Too many "subdole" Speedhackers
Title. Every 3 matches on 5 i met someone that go faster than usual... Just to make an example I did a match as billy and this Nea was running enough fast to always reach a pallet or a window... At a certain point I tried to chase her on purpose to see how much far she went... I couldn't catch her despite I had bamboozle and when i got bloodlust lv3... Useless to say that his steam profile was lv0 and private... BHVR should gave priority to fix the cheater problem before applying any decisions about balance...

The amount of killers using these "subtle" speedhacks for extra 2-3 % move speed (like running with Bloodlust 3 without actual Bloodlust) and wallhacks (they always know where you are without aura-reading perks) is enormous, at least on EU servers. It's funny that you can't even properly report those, because you can't prove it was an actual wallhack and not just their "intuition", even if you record it.

I wonder if they could implement a good anticheat that will verify the data of all the people in the match then compared those informations with the ones that they have... If something is out of place then the game won't even start... (if I'm not mistaken company of heroes had something similar)

If you catch a player speed hacking, record a video and report.
1 -
I already did it in the past and guess what happened... Nothing (I'm still waiting their response for the last report about a cheater 3 months ago)
3 -
Your supposed to end sentences with 1 period, not 3.
3 -
I had one this weekend. Four days for their Steam ban.
Make sure to read the instructions when reporting. I think BHVR ties the reports to an ID in the game. Not your Steam ID. Then sees who you reported in the game.
1 -
They tend to not tell you if they deal with the cheater, from what I hear.
Shhhhhhhh!
Don't tell them, it was cute...

I don't see why the game itself can't track the speed players are moving at (which is data that already exists), cross-reference their perks/status effects if it exceeds the maximum expected speed, and toss up a red flag if something doesn't line up for a protracted period of time. Or one-time inspect whether a perk effect in play is actually coming from any player's perk (ie, 100% Up The Ante and Vigil when nobody in the match has either of these perks, or Blood Pact's speed boost when nobody has Blood Pact.)
4 -
A couple things about this:
- Sometimes it is so subtle it is barely noticable until you pay attention to it and by that point the match is basically over.
- Recording a video takes time. Most of us don't have video recording software open all the time.
- BHVR needs to make it easier to report to them.
9 -
Those aren't 3 periods...those are a single ellipses...which convey a speech mannerism...
11 -
i gave them all the informations needed, from my id to the id's cheater, i don't think that's about lack of informations sadly...

hmmm, probably because there are possible bugs that affect the speed of the killer/survivor (for instance, a friend of mine had his deathslinger moving A LOT MORE faster after a shot in the swamp and i saw a streamer, before the trapper got changed, always in the swamp being immobilized by one of his traps, he tried to free himself with a lunge. he "escaped" from that bug, but his MS for some reason was fast like a cloacked wraith for the rest of trial)

also this

I see hackers going into streams and promoting their "bussiness".
We are the point when it is becoming a normal thing because they aren't taking it seriously enough imo. They are doing something sure but that is not enough at all.
I feel sorry for streamers especially, not just us who don't stream. Because some of them have hacks to snipe them day and night and they keep harrassing them.

the fact that devs gave dbd free on epic store did only this situation more grim (and this is why i disabled the crossplay... i've already enough of the cheaters present on steam, didn't need more of them)
5 -
There are only a few killers with add-ons that can prove a survivor has wallhacks. Like clown with the yellow gas aura add-on and Myers with the scratched mirror. It's very difficult to prove wallhacks for killer.
At least survivor has OoO that can be used as proof.

...YOU DID IT TOO OH NOES...

certain perks can help too (bbq and i'm all ears for example)

If I had a dollar each for time I've been accused of cheating when the survivors simply played like thousands others before them ...
One of the funniest was one that stupidly went to the opposite corner of the map in a "auto heaven". I had spotted his tracks while chasing my third victim. After hooking his mate, I walked to the opposite corner, never sawing a trace of him, looked around, opened a locker and presto : salt machine enabled.
Although, opening a locker as Huntress to reload and finding a Dwight is always nice (but that's such a bad move from these players it doesn't count).
It shouldn't be difficult for BHVR to keep track of the speed of both killers and survivors, among other safeguards.
2 -
Knowing that these cheats exist makes me paranoid... Are they actually faster or are they just looping really well and am I imagining it?

Yes, it shouldn't be difficult for them, but apparently it is, since these safeguards are not there. Even if the cheater is literally flying in the sky and moving with the speed of light - he doesn't even get autokicked from the game, as he would even in Minecraft
1 -
Right?
Like, there are times I feel stupid for thinking someone is speed hacking but when you chase them from on side of the map to the other, when they drop no pallets or loop, and you gain little distance on them as a 115% killer something is off.
3 -
I should have said "for a junior dev".
I've got different expectations for these ones.
0 -
essentially this is what happened to me aganist that nea... since i wasn't in winning i kept chasing her to see how much far she went... as i said she kept distance even when i reached bloodlust tier 3 with bamboozle... at this point it was clear that she was hacking
1 -
I always assume it is just my imagination...at first. But I have definitely run into a few of these subtle speed hack types, and with increasing frequency.
Trouble is it's not obvious enough to really stand out in a video report, and I am not confident the devs are going to scrutinize it as much as it might require.
But the funny thing is that more often then not I end up killing them. Probably because they suck, which is why they are cheating to begin with.

Cheaters have no confidence in their skills and don't believe they can improve. They cheat because it's the only way for them to be in a game with their betters.
I wonder if the surge has anything to do with the "everybody gets a prize" mentality.
It must be a shock to finally realize the world doesn't work that way.
How pissed they must be if the ever understand their growth has been sabotaged by people not caring enough or too delusional to push the children in their care to be the best they can be.

I played dbd for 3 years ( start at 2019 ) I and I just found my first hacker yesterday.
he crashed my game.
I hate cheaters
0 -
So you were ddossed... Last time that this happened to me was 1 month ago when I was playing with Leatherface... I did a wonderful match in a ######### map, caught the last survivor while she was opening the gate, once I was doing the hook animation, my INTERNET crashed (dbd and discord too)

Yea I’m running into more and more of these killers already in Tier 3 Bloodlust at the start of a chase. You can’t even loop ONCE. I’m like how are they that fast at the beginning of the game?? No speed add-ons on perks post game. I’m going to start blocking all of them now. These are the most dangerous cheaters.
0 -
I don't think blocking them makes a difference. You can still be matched with them.
1 -
I knew someone was going to say this…are you suggesting the block option doesn’t work or because they’re a “hacker?” Cause if it’s the latter, I seriously doubt subtle cheaters care about console players blocking them. It’s the griefers who show their flamboyant hacks in the game, that are prone to removing the block.
Now if you’re referring to the former, I personally have never got rematches with any one I have blocked. I only block ragequitters and the aforementioned flamboyant hackers, and not even those guys I’ve seen again.
0 -
I'm not 100% certain and I actually really hope you're correct. I play on console, and if a player's profile is set to "friends only" we aren't even offered the option to block them. I have a suspicion that blocking only prevents them from communicating with you and seeing your profile.
Again, I hope I'm wrong.
0 -
sadly this is the only thing that will happen. you can block them, but this won't change nothing, you can avoid them manually by dodging the lobby if you see them again (you have to check their profiles manually, if you see someone that you already blocked then you know what to do)
1 -
If you find a cheater ignore them. But in return dont burn the rest of their team . Just play around and give chase. Its not their fault they got paired with a loser. Maybe hook one, kill time, explore the map. Let it go. Dont ruin regular players game because of some loser cheater.
0 -
I really wish we’d be able to see who is in a party together in lobby. Not even just to know whether people are in cahoots with the cheater. I just want to know if I’m having a chill game or not
0 -
Remember names of evil players. Even if you have to write them on paper. Ive avoided bullies that way on a few occaisions.
0 -
Just dont take it out on other players. Just coz they are in same lobby doesnt make them friends ok.
0 -
Just FYI they won’t tell you if they ban someone you reported.
0 -
Well, unless the conveyed mannerism you’re looking for is “being out of breath”, it’s not particularly effective, at least in my opinion. 🤷♂️
0 -
tbh the regular players that are in their team will usually dc if they saw something "souspitious" cause they won't to be associated with those kind of people
0 -
Faster unhook faster movement speed(2-10% if they are trolling with you),wall hacks. I remember one guy had speed burst every time without a colldown. I remember another game i was tier 3 myers and could catch even with bloodlust a nea. At high ranks they are 50% hacking but they are keeping it on the low so it isn’t obvious(the most common is unhook speed, healing speed, and when tou cant see them (ex in a shack they use speed hacks to gain distance to a pallet or window)

Honestly it seems like every game I play as killer feels like there is at least 1 speed hacker in it.

i would just like to clarify one thing:
you absolutely do not need aura reading Perks as a Killer to be able to pinpoint Survivor locations.
I was actually quite used to only be running Discordance as a tracking Perk, but due to experience, predictions, gamesense and audio clues was pretty consistently able to pinpoint the location of most Survivors, even if they were far away from me (general area if far away ofc. i coudnt just tell exactly where they were, but i knew which gens were being worked on and could predict where they would go to if i approached them from a certain angle)
And yes, i have been accused of cheats (especially wallhacks) quite a bit because of it.
an example (from an actual game i played some time ago): i, as the Killer, walked into the Badham Preschool main building through the front door. By the time i got to the corner that leads into the hallway, a Survivor who was working on the generator (not the boiler room one, the one next to the right (looking from the main entrance) staircase) downstairs decided to hide from me in the locker. I could hear the locker doors creak from my position upstairs (they did not jump in quickly) and first checked on the lockers in the classroom upstairs (heard no breathing - i didnt open them) before going downstairs, beelining the locker and instantly pulling them out. i later got accused of cheating- you guessed it, wallhacks.
now i am not trying to say it was impossible that you encountered wallhacking Killers before or anything like that, but i would like to point out that this game offers a lot of very subtle hints Killers can use to locate Survivors that dont seem apparent to a lot of Survivor players right away, which can quickly lead to false cheat accusations.
for example: footstep sounds, breathing sounds, little audio cues triggered by actions (e.g. locker doors creaking when entering / exiting a locker), grass movement (visually - grass doesnt move unless someone is interacting with it, so if i see some grass shaking gently to the left or right around a corner, i know someone is sitting there - yes, grass moves even if the Survivor stays perfectly still), crow behavior, etc.
its due to this, that the Devs will not, and should not, ban people based simply on your personal PoV as the Survivor.
in order to catch people who are actually wallhacking, the Devs need to improve their anti cheat system to detect such thrid party programms running and then ban people based on that.
1 -
Or it could be because SBMM is utterly broken. When people are new at the game, they get dominated with barely any chance, so they decide to cheat.

just yesterday i had another one of those toxic brats... selfhook on a invisibe hook when i was hitting him and speed hacks of course... funny cause he justify his hacks cause i was camping the hook (you know, if you are taunting with flashlight all the time instead of doing generators, the other guy was running around like an headless chicken, trying to do a save, it means that only a survivor was doing gens...) quite frankly i'm tired of all this situation regarding hackers. even with proofs bhvr won't do nothing to them (and yes, i'm sure of what i said: i was still awaiting a reponse from them regarding a ticket that i sent more than 3 months ago... useless to say that the guy who cheated is still playing the game like nothing happened)
0 -
Forget the reporting... at that point the cheating has already happened and this is a mechanic that's always going to be playing catch-up. You report, they investigate, maybe ban, the cheaters open a new account and repeat ad infinitum. Nothing changes except minor inconvenience to all parties, two of which (the cheated player and BHVR) don't need the hassle.
BHVR need to implement better cheating detection on their servers to ban the current and wanna-be cheaters as soon as cheating is detected. Even monitoring for simple stuff like survivors moving/healing at impossible speeds, etc, would cut down on a huge number of instances.
0 -
Nobody sane would do that. You man up or you do something else.
Cheating is for the worms at the bottom of the pit.
0 -
exactly. people who cheat are scum that must be purged (metaphorically speaking). once a cheater, always a cheater (btw yesterday i did other 2 matches aganist speedhackers... funny that despite they were affected by my afterpiece tonic they were faster than me until they reach a window or pallet)
0 -
Yeah,I cant stand subtle cheaters, they are the worst, most of my games as killer, there is at least 1 survivor that always gets distance on me in a chance when it should be the other way around.
Also i'll bother to report cheaters with video, ticket when they will start taking cheating more seriously and listen to the community more.
I did that in the past and the guy I reported still wasn't banned despite it being an obvious cheater.
