Remember when Dead Dawg was disabled because a totem couldn’t be cleansed?
Now killers literally can’t get to a hook on RPD library because of a perk/ map design and nothing?
The Devs silence says it all really. So much for that kill switch feature that they promised for bugs and exploits.
All it would take to fix is one hook guaranteed to always spawn in the library, that’s it!

The killswitch is there for something that's absolutely game breaking and can crash the game or be severely exploited where the game cannot end for example. Neither of those apply here, survivors can be slugged etc.
Whilst I appreciate RPD can be frustrating right now, it is something that has been brought up to the team.

I'm starting to think they won't killswitch RPD because of how much they've already disabled that map since it's release. They should killswitch it until they fix the hook situation. It's been an issue since before the Boil Over buff, that buff just made it worse.

So a four man bully squad running Boil Over, Soul Guard, Tenacious, and Boon Exponential isn't game breaking because while it might take a hour of you knocking someone down, waiting for them to get up with exponential, having to chase them again for (at least) eight seconds in order to knock them down again and having to repeat the process multiple times ISN'T taking the game hostage?
Like...I suppose you're technically right in that the game will eventually end as long as you're willing to do this for a good twenty plus minutes PER survivor...
Does BHVR not realize how utterly ridiculous this sounds or do they realize it, they just don't really care?

I am convinced it’s just an ego thing at this point. They know if they back down now it’s openly admitting their players know more about the game than they do despite all the statistics they keep under lock and key. And it’s clear with what happened with the twitch shirts that the devs aren’t exactly humble.

Definitely feels more like an exploit.
Fair enough if you’re playing against a Boil Over bully squad on a map with a plethora of hooks, if you pick up and they’re using Sabotage and Breakout then you can simply try and hook somewhere else, I’ve countered it plenty of times
But when you’re in a situation where there doesn’t even need to be another survivor helping with Sabbo or Breakout and one survivor can wiggle off 100% of the time because of one perk and taking advantage of a certain spot on the map, that feels like an exploit to me

Just a minor point, but hypothetically if a squad all has No Mither plus Boil Over then I think (unless I’m overlooking somehing) the only way to slug them if they keep running to an unhookable spot is to stand and guard the slugged survivor and down them over and over until their timer runs out. Technically the game would end in a finite amount of time but it could be a really, really long time since the bleed out keeps stopping when they get up if the survivors just are trying to drag it out as long as possible in lieu of doing gens.
Also, it might be worth considering disabling the map offering instead of the map. Without the offering guaranteeing a “you can’t hook me” squad goes to RPD they’d be less likely to try and go into the game doing that specific tactic and loadout from the outset. The offering is just exacerbating the situation honestly, without the offering available RPD goes back to its old status quo more or less, at least in my opinion. 🤷♂️

I was standing here, reading Mandy's post before and asking myself "how hard is it to switch a thing off which makes this game so much utterly more frustrating than it already is. Not a single soul on this planet would complain about neither RPd or Boil Over being disabled.
How stubbborn can someone be and thinking "yeah, it's not game breaking or anything so there is no reason to do it".
There is no reason to NOT do it, it is indeed game breaking and frustrating, but don't worry, I feel save here in the life boat, because I am seeing the ship (dbd and bhvr) slowly sinking.

It's not just RPD, Mandy.
Eyrie, IWOM and any map with a mandatory drop to hook people is basically giving bad actors the keys to the Trollmobile, and it's having a significant and immediate negative effect on the game.
I appreciate that the kill switch is for emergencies only, but as it stands, this perk is the newest incarnation of the 'you can't pick me up from this spot' issue. And that took years to fix (and there are still a handful of these spots today!).
It's not my game, but this perk is going to result in problems popping up forever - because there will always be another unhookable spot being found, and once people find something to abuse, it's going to be abused.
I don't think anyone minds the perk being stronger, but this wasn't the way to do it.

Although I get that it may not technically fit the criteria listed to be killswitched, why wasn’t it obvious enough from the PTB that this perk was going to be a problem?
That’s what I don’t understand, and what concerns me, regardless of whether it’s “working as intended” or not.

Until bhvr does something, I'll just keep putting up Sacrificial Wards and when I run out of those, I'll dc when someone puts RPD. Going against this once is boring enough, but when every other game is this, I have better things to do.

It doesnt seem really fair, yes they are not perfectly equal with the weight of the problem but it is indeed a massive disturbance and CAN be easily exploited, it is just a huge time waste with very little pay off if you commit to it.
I mean for real, how many ppl would complain if RPD would be kill switched for a few weeks? Idk why the devs are so cautious with it like its a new born child in their hands.

The devs of this game are huge narcissists. They just absolutely can't admit that they make mistakes. I used to spend a decent amount on cosmetics but I've stayed committed to not spending a single penny since mmr and boons. I'd rather give my money to developers that care and take advice from their community.

Its an exploit on the same tier of when survivors used to get on geometry where the killer couldn't reach to pick them up. That had the same "end result" where survivors could be slugged and bled out, but that was also before the plethora of perks that extend the process by long amounts of time, as others have mentioned.
Its like saying a killer bodyblocking a survivor in a corner isn't holding the game hostage, because the other survivors can do gens, leave, and the EGC will do the rest. its beyond dodging the issue.

With all due respect, an uncleansable totem is not game breaking, crash worthy or makes the game unable to end, and required hex perks and luck. Right now the boil over buff on RPD is the flipside of the issue, now killers are consistently unable to do their objective if the survivors bring 1 perk and a map offering.
Now I'm not throwing accusations here, but this certainly doesn't look like BHVR are actually giving fair treatment to both sides, since the fix is probably even easier than the totem, add a single hook in the library.

A totem couldn't be cleansed - Killswitch.
A game is drawn out excessively and survivors can't be hooked - Nah, all good.
If either of those is close to game-breaking and preventing the game from ending, it's the latter.

This happened to me on RPD when I was running thrill. All 4 were running Boil Over, 2 were running SOUL GUARD, and 1 was running No Mither.
It's clear their only goal was to annoy me (I was playing the Twins LMAO!!!!!!!). Yeah, it was an obnoxious 15 minute game, but I did it.

Well if nothing else, this thread shows why mods/devs don't talk much is discussions anymore. Especially heated ones like this.
2 pages worth of comments and a huge chunk of them beings "attacks"/passive aggressive questioning directed at a person that maybe isn't even involved in the decision making process for the development of the game.
(On the other hand i think the frustration and feeling of unequal treatment in itself is justified.)
