I'm hearing the heartbeat as the killer, why?
I'm playing killer and often times I hear a heartbeat just randomly. Every game, it's just random heartbeats as if I'm a survivor.
Xbox platform btw

It's because a Claudette is shadowing your movements and is waiting for the perfect time to strike.

You sure it’s not the sound effect of Killer Instinct, which reveals the location of survivors (Legions Frenzy, Nemesis vaccines, Artist slightly missing a surv with a crow, and some other killers have it to)?

This is the only explanation if not a bug. Killer Instinct makes the heartbeat noise for killers.

the Killer instinct reveals the location of the surv via a red symbol - similar to aura reveal. While that symbol is revealed the killers hears the heartbeat sound, so if you hear it, look around!
while it’s similar to aura reading, it isn’t limited by the same mechanics. For example, the locker is not hiding your killer instinct but your aura would be hidden. Same for aura hiding perks like distortion or Boon shadow step.
for Nemesis, the survivors trigger killer instinct after they used a vaccine, so from the killers point of view it probably happens randomly (I was confused the first matches with Nemesis becaus of this as well)

Thats probably Killer Instinct! Its something a few killers have that reveal the location of a Survivor, it also has a visual effect, so when ever you hear the heartbeat, look around for a bright red spiderweb lookin thingy, theres a Survivor there :)
If you want to know which killers trigger this:
Spirit
The Spirit has access to Killer Instinct but only with the help of Add ons,
- Mothers Glasses(Rare Add On) reveals a Survivor when they are within 2 meters of your Husk while Phasing
- Dried Cherry Blossom(Very Rare add on) reveals Survivors within 4 meters of you while phasing at the cost of not being able to see Scratch marks
Legion
Upon stabbing some one while in Feral Frenzy, all other Survivors in your Terror Radius not suffering from Deep Wounds are revealed to you
Ghost Face
After being revealed by a Survivor, their location is briefly shown to you
Demogorgon
While charging a Shred attack, any Survivor near an Active Portal will be revealed to you
Executionner (Pyramid Head)
Survivors who step on your trails you leave behind, will become Tormented (if not already Tormented) and theyll also be revealed to you. How ever they can avoid this by crouching!
The Twins
Any time you are controlling Charlotte, if a Survivor is near Victor (doesnt matter if hes idle or on a Survivor) they will be revealed to you. Survivors how ever can counter this by crouching!
Nemesis
A Survivor succesfully using a Vaccine will be revealed briefly.
Cenobite (Pinhead)
A Survivor solving the Lament Configuration will be revealed with Killer Instinct for the entire time theyre solving it
Artist
A Survivor that just barely misses getting hit by a Dire Crow or Swarm will be revealed to you

There is a Spirit add-on that can trigger Killer Instinct as well. I am not too firm with add-ons though, I think it triggers when Spirit is phase walking and a surv is near the husk?
