The Tools of the Trade - Achievement made me a true monster

Hello.

I am a killer main and mostly adhere to the survivors rulebook, trying to play as fair as possible, for as long as possible, to give everyone as fun a trial as possible.

I normally don't start tunneling etc. until the survivors use scummy tactics or gen rush with their brand new parts and Leader/Proof Thyself combos.

But now, this one achievement, the one called Tools of the Trade... It finally made me shed my humanity, leaving all semblance of morality behind and commit fully to The Entities cause.

The last shreds of my old life were burned away by a scalding flashlight storm and trampled into the ground by t-bagging little feet, but since that fateful night I never looked back.

With The Entities whispers in my ear I dealt sloppy strikes to all those little gnats and hunted then one after another till the fleeting life left them. Sometimes I waited at their husk if another one would show up, just to lead chase bleed into chase, sacrifice into sacrifice. And in the end I trampled their hope into the ground, for No One Escapes Death. Not anymore.

I often fail, but its always with the satisfying taste of salt in my mouth. But when I win its even sweater and saltier. Sadly I only ever felt this elation two times. I say to myself "only three more times", but I know that I am deluding myself, that its a lie, that I can't return to my old, more innocent ways of killing.

I don't use the fancy and flashy new toys that the hip killera thought me anymore. I don't need them. The Entity provides everything I need. Everything I will ever need.

My profane Tools of the Trade are bolstered by the Sacrament of the Tunnel and and the Vigil of the Camper. My eyes have been opened, for now I am a true killer. A true monster.

I got my third Merciless rating while using the most crappy builds. I got to play more sweaty, even though some smol remnant of humanity in me is screaming in agony. It hopefully will be all over soon, but will it be worth it, in the end? There are a lot of achievments that under 1.5% of the playerbase got, so why try so hard and thereby let The Entity get a foothold in my soul? But oh, its showing me such beautiful sights, such sweet survivor screams. Caming is relaxing and soothing the mind, isn`t it? Isnt this something that humans do? But why do I still know that its wrong?

Which killer and perks? I only did 1/5 I think when I was super new.

I got one with Doctor, one with Wraith and one with Demogorgon.

I think I used whatever I got at my hand, but it was something like "Whispers", "Sloppy Butcher" and "NOED". You really need to know your game, as your perks most definitely won't carry you, only giving you a small edge.

My biggest surprise was the merciless victory with the Demogorgon, I barely got 3 general perks with him and used a yellow NOED, yellow Relentless and green Sloppy Butcher. I am not sure if you can use Demogorgons own perks. In the Demogorgons description you can't see his teachables, but instead have some text stating that his perks have moved into the general usage pool. But when you look at the individual perks description (Jolt, for example) it still reads "Rare Demogorgon perk". Using his perks would help a lot with this challenge, but I am too sissy to try them out, sweat to get a merciless victory and then not getting the achievment ^^

But you know what? I will try it out tomorrow and equip Fearmonger, Jolt and Whisper and see if this will satisfy the Tools of the Trade requirements.

Thanks a lot for confirming this! This should help a lot since Jolt and Fearmonger are pretty decent perks. Spies! How could I forget about that one. Spies in the Shadows is actually one of the severely underrated perks that I just love to switch in every now and then. Yes, it got some issues, but every time I got it equipped I get so much value out of it. No one plays calm spirit and so often I hear this perk fire off in my back when a survivor, that was really sneaky, moves away.

Oof, I finally got this achievment done. And it truly felt aweful, totally stomping all this people, but eh, someone has to do it, right?

I can confirm myself that the ex-Demogorgon perks work for the achievment, and Fearmonger and Jolt helped me a lot. I used mostly Demogorgon. First, his double Iri-add-ons are super strong and feel quite like cheating. Second, even without the Iri-add-ons, Demopupper is still a good boi and trapping every gen with a portal helps a lot with ferreting out the last survivors, once the game turns into a 2v1 on three gens, or something like that, as you can't fall back on Tinkerer, as you might normally do.

All in all this achievment wasn't AS much a pain in the butt as I had feared, but it kept be occupied a few days. I am quite happy that I now got all my "Adept X" and related achievments done and can now fully commit to play as I like :)

Small nitpick but Leader does not affect gen speed

I know your pain! On one game on Haddonfield the last Mikaela wouldn't try to save her Bill friend, so he picked himself up from the ground, while she hid. Two times! The first one was expected, the second one was that Exponential boon perk. Once both were out of the equation I slugged him and proxy camped, while keeping tap on the 3 gen. I finally got a whiff of her (she had eluded me all game), downed and hooked her, but by the time I returned to poor Bill, who had spend literally half the game slugged, I heared him crying somewhere close, but couldn't find him and he bleed out, leaving me with just a "Ruthless Killer" rating.
