer be expected to throw the game ? This the fault of the person who dcd.
3 -
being nice is apparently toxic now
6 -
Well of course you didn't read up on the survivors rulebook for killers it seems.

Honestly I just kill everyone as fast as I can. They want a proper game, and so do I. Killing them, putting them out of their misery, is a kindness.
2 -
Getting curb stomped isnt a good game for the losing side and a GG from the winner comes across as condescending.
2 -
Just a few minutes ago, I had a match where someone disconnected less than 60 seconds in. So, I showed the others I was friendly. Another one disconnected later, with two survivors left. They got it down to one gen remaining, and then they stopped working on gens entirely. I finally found them hanging out together in a corner screwing around. So, I killed them both. They had dragged the match out for a stupidly unnecessary amount of time.
I was just trying to do a chase survivors daily + break pallets challenge. I never intended to kill or even hook anyone.
What do you guys want from me?!?!
4 -
I will do whatever I want instead, thanks tho
2 -
So do I, how ever it has different meanings depending on the people I verse
Most of them it simply means 'good game'
For some, it means 'git gud'.

99% of dc are against campers and tunnelers. Do you really think this kind of selfish people would let the last surv escape?
0 -
False, and you know it. Whiner.
5 -
Rofl, BS. But I love how some Survivors try so hard to blame Killers for their own toxic behavior.
99% of DCs against me are when Survivors FELT LIKE I tunneled, even if I did not.
Or they FELT LIKE I camped, even if I was across the gods-damn map. I once had someone DC the exact second I downed them, and they accused me of 'Proxy Facecamping' as Hag. My traps were in obvious chokepoints that anyone with half a brain would crouch-walk through. But it was my fault they were too stupid to learn. And thus I was being 'toxic' because they had the memories of goldfish.
That's not to mention the people who DC when I yeet a hatchet as Huntress at the start of a trial and get a random, blindly-lucky smack.
Or when I harpoon someone as Deathslinger.
Or when Survivors see I'm Doctor.
I've even had people DC when they step in a Trapper trap.
Oh! Or when I down people as Billy or Bubba!
But sure; Blame Killers for the toxic crap Survivors do. Because Killers are big old meanies, and Survivors NEEEEEVER DC unless Killers are toxic first! Survivors are just little angels and it's all Killer's faults! 😂🤣😂
'99% of DCs are against campers and tunnelers'. Rofl. What tripe.

I know this should go without saying, but I'll say it anyway: people ######### around a lot in end game chat. I know I do.
If the killer thinks I'm in SWF when I solo, I'll go with it and talk about how SWF is balanced.
If survivors think I'm trash because I hit them a bunch of times on hook, I'll call them out for being a hacker.
If the game was extremely uneventful, I'll even start it off by saying something I think a killer/survivor main would say because that might be more fun than the match itself.
And just like subtle hacking, you can subtly meme too. It's not just an ingame thing either. Happens on this forum every day.

I play 3 man roulette. Will let them rake blood points then after we've had our fill, i ll start getting them 1 at a time, whoever I get first goes, followed by the second. Third one lives :)
Saying that, I play survivor 70-30 and have been killed plenty of times after a DC. Not all killers play nicely lol.
DC's do spoil the match for both sides, especially if it was a good fair contest.

Never give up never surrender

Oh wait, you aren't supposed to wipe your rear with those pages? I thought that was the book's use.

I love how the term survivor rule book is a universally known term in the dbd community yet survivors swear they don't try to tell killers how to play.
The killer rule book doesn't exist I've seen survivors try and bring it up but it's never stuck I wonder why that is.
5 -
Yeah, that's Survivors hypocrisy. Pretending that something doesn't exist (Survivor rule book) but at the same time complaining or dc'ing about every little inconvenience.
5 -
You couldn't be more wrong if you were arguing that the world was flat.
6 -
I go straight to emersion, "they had a massive heart attack and died from the horror!!!"

Wow. I forgot how young some of the player base is here. Really, some of you just remind me how old I am.
2 -
Did you watch that movie recently or just love it?
0 -
No that was the Sear’s catalog. You burn this one for warmth during the lonely killer’s winter.

My policy:
- An early DC? I'll play it out. If the other team sticks it out, I'll let the last one or two go on their last hook.
- Multiple DCs? I'll end it fast.
- Someone is BM? Nobody gets out.
Let them complain.
1 -
I usually do that unless the survivor have been toxic, the DC happen in late game or the DC happen when being downed before the last hook.
1 -
I'm not gonna let survivors escape even if people DC, what are you? Delusional, it's the killer's job to KILL not show mercy, c'mon 🤦🏻
1 -
You didn't receive the rule book from one of the survivor at the start of the map? I'm disappointed in you.
0 -
I was told all Killers are expected to know the rule book from front of back, but Survivors are in no way responsible for giving out copies.
Also; rules can and will be changed whenever Survivors want, and Killers are expected to keep up with these changes, even if they were changed 5 seconds ago. 😁

Survivors still expect you to 12 hook and keep everyone in the game as long as possible. Them telling you to let the last one go doesn't shock me.
1 -
Was it you? Dwight in an elf costume? Because that's exactly what I said, and it's what started the conversation.
I say "gg" in every game. It's called sportsmanship.
Is farming against the rules? I don't do it all that often, but I see it every now and again, especially when I'm playing survivor.
I usually try (especially if we're losing) to pretend like I'm farming, but sneak away and low-key finish the gens. I'd never report anyone for it, though, since it sometimes means a second chance at a match I wouldn't otherwise have won.
The two in the game I had in the game in question had nothing to do with that.
First disconnect, I was running at him after stabbing a couple of other survivors with Feral Frenzy. Ran out of steam just as I reached him, and he just stood there, staring at me, in front of a nearly full gen that was now regressing due to Ruin. Disappeared. Maybe he just hated the fact that I was running Ruin and that I ######### up his gen, maybe his game crashed (I didn't see him move).
Second one. One of the survivors I had initially hit with Frenzy hadn't bothered to heal and was opening a chest right next to a dull totem (I had Undying). Popped out from behind a corner and hit her. Instant disconnect.
I wasn't doing anything unsavory, even went out of my way alternating attacking/hooking the last two survivors to make it a little bit more chill. Caught a Dwight running to one of the exit gates after I finished off his teammate; he started pointing at the exit gates. Stabbed him. Kept pointing. Downed him. Carried him.
"gg"
"gg? you have no manners", etc. etc.
I usually pretend it was suicide because they didn't want to get sacrificed to the Entity and spend eternity in its hellish dimension.
To be fair, I think Adult Swim was brand new when this happened, or almost so. There were also episodes of Mission Hill, The Oblongs... I can't remember what else. I think I fell asleep during The Oblongs.

It depends. If you farm survivors against their will with the help of other survivors, then yes.
But if they go along with it, then no.
0 -
I see the bot used Deadhard and dodged those shots despite screaming.
1 -
I will usually let the last survivor go if someone DCs early, but not always (particularly if I have a tome/daily for kills/sacrifices). If I am in a rare mood, I might full on farm with the remaining survivors, but usually only if they kinda suck on top of things.
As a survivor, I hope I get let go in those situations, but have zero expectations, and I don't think anyone should EXPECT to be let go. It sucks, but it is the fault of the person who DCed.
And if you think about it, creating this dynamic where it's just expected that in the event of an early DC the killer will mercy/farm, it just makes it easier for DC'ers to rationalize DC'ing.
I think it should just be assumed that if you DC, you are screwing your team.
1 -
It comes off as extremely condescending when someone has dc'd early. It most certainly wasn't a good game.
Trust me it doesn't come off as you being nice. Just seems like you are an ass.
I don't play Dwight, and I don't stay to chat in post game chat. There's no sportsmanship involved in saying "gg" (good game) when the match was doomed almost immediately by a dc. It comes across as extremely condescending and snobbish when you say it in those situations.
0 -
I mean it depends on a lot of factors usually I would try but I'm not going to make it a guarantee.
It's not really my job to do damage control because someone decided to be an arse and disconnect the same way I don't expect another killer too to make nice because I got a disconnection when I'm playing Survivor.
It usually often comes down to three factors
1. Do I feel like it - if I'm just not in the mood to play nice I'm not in the mood to play nice.
2. If the game was already going super well in the survivors favor then I'm not really going to count the disconnection as much ( I've had instances where someone has disconnected with only one gen left and 4 survivors alive let's be honest at that stage you don't really need me to take it easy)
3. If whatever survivor left has been in arse or not.
With the last survivor if you've been a toxic clicky clicky Claudette who's teabagged me at every opportunity yeah I'm not letting you live. If you've just been playing the game normally, doing what you need to do to survive and win then sure if I'm in the mood take the hatch or the exit gate

Meh. Just don't listen to people lol it's as easy as that
