Is BHVR kidding me with these hex spawns?
Two spawn right next to a generator and one right in the corner of the killer shack. I lost 75% of my build in like 35 seconds. I thought Coal Tower was supposed to be the most balanced map in the game? LOL. What a joke

No maps are truly balanced unless your playing a top 3 character. Dead Dawg in most cases just makes the match only slightly survivor sided.

The RNG giveth and The RNG taketh away
I've had games where I found 4 totems and not one was Ruin
I've had games where I spawned, took 2 steps, and broke Ruin
It's a main reason I don't like to run really any Hex perks. High Reward but High Risk too...

I have heard they made totem spawns more obvious for the apply of Boons. Which was a direct nerf to Hexes, when you think about it. 🙃
But I don't know how true it is.

It wouldn't surprise me; however, the spawns were always Pig tier. I stopped running Ruin well before Boons because I was tired of the sound notifier going off before I found a survivor.

Low-quality GIF because I didn't want to upload it to YT, but look at the not-so-hidden hex totem somewhere in this map...............

High risk, high reward. Deal with it.
Then they give infinite relights to boons. And people claim there isn't bias. . .

Hexes: High risk, moderate rewards.
Boons: Low risk, high rewards. 🙃

Because image if you could relight Haunted grounds, retribution and ruin? Free exposed downs free slowdown and lots of aura reading. Cmon I get COH is strong but. You can’t say with a straight face that would work it wouldn’t work. Fighting fire with fire won’t fix the issue

Reason numero uno why I always hated running hexes, I like some amount of consistency with my builds and hexes offer none.

They first changed the totem spawns after Undying was released. Just a couple of weeks before nerfing it.
I remember how I discussed with people, since I noticed that the spawns in front of the hills moved up on top of the hills.
From very hidden inside a bucket/pocket to 1-3 meters in front of it in plain sight.

Every time you relight a boon, you get 1500 bloodpoints for it.
Try to relight a totem with pentimento. You get 0 points.
Undying was nerfed because cleansing the same totem 4 times was deemed to much for 4 survivors. Now doing the same thing as killer seems to be totally fine.

They COULD make it so snuffing the totem just gets rid of that bone. That would probably work. I honestly do not care too much, boons are not an issue for me. It would probably stop at least 6.9% of the complaints, however.

I would rather there be 2 options. Snuff Totem and Break totem. Pressing one button will snuff the totem and make it a dull, while breaking it will break it so it can’t be used again(unless you have pentimento)

That’s different though this guy is talking about it so if a hex is cleansed you can just relight it. That would be such bullshit every time. Let’s say I cleanse ruin. I go back to the gen, the killer relights the totem ruin activates. I gotta go cleanse it again and the then he relights. This would drive you ######### nuts. Atleast undying was RNG and that there was a 50/50 to cleanse the right totem but this sounds ######### annoying and that is not good game design. Now yes same could apply to boons but it takes 1 sec to break and it’s not map wide

Killer time is arguably more precious than survivor time. Also, survivors being able to choose where they want their boon and being able to change the position to a new spot makes it more than up, that boons are not map wide.

I see almost no point in running Devour Hope as it seems like they find it every. single. time.

Only use hex perks that are meant to be broken. This chiefly means Retribution + Plaything (maybe pentimento if you wanna stretch the aura reading) only.
I have completely dumped Ruin since Pain Resonance came out, at least if the hook spawns are janky its something I can conceivably play around with skill. You can't really play around terrible hex spawns skillfully without throwing the game most of the time.
Also IMHO Dead Dawg is the most balanced map in the game. Its small, but a few of the hex totem spawns are pretty nasty and you can get lucky sometimes. (Other times its at the wind mill/upstairs and gets broken instantly)

There are 5 totems in every map.
One hex = 20% chance of being out and visible and chances go up every hex you add.
Meat plant, Midwich or Leary would be great to make it more difficult to find totems, but I'm not sure how you feel about those maps.

Missed the point. Hexes are supposed to be high risk, high reward. Yet there is little 'risk' when playing boons. Any boons, that is. The killer can only snuff them, not destroy them. Four players can use them at once, to boot. I'm not saying hexes should be relit, I just want equal risk when boons are in play.
On top of it all, placement is in survivors hands. Hexes usually appear in a dangerous spot, and last for one camera rotation at map start before somebody is on them. Survivors can choose where to place their boons. Again, really no risk to playing them.

Nah, I run Inner Strength and it always seems like I can't find a totem when I need one. I do think they make sure Hex's spawn more on the obvious totems more than they do on the hidden ones.

With how the tile system works, I feel like they should be able to make it so that totems cannot spawn within a certain distance of generators, and man do I really wish they would do that.

I wonder how much more dummy proof they could make this game for survivor lol. Seriously why would you ever run Counterforce, Small Game, run a map, etc. with totem spawns like this? No reason not to just bring DS/BT/UB/DH and a juiced medkit every single match

Yes it takes 1 sec to Snuff but it can take 30-40secs to get to the area where it's at and then find it so another 5 secs. In that time a gen will pop and the Killer will lose any chance at map pressure. Not to mention yes boons are not map wide but most boons are in dead zones with no gens to patrol so going there is almost guaranteed a lost game for the Killer and a safe zone for Survivors.
Let's not get into the range is still too big and multiple story maps......RCPD MAP IM LOOKING AT YOU!

I agree except for the infamous locker blinds and the wagon spot that Devs say isn't abusing a known bug to to gain a advantage over another player......

The placement of hexes that’s another issue the perks are not the problem it’s just the way they spawn is very bad I saw a suggestion that was amazing they said hex’s should spawn away from the survivors and near the killer so they don’t get broken as fast. Boons just needs the option to snuff or break

the only map that is good for a hex build is midwich (assuming your hex isn't on the guaranteed totem spawn - the one with the broken rubble leading upwards). any other maps you're begging to be handicapped. thats why i never run hex perks, not even ruin unless an offering specifically for midwich.
1 -
that's a terrible suggestion man, hex spawns will be too predictable. if that were the case, i wouldn't be able to get 5 stacks of devour hope at Lery's on a game i had a long time ago.
