So I ran Engineer's Fang for the first time ever...
And I will never run it again, same thing I felt after running Alc Ring for the first time. My oh my was that game so unfun because of how easy it felt. This add on makes no sense whatsoever. I think I must go and play perkless Clown to make up from that.

And there are people out there that exclusively run that add-on because "it's the only way to make Cenobite viable."
But yeah, that add-on and Alc Ring Blight are two of the most dead brain add-ons out there if you have the slightest clue of what you're doing.

I actually think it's really bad.
It just turns him into Legion with a 4v1 distraction.
It removes his ability to anti-loop with his Chains (which was already questionable) but gives him the ability to injure easily.

Welp I just played through my perkless Clown match and got 8 hook states and 1 kill. Honestly better than I would've thought but I need to play that game after what I witnessed with Pinhead's OP iri.

I think the Iridescent Lamentation Box add on is better, personally. Mixed with Torture Pillar for less time to start the chain hunt and it's constant trouble for the survivors.

Nah, that's just the low Cenobite MMR that you start with. Play (and win with) him a few times, and then it won't be that easy to hit survivors anymore.
The Engineers fang is very strong, because you can damage healthy survivors basically everywhere, on different floors, behind loops etc, but your manhandling potential is pretty much neutered.
And Pinheads power is problematic at the best of times. I had a match were I pretty much hit all my shots, but still gained nearly no ground, because you need to stand still in order to cast you chain.
So to call this add on "brain dead if you have the slightest clue about what you are doing" is a bit of a hyperbole.

Did you try Blood Favor with it? It is pretty fun to feel that level of unstoppable.

I think it's pretty fair since they changed it. Yes it makes the first chain injure, but after that your power is worse than useless and slows you down more to use than it does the survivor. So while it feels nice to get easy injures, it roughly evens out by making the second hit harder to get.

But that's exactly the point. His antiloop is QUESTIONABLE with or without Fang. The add-on doesn't really take away much from his base ability.
Possessed chains are just too much RNJesus and you can hardly feel the difference between 3 and 2 in most cases. If you want them really antiloop, you need to run Impaling Wire, which is oppressive in its own regard.
The problematic part of Fang is that it allows to pressure two places at the same time, while survivors have to take care of the box on top of it.
Pinhead is just poorly calibrated, where he either can't do anything, or he can run stuff that is oppressive as #########, but there's rarely an in between.

Fang is stronk, especially when you pair it with another strong addon.
What is scary is that, even with Fang, he can't really hold a candle to the big three.

It’s sad that the prevailing viewpoint in this community is that if something is strong or powerful, it must be nerfed, even if it is not too powerful aka overpowered.
Does the addon actually make him overpowered? I see decent pinheads running it and getting destroyed plenty often. Id be interested to see some numbers.
So, if it’s not OP but is simply strong, why does it need a nerf? Is it supposed to be weak like his default power?

But why is that problematic if it doesn’t make him too powerful? He can pressure two places at the same time, aka he can injure someone with the fang and then chase someone, while another does the box, but if he still loses regardless…what’s the issue? I’d understand if it actually made him too strong but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Yeah it's braindead. I already hate Legion because his power requires little to zero brain power, and Fang Pinhead is just a worse version of that.

I think it’s still his best add-on overall. No other add-ons have an effect as powerful as easy injures at range and even through walls.
Now whether he’s good overall as a killer I have no idea.

Oh come on 😂 I have a challenge. Make a clip that shows you consistently hitting people with pinhead’s power. Just to demonstrate how braindead it is.

I don't need to prove anything to someone I don't even know on the internet, so I don't care about your challenge. Idk if you're on console or anything, but it's piss easy to hit his power with M&K. Especially considering you can injure people through walls with the Fang.
It's a multiplayer game, it's expected that you need to put some kind of effort to have good results at it. If you want to play like that you can enjoy single players.

Engineer's Fang is strong, because it actually makes his skill rewarding. The thing is, it's not too strong--it's just that the entire rest of his kit is too weak without it. Fang + Original Pain makes it kind of a ranged skillshot Legion, it's actually pretty nice.
I suppose you could think it's too strong if you compare to his basekit, but it's more that the basekit is potato.
Sometimes, sometimes we just want to play without having to overthink it. I don't think that's a difficult idea.

My point is that you’re taking nonsense. Pinhead’s power is one of the hardest to use in the game, even on PC. It’s a nurse blink but you also have to land a slow projectile for it to do anything, and if you mess up even a little you can lose a ton of distance, or sometimes the chase altogether.
Guess what happens if you hit them successfully? Unless you’re @ a window or unsafe pallet, almost nothing. You land a Nurse blink, then in quick succession you land a slow projectile, all while the survivor can juke + LoS with plenty of time to react, and then the chains just break and they run away.
But of course we need to nerf the one addon that actually makes his power threatening. But...that’s because it’s overpowered, right? Nah. Just the usual. Survivors don’t find it “fun.”

as a pinhead main since he was released, i absolutely agree. engineers fang is so busted that it literally doesn’t feel good for both the killer (because of how easy it is) and the survivor (because it’s a cheap hit since you get injured 5 meters or more away from pinhead) and which i want a rework for engineers fang. i want his garbage addons buffed, iridescent lament configuration nerf reverted and (basically pixelbush’s change) a buff to the lament configuration solve time where it’s basically this

Yes, but you do have a lot of general killer knowledge. That is already a huge deal.
I could be wrong, obviously. I have never seen Pinhead in-game and I even thought this effect was always on his kit.
But I don't think such add-on could, by itself, make the game that easier.

I guess it was mostly because it improves Pinhead so much that you get hits with a power you aren’t supposed to get hits with. It’s made to slow down survivors and give survivors a chance to combat the chains so that’s part of the reason I don’t like the add on.

Speak for yourself. I always think it makes landing hits actually satisfying. Especially tricky ones.
Survivors can't see the box aura until the chain hunt starts if they're beyond 24m (was 16m).
But they can see it once the hunt starts and I think it can actually spawn within 24m of a Survivor (but more than 8m). Remember, because of how radii work, a 50% increase is actually more than doubling the visible area.

Against Bad survivors anything seems overpowered. You can kill them all with Trapper without using your traps....dead ass serious.
I guess it's a good thing we balance for baby survivors they will nerf again.

While the chainhunt event is charging up the box isn't revealed to the survivors unless they are around the right part of the map, ie 24m. Thats still a big radius, but some player has to go into the general direction. If everyone is doing gens or looping around the same general vicinity, no one will find the cube till the chainhunt starts.

It really seems like people like to use the argument that a certain killer needs almost 0 skill or brain power when they don't like going against them.
To be fair, Legion's power really isn't hard to pull off though. But I don't see how Pinhead's Engineer's Fang is worse than that? Because with Pinhead you actually have to hit your chains, which isn't that easy to do.
