So after some insanely frustrating games as Myers, I decided to let the Demogorgon out for a walk as I'm pretty confident on him these days. First two games - someone DCs instantly, then people give up. Ugh.

Next, get sent to The Game. Oh joy, looks like a full stack SWF. 4 cakes is always an indicator.

Actually end up doing pretty well with my 'sonar' build (Whistle+Lining) and wind up with David DCing on his second hook and everyone else on their last hook at 2 gens left. Some really fun chases, so I decide 'what the hell', I'll give them all the gate as they seem to be playing together, I like everyone to get BP and I've likely already got my ruthless.

Postgame (edited for content, assume it was 1000% worse):

Me: Fun game, well played all.

Tapp: Why you let us go?

Nea: Trash idiot killer.

Me: You were fun and brought me cakes, so you all get gate.

Me: Zuh?

Nea: lol private steam profile of course. scared of being told u suck?

Tapp: lol you think ur better than us?

Nea: babykiller noob get sick and die of cancer

Claudette: I hope u die ugly and slow

Claudette: dogcrap killer moron

Me: Geez, who hurt you?

Tapp: loser get a life

Nea: u aren't even human

Really should have screencapped that one for the collection.

This community, I swear. Some people just want to watch the world burn. And guess who's going to sweat that extra little bit tomorrow...

Sorry you had that experience. Is uncalled for. As survivor in chat I've spike up if see people trash talk killer.

As killer I never play to kill people lol so guess those survivors would have been ticked at me. Oh well, I don't like to kill them just chase & hook a few times, though I've had some dcs and suicide on hooks. Never had anyone bad mouth me in chat though...closest was a survivor who kept coming up to me at gate said that they wanted me to hit them at gate.

I've got plenty of chats to share and some that I did. Even on the Forums, people told me that I obviously deserved it.

My advice? You'll get way more negative interactions than positive. Close chat and private your profile.

Stupid Claudette giving The Bush a bad reputation. Why can't they play as Feng or Nea.

Anyways, it's not surprising. It's one of the reasons why I only play killer for rift challenges. I play games to be entertained, not to entertain others and be their punching bag.

You can't win with most of them either way, play sweaty and you're a toxic tunneler and camper even if you didn't do those things. Play poorly and you're trash. Yea, there are nice survivors who gave words of praise and encouragement, but most of it was trash talk.

There's no winning with people like this

Don't give them the time of day, especially if they go as far as wishing for one of the worst things that can happen to a human being, over a video game.

That's usually my mentality at least.

Damn, I've only had survivors that bad a couple of times.

Sorry you had to go through dealing with those smooth-brains. As others have said already, If I were you, I'd just close the end-game chat and private your profile.

    Xendritch Member Posts: 1,842

This is why barring me doing a daily killer I'm bad with or a whacky rift challenge that purposefully wants me to play suboptima I always go as hard as I can, I just assume survivors are toxic by default and I get proven correct a depressingly high percentage of the time.

Yeah, me too. It's just these are the ones that tend to stay with you.

My Steam profile is already private (I can only imagine how much further they would have gone if it wasn't) but I'm somewhat reluctant to turn off PGC, because I've also had some legitimately fun interactions.

  • AngyKiller

I turned my steam profile to private after a smooth-brain claimed I was camping 'Because Hag always camps' (Note; my traps, like every time I play Hag, are in chokepoints/pallet points. Not next to hooks).

But he insisted I was camping BECAUSE I was playing Hag. IE: If you are Hag; you a camper, just because you are Hag, not because of how you played.

Anyways, smoothie got 20 of his friends to '-rep camper' me.

I spent the morning rolling my eyes, deleting comments, and reporting every one of them to steam moderation for targeted harassment. Then I privated my profile.

If you cared enough you could probably get someone banned for wishing cancer upon someone, as long as you record it and send a ticket in

Also can I ask for a source? Where was this said?

I hope they don't wonder why their game has a worse rep than league, cod, overwatch etc to many many many people. But I mean they don't even really care if people SWAT, DOX, or DDOS others post game. So expecting them to care about attacks on their customers is comical.

  • Brokenbones
    Brokenbones Member Posts: 5,223

    Ah, thanks for the quote.

IMO wishing cancer on someone isn't on the same level as calling someone garbage or useless. Even says in the post that it depends on the 'level of insults' which makes sense, right?

I mean i don't wanna see ppl banned for calling someone a cringelord in the endgame chat but I wouldn't be against ppl going around wishing cancer upon others being banned - if you see what I mean.

  • Suffice it to say that the only part that makes it bannable is the death wish...

I once got called the N-word and other pleasantries by a particularly salty survivor. I think I have a thread about it.

It's a real shame killers get so little positive end-game messages, since the bad piles up and ends up covering the small amount of good. Which is why most people end up turning off the end-game chat and privating their profile. While it'd be nice to say gg to everyone after the match, all of the salt I'd get would probably make me just turn off the end-game chat if it ever came to console.

It's best to report and move on. Caring about what they say only gives them what they want. They aren't worth anyone's time.

They sound like awful, miserable people with egos are too big for this planet. Don't listen to them, though. I know it's hard but what you did was really nice and there are people out there who appreciate when killers show mercy/kindness like that. Whenever I've been spared by a killer I usually give them hearts. 🤣 And, of course, thank them. This situation reminds me of a saying "bad people turn good people into them" . Don't let them do that to you!

Keep in mind that not everyone is like that. But majority is in my experience unfortunately, at least in pvp games.

It is funny how they aknowledge you beat them deep down and feel so offended by it. Even if you let everyone escape.

Anyway I'm sorry you had to experience that.

And this is why they won’t give us console players a chat. Anyways I’m sorry you had to go through that. Those guys are pricks who just want to get to your head. I always try to give killers credit whether I win or they win. I gave this new blight player some props because he beat my team and I was the only one that escaped due to luck. Solo que btw

Don’t let those idiots get to you. I had another match with 3 of my friends and the pyramid head just wanted to meme around. We crouched in front of him forming and he was school. But then a random Claudette tried to blind Him with a flashlight. We helped the killer kill her. I sandbagged her it was satisfying. The pyramid head helped me with my challenge and I gave him a hook in return. Luckily he was PlayStation so I messaged him. Just keep your head up they just wanted to get you angry. They are the type that just want to bully killers unfortunately. I wish people weren’t toxic but there are always gonna be some cobra Kai’s

you know how many people i have reported over the course of all these years but noone of them was banned despite being incredibly mean, wishing me to die horribly, getting covid or being racist toward me? just too many, but for them it's more important removing a cosmetic that can be used for being racist (make no sense to me how a cosmetic that fit in the killer's lore can be racist) than punishing those kind of people who are THE REAL PROBLEM about discrimination and hateful speech. i stopped reporting people since they won't do anything at all, even to cheaters (a friend of mine did 2 reports in less than 1 week 2 months ago... still no answer from them)... their report system is pointless (and this is another reason why i stopped playing since i'm tired to being mocked by cheaters/toxic/racist people left unpunished)

Why do people latch to the entire "private Steam profile" thing? Mad because they can't smear their verbal feces over the user's profile?

They aren't getting punished for it so why shouldn't they be as vile as possible right? Who cares about morals?

Ha ha ha... Yeah, honestly? Who knows. Something in the water, fam. You just need to flex on them next time. "Why did you let us go Mr. Killer?" Hit them with the, "it was more of a challenge keeping you alive than it would have been to kill you, gg ez and thank you for the frosting, baby!" Know what I am saying? It would shatter their world because they are totally the type that would get offended over losing in a video game. They might even get so triggered they threaten to report you to Behavior... Not that I would know anything about that. I am a very wholesome killer who always respects survivor mains.

"Not only did you not play EXACTLY the way that suits me and my expectations, but you have the AUDACITY to deny me more info about you and a direct avenue to further harass you? #########?"

It's really hard not to pile on the "entitled survivor" meme train when you see that sort of thing.

The more I see and hear stuff like this, the more happy I am that I just cut myself off from postgame interaction.

    when they get beaten.

It should not matter. Not unlike in real life, you show mercy and kindness for your own benefit, the quality of the persons you do or their gratefulness (or not) is inconsequential. In fact that you show mercy to a bunch of donkey holes (even if you didn't know) should only increase your satisfaction for it.

    Enjoy the moral high ground.

For me it was an incident early 2020 when I'd basically just started.

Killers had no matchmaking protections, so I got sent up against a TTVer and his 3 mates. I was on Bubba, and I camped the hell out of him (didn't understand that this violated the 'etiquette' of the game), ended up with a mostly accidental 4k and he sent all his followers to take a piss on my Steam wall.

His Twitch got banned, so that's a pyric victory - but since then, my profile is private.

I privated my profile when a hacker tried to add me, I didn’t add him, but never ignored it either. So now I have his steam profile and ID whenever I want it but I couldn’t record the game and so I can’t do anything with it.

Name checks out. Mine was set to private when a group of SWF decided to spam my steam account with nonsense. It's one thing to trash talk and insult in post game chat, I have turned that off awhile ago, but it is completely different to take the time to spam a steam page.

Today is a terrible day. I played 2 games of killer, first, they were just toxic and told me I suck in the endgame chat.

Second game I tunnel out the Adam with an instaheal (purple medkit, too), because they set up a boon. I was doing adept Spirit on Mother's dwelling. No crazy add-ons, nothing. I mori him with Rancor in the end. All 4 of them wrote me around 4 screens of literally "baby killer", "ez", "you lost", didn't forget to include homophobic slurs. For every 5 gg wp, you get a game of this, and you don't want to play killer.

You also are forced to ONLY play for yourself. Never care about the survivors. if YOU want to let the cute Feng go, let her, but never except the person playing her be cute in the endgame chat, too. Very sad, that these people exist. I wish there was a way to ban them for me, so that I never have to play against them. Or at least mark them for myself as someone I should mute from the start.

  • Oiry

It's kinda funny, because when I started playing killer almost a year ago, I was like the friendliest killer ever, playing by the survivor rulebook. But slowly and surely the survivors turned me into what I am now. I sick [BAD WORD], who will only care about himself.

Interestingly enough, the survivors didn't change. It doesn't matter, how nice you play, there will always be someone who's unhappy about how you play. So why should I care?
