Boil Over isn't a Problem, Maps Are.
Honestly don't know why this is some horrible or new revelation, but maps that have always been problematic are surprisingly still problematic. From all my games so far, Boil Over feels no different lmao there are either times where is does nothing, or times where I got greedy with a hook I wanted and risked falling.
Surprisingly, all the complaints about RPD and Boil Over must be the same people that never played RPD and always DC'd instantly. RPD has ALWAYS had abusable spots and hooks you couldn't reach, the biggest one being the library. I don't know if people didn't know about it or if people never knew that was a spot, but Boil Over doesn't change that besides letting more people know about it. This is like the boon problem all over again where people actively ignore the real problem and start complaining about the wrong stuff.
If Boil Over was removed, does that fix RPD and the library? Does that fix other horrible hook spawns? Or does it just get rid of something new bringing your attention to the problem while not actively fixing the problem?
Killswitch RPD, and adda hook or even two hooks in the library. Super simple solution. If you have any other bad or abusable maps right now that have needed help for a while, drop them below

Yeah maps are the catalyst for most of DBD’s issues

I agree, Boil Over is really just emphasizing certain tiles on certain maps that are already slightly problematic. The best long term solution is therefore to add an extra hook in these specific tiles.
Now that being said it’s possible that Boil Over might be too sensitive when it comes to deciding a killer fell from enough of a height to warrant the 25% boost, since I’ve seen a video or two of a killer walking pretty normally down a ramp and getting hit with one or even two boosts right in a row. They may need to tweak he falling distance trigger to be a little higher, and also might want to limit the boost to only happening once per carry.

I've yet to play against Boil Over on live servers (bad internet over the past few days) but I did play against it on the PTB and that does feel pretty reasonable.
RPD is a nightmare map where everything is harder to deal with, it's not a particularly robust example when it comes to talking about the balance of any given thing. The new Boil Over does make a difference - on the PTB I lost hooks I would've gotten otherwise, but that's because I'm not used to Boil Over actually doing anything lol. It's a perk that makes a difference now, and there are probably some spots where you'll lose a hook you would've otherwise gained, but... surely that's good? That's what the perk was always supposed to achieve, it just does that now.
It may be too strong still, but certain spots on certain maps are definitely already hook dead zones.

It's more than just RPD to be fair. There's a few videos going around of various spots becoming unhookable location due to the perk.
Personally I don't care all that much and will just play around it, but I absolutely do agree with it needing to be addressed. If BHVR doesn't want to Killswitch any maps for now they could just kill the perk, adjust the 25% to something like 10 and call it good for now. Changing the perks percentage would be an infinitely easier change until the maps issue can be addressed

I also think if boil over does need changed, just make the drop distance way more consistent. It does seem ridiculous that you could go down a slight inclination and instantly lose 25%, make it a set distance that needs to activate it.

The problem is that it turns a lot of things that are annoying to chase in, but still potentially manageable because you can just walk out a wall or something to get to a hook, into unhookable frustration zones. Which is bad after, like, after going around trying to remove true infinites and reduce tiles that are still incredibly painful that will actually end.
RCPD is a hell pit of suffering, yeah, but a perk that threatens to make all twisty two-floor structures super super safe from everything except slug-camping is not great.

I agree that maps should be looked at more than any perk in the game in general but I doubt devs will address that.
In this case the best they can do is revert boil over or something. Funny thing is there is more stuff in this game that is similar to it, meaning you can't really do much about it.

Speaking of. How true is this post? Is it really that small of drop minimum or major exaggeration?

There are a lot of things in this game that are making the killer experience absolutely awful lately. Boil Over by itself isn't that big of a problem but there are areas in even "normal" maps due to the RNG God's deciding "F that killer in particular" where you literally cannot get someone to a hook in time if they have Boil Over.
There are a lot of frustrating things in this game but I think not being able to get the hook after you spend 30 seconds going after this one person and not even being able to hook them because that survivor is either purposefully taking advantage of the crap design or you just have bad luck with the awful hook spawns and there's nothing close enough to you to carry a survivor to.

Problem is that this and other Problematic perks are an issue on not just this map but now most most Maps atm.

I've used Boil Over and had it used against me. It needs tweaking. As is it's crazy good. I wiggled off 3 times in one game by running into the main building on EoC. Not a hard place to hook, but BO made it impossible. Killer left me slugged and I used Unbreakable. If I had a teammate with Boon: Exponential, it'd be unstoppable.
I had it used against me buy a "bully squad" that played an offering and took me to Grim Pantry. Made the main building unplayable. They'd run every chase there and go down in one of the upper-level rooms in a corner near the hole in the floor. The wiggle knocked me in the hole several times. It wasn't impossible like RPD, but it was extremely difficult and "zero" fun for me. I finally got a hook on the main antagonist when his downing animation caused him to fall through the hole, allowing me to drop down and pick him up for the hook.
BO, Unbreakable, Flip Flop... almost unhookable unless they go down right at the hook.

It's the same height requirement as Balanced Landing, so it actually isn't much of an exaggeration. Another notable example is the little hills in nearly every map.

Maps being the issue was pretty obvious when most complaints about Boil Over mention RPD specifically. Not sure why they didn't make it so a hook always spawns in the library because people pointed out this issue during the PTB.

It's not just RPD that can be abused by Boil Over. You can also do it on Ormond, Ironworks of Misery, Dead Dawg Saloon, Eyrie of Crows and Disturbed Ward. I think you can also do it on Mother's Dwelling but I am not sure. Also, Haddonfield will probably enter this list once it gets live again.
So your solution would be kill switching half of the game's maps?

Maps and what constitutes a great height. I don't care that balanced landing goes off constantly it's an exhaustion perk it's fine. I'd really rather they changed it for boil over because ########## is it unfair sometimes what ankle high garbage can cause the quarter wiggle.

Wow, 2 inches really is a great height to these devs

Thompson House with the right hook spawns.
