Why don’t we can block people to play against?

I remember reading an article about how Overwatch implemented this exact system and then removed it because good players were suffering as a result.

For an example of how this pans out look at Overwatch. It launched with the ability to block opposing players and it ended up with certain high level players having near eternal queue times.

Everything is legit in DBD now days. They give a ######### about hackers. There's no day without some hackers in my matches. I faced so many obviously hackers than never. Survivors and killers. It doesn't matter. And they are very happy hacking in your face because devs don't care. So there's nothing not legit in this game.

Because a lot of people would ban you just because they lost against you even playing by their rules. And you will be punished waiting too much for matches.

The best you can do is block console or other platforms they will never allow you to block players even if they are cheaters you can at least hit that report button for them at least. Here is an honest question tho if your a survivor and you hate playing against a certain killer why not work on strategies to make it easier. I for one absolutely hate playing against very good Pinheads because they can absolutely dominate when they are played perfectly without any setup and the chains just keep coming I know without a shadow of a doubt id block this killer even tho they are not top tier its more about how frustrating to me it is. Most killers can be managed by properly spreading the team out so that your not drawing attention to other teammates if your being chased but thats not always going to be the case. Though the one thing i wish we had was a way to report a hacker while in a game instead of after the match was over so if by chance your not recording someone from the dev team can investigate and go about banning the player especially if they are holding the game hostage.

Play killer. No waiting time.

No way it's sooooo open to abuse

- Can I block killers I don't want to play with?
- Now way, that option would be abused and matchmaking would be destroyed!!!
- Can I block survivors I don't want to play with?
- Sure, why not? Here, you can see them in the lobby, access their profiles, and you can mark them howerver you like (like blocking in steam), so you can dodge the lobby if you see one of them later! Happy dodging!
BHVR logic at its finest.

Nah, hacking is not a legit strategy. Your hyperbole doesn't change what's outlined in the TOS.

This happened to a nurse main on twitch when MLGA worked as a block list.

I vaguely remember something like this? The best Killer players basically had 30+ minute queue times because salty Survivors would block them after losing?
3 -
Yep. I suspect it is part of the reason they went with dedicated servers because it put an end to it along with asking the creator to remove the feature.

That's the thing most Killers are not averaging the 2K when they play fair. As Killer I play fair and only get roughly 0K-1K when I do. What your suggesting would make Que times for you and anyone else longer because of the dwindling player base of Killers. Also mandy is right in thier statement.

Fun fact. There's a really easy tip for people that dislike how other people play even though what they're doing is completely supported by the devs. Get over it, or don't queue up. Or quit the game. Don't queue up if your skin is so thin you can't handle people playing a game through methods devs literally intend to be used. Quit ruining it for your teammates and other players.

I think what you mean is that you would rather wait five minutes to play against a Killer that goes out of his way to make the game easier for Survivors. Those games are not fair, why should the Killer go out of his way to let bad Survivor's escape, Survivors should escape because they took risks, made plays and contributed to the team.
If you want games like that play custom.
2 -
And by 'fair Killer' you mean one that follows the fake Survivor Rulebook of no camping/tunneling/slugging, and no using perks or Killers not approved by Survivors beforehand, huh? 🙃
1 -
Depends what type of camping you're talking about. Face-Camping, sure but proxy is definitely smart
2 -
As killer in Steam you can do this to an extent.
I usually block toxic survivors, when I check a profile and I see someone blocked I dodge. It's a form of black listing.

Would be nice to have a system that doesn't match with players i block, at least to get rid of cheaters
2 -
You dont think a block system can be exploited?
0 -
Because you could just curate yourself easy players? Oops, killer actually beat me? BLOCKED! Hehe! Survivor ran me around? BLOCKED!
People would use that to just block anyone who beats them until they have extremely easy queues.
3 -
If it means I'd have longer queues, I would gladly take it in expense of not having to face these 3% of playerbase consisting of edgelord -rep farmer trolls who just throw games in order to be as provokative and annoying as they can. Unfortunately they're often backed up by these forum circlejerks though.

Well no, it’s not because you can’t not play against them
1 -
I don’t mean to play Devils Advocate, but killers even now are doing this.
They would rather dodge a team because they think it’s a SWF group, or because they see specific items in their hands rather than play the match. Causing the system to bork and putting someone of lesser skill in instead.
I know it can easily be abused if survivors had that option but the other side is getting away with it on the daily.
1 -
but I would bet you have less killers dodging teams then you have survs dodging killers they hate. you could basicly delete half of all killers cause they would never get a game
1 -
I am not talking about dodging specific killers, I am talking about players.
The system should not give either side the advantage to dodge each other. Currently it does for killers because they can see player names, AND also dodge based off of items that get brought in.

This discussion is the exact reason why the devs blacklisted MLGA for PC players before the dedicated servers were established:
"MLGA is a mod that shows you the pings of people in your game lobby. The idea is that if the ping is too high you have the chance to dodge that lobby in order to not get stuck in a laggy/ unfair game. It also has a feature that allows you to add players to a list and tag them as either "blocked" or "loved", so you can avoid certain people who play in a way you don't like."
MLGA was being heavily abused by players blocking others and essentially rigging the game so that they would only play against players of lower skill than themselves. BHVR recognized how abusive the ability to block players was being, and rightfully Blacklisted MLGA in Easy Anti Cheat so that no one would be getting blocked anymore. This was back when DbD was still peer to peer connection, and MLGA only worked for that kind of game. However, despite its Blacklisted status in EAC, some players still figured out work arounds and were able to continue abusing it, and BHVR were forced to start banning players caught using MLGA, all the way up until the Dedicated servers were set up, which made finally MLGA useless.
The worst part about it was the effect it was starting to have on the Fog Whisperers/Main Streamers for the game, as they found themselves frequently trolled by being added to many players Blocked lists, forcing them to wait longer and longer just to get into a match with anyone, and costing them what essentially was/is their lively hood. It is because of this and the many other ways MLGA's block feature, including only favoriting or "loving" inferior players so they could relentlessly bully them, that BHVR heard the outcry from the player base at the time and made the right call regarding MLGA.
The bottom line: MLGA was a tool that allowed DbD players to do exactly what this post is talking about, and it was such a problem for the PC community that BHVR took measures to Blacklist it, and even outright banned players for using it.
OP, what you're asking for is essentially the same thing as MLGA, but integrated into the core of the game, by the developers who already Blacklisted that program because of the damage it was causing to the DbD community, and you actually want them to consider this suggestion? ... Good Luck.
