Just for fun, what Batman villain do you think would be the most fun killer in DbD?

    Scarecrow

I put down Scarecrow, I think he fits the theme well and the idea of a killer using fear toxin on the survivors that makes them hallucinate and act sporadically sounds pretty neat. 🙂

Even though I didn't include him on the poll since he's less well known and mechanically probably not that interesting, in terms of fitting in with the Entity's designs Zsasz might be the best. His M.O. goes right in with a driven serial killer.

    Scarecrow

Scarecrow has the most potential in terms of unique gameplay. His fear toxin can make the trial warped and create new obstacles and abilities. He could become a multi-tooled killer like Freddy, and could add a new horror element to the game.

Scarecrow with a fear toxin that causes similar hallucinations to Doctor's Madness except that the illusory killer changes depending on which survivor you are playing.

That would be quite a sight.

The real question is; would we get Batman as a survivor?

Ooh yeah, that's a villain I forgot in the pool - The Bat Who Laughs!

Definitely Scarecrow. Others have some potential, but he's the easiest fit.

    Scarecrow

Yeah, I just did a match in the cornfields and now I'm thinking how cool he'd be if images of evil scarecrows appeared in that map when survivors were hallucinating.

    Scarecrow

Oh man, that'd be really cool. I'm imagining some kind of combination of Doctor and Clown, with the hallucinations and the distorted screen type thing- it'd be conceptually very interesting if nothing else.

  • Joker

Joker would be the best. Even though Scarecrow is a more overtly horror-themed villain, Joker is easily the more terrifying of the two if you've read any of the comics. The Dark Knight is the only movie that's done the character justice in this regard (as much as I loved Joaquin Phoenix's movie, it was a very different take on the character). Graphic novels like The Man Who Laughs or The Killing Joke and animated films like Mask of the Phantasm and Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker give a better overall feel for the darker aspects of the character than most of the adaptations more familiar to a mainstream audience.

Of course, Hamill would need to voice him.

I wouldn't say no to Scarecrow, either, but my second choice for a Batman killer (maybe even my first) is The Batman Who Laughs. I don't keep up with the comics these days, but I do know that he's one of the better characters to grace the franchise lately, and I can't wait to see him in a video game or a movie adaptation.

I think Batman as a survivor would be a little bit hokey since he wouldn't be able to do anything but run, but I could see Bruce Wayne, Lucius Fox, or Alfred.

    Bane would also be good.

Scarecrow fits DBD the most out of any of them

    Scarecrow

There's no doubt Joker is the more insidiously dangerous of the two, and the more evil! The main difficulty I have with Joker here though is his specialty is unpredictability in his plans, it's harder to picture him just chasing people around trying to hit them with an oversized hammer or shocking grasp or spear gun that says BANG on it, etc. On the flip side, though, if he had a bunch of fun voice lines I'd be all in. 😄

And yeah, I unfortunately didn't think of Batman Who Laughs until after I typed up the poll or I'd have probably included him. That guy I could definitely see as a contender for the Entity! An evil driven serial killer who has a compulsive need to win at all costs? Yeah, for sure!

  • Joker

I mean, there are plenty of mechanics that they could use to make Joker work, but The Batman Who Laughs would feel right at home in DBD. He looks and feels like a horror movie villain (even moreso than Scarecrow), and he's the only character in the series who can give Joker a run for his money in the terror department.

I'm actually playing through Arkham Asylum for the first time right now, and the Scarecrow nightmare levels are genuinely creepy at times (the scene in the morgue, for example), but Joker still manages to be scarier. Most of Joker's horror comes from his personality, though... That dialogue over the intercom after one of Joker's henchmen criticizes him was arguably bigger nightmare fuel than all of Scarecrow's scenes combined, but you probably wouldn't get a whole lot of dialogue like that into a DBD adaptation.

I guess a lot of people are arguing that Scarecrow would be more theatrical, but The Batman Who Laughs is at least his equal in that. And the visor and batarang chain thing could make for some interesting gameplay mechanics.

On the other hand, I'm still partial to Joker, because trying to pick out the most terrifying Batman character and not having your finger land squarely on the Clown Prince of Crime just feels wrong. And I can already hear Hamill's cackling laughter as he picks up a survivor across the map...

Riddler - He would spawn additional 243 totems on the map and you would need to cleanse them all to leave the game.

    Scarecrow

Riddler would be the only killer whose terror radius "music" is just him talking incessantly about how much smarter he is than the survivors. 😄

Zsasz definitely, but I think Professor Pyg would actually fit even better since he's a lot like Zsasz- but a full blown deranged sociopath who tortures his victims and mutilates their bodies.

I was actually tore between scarecrow and croc. I'm really sad no one has voted croc though, cause we could really use an aquatic killer with some sort of dive mechanic. Maybe even get brave and add water on a new map OoooooOooo. I joke I know water is kinda hard to program in games. Anywho yea Scarecrow is almost too perfect and to croc I tip my gumbo pot.

Joker for sure. Scarecrow is literally just Freddy or Clown however you look at it.

    Scarecrow

I feel like Scarecrow has probably the best potential when it comes to both design and power wise. Power wise, it would of course have to revolve around his toxins causing sever hallucinations. Maybe possibly seeing other killers in the distance, a gen disappearing or a gen popping up in a really random spot you wouldn't expect and it turns out to be fake and spiders or something start crawling out of it, stuff of that nature. Design wise, well, we've seen many interpretations of what he's looked like in the past. My fav being the design from Injustice 2 so, having something of that nature would be awesome to see in DBD.

It's a scary game - use the scary guy, right?

Lots of interesting mechanics can be used with the fear gas idea.

    Clayface

Clayface's power could be to rush forward with a sludge wave to keep pressure up and if he hits a survivors they are temporarily immobilized. Survivors could tell he is doing this by a bubbly gurgling sound while active and a different one once it ends. Survivors only hear it within a certain distance. His mori is to brutally bash the survivor's head with his mallet morphed hands before bowing with a flourish. (He is an actor and quite proud of it after all.)
