The AFKiller Epidemic. Or Am I Just Unlucky?
So generally play a few games of survivor in the morning these days, to ease myself in.
For the last...maybe week or so, I'd say 1 in 5 killers I've faced has been completely AFK from the start. Sometimes definitely automated (crouch...attack...crouch...attack) sometimes just standing there.
Anyone else seen something similar?

Sounds like you're unlucky. I usually only see AFK Killers during BP Events, where they can just auto-swing their weapon/special attack and earn BP while they AFK. Anytime it's an Event where you need to actively participate for the bonus(es), they disappear entirely.

It might be because I'm (I'm guessing) low-intermediate MMR as a survivor. A lot of the killers I see are multi-thousand hour monsters, probably dropping their MMRs.

Unlucky. They are extremely rare for me.

You are unlucky. AFK killers are not common for me. They are so rare.

I must say, I've been staring at walls a lot more lately, but it isn't to drop my MMR, sometimes I just look at the wall to escape the torment of the current survivor meta.

The best are the ones with a secret endgame build, though. Had this only encountered once, but I had a good laugh.
Was on the now defunct Hawkins map, AFK trapper, just hitting the air in front of him. After a while everyone was farming a few hits and escapes from him, and altruism for healing the hit survivor back up. Gens were slowly done. Then when the last gen poped, Trapper-kun exploded into action, NOEDed everyone in front of him and hunted down the two of us loitering around the exit gates. It was quick, decisive and brutally effective, because no one was prepared for it :D
I had to drop my head for that style and clever planning and it instilled a distrust of AFK killers in me. I now open the gates ASAP and leave and dont bother roaming around to open one more box etc.

Yeah I feel you. Man, can killer be frustrating - and a big part of that is just how nasty survivors are at times.
When I play survivor, I'll go out of my way to give the killer a kill if it's a blowout game, or at least to give them a BBQ stack. It always feels awful when you not only get a 4out with added teabags, but also lose out on a wodge of BP.

I escape the boil over abuse to basements. Its nice and quiet there i can think deep thoughts there...like why am i a killer why do i suffer through this when i could just be tea bagging and clicking

I just did that to a squad. Rancor, NOED, No Way Out and Bloodwarden after the obsession randomly thought we were friends because I didn't feel like hitting them until they popped the last gen. Got a 4k after standing there for 2 minutes waiting... Lol.

Don't really see it that much to be honest once every three months at best. Plus, the secret restriction of maximum daily MMR loss makes AFKing rather useless now.

If you've had 1 in 5 afk killers you're unlucky.
I've had one afk pig during the event and that's it.

Seen it quite a few times after midnight. Could easily be some kind of auto queue/join macro that people leave on over night to lower their MMR.

You're probably unlucky, the last AFK Killer that I can remember was a Plague that I faced like a year ago, or I forgot, could be either one

Haha similar. I never trust killers even when they (appearently) want to let me go. I always crawl/go to hooks instead of of the hatch or exit gates to keep my pride.
A streamer asked me once why didn't I crawl to the hatch and they admitted they wanted to close it in my face for "entertaining" purposes.
I am glad I don't trust anyone honestly.

It must be my region or MMR, because sure as sugar my first two killers of the day were AFK in place, swinging occasionally. Almost certainly a bot.

I haven't had many AFK killers, but I have had quite a few DC. Then accuse us of SWFing, when I only play solo, except the occasional Duo with my lady, who is not very skilled and we are drinking bourbon as well.

Lots of afks and dcs lately. Killers are being thrown into games they shouldn't be in and the afks are probably a symptom of frustration. Matchmaking is completely broken

I'm a killer main so I have no opinion on afk killers (other than that they’re being rude). On a tangent though I did have an afk survivor last night. I don’t know if the guy was deranking or what but he had no perks and was afk the whole match, kind of felt bad for his teammates.

There are a lot on the Japan server, probably 1/4 of games if you play every lobby you enter, you can notice them in the lobby usually if the killer keeps readying and unreadying. Most people, myself included, dodge them when they notice. My favorite I encountered was an AFK Blight that had a macro set up to spin around, lethal rush and attack. He ended up going across the whole map.
