Why is Ghostface's DLC a "chapter" instead of a "paragraph"?
Fellow members of the DBD community, please help me figure something out here.
In Dead by Daylight, a Chapter usually consists of a new map, a new survivor and a new killer. This pattern was here from the very beginning and remained unchanged for a long time.
Meanwhile, a "paragraph" consists of a new character introduced to the game, with the main examples being Bubba (which was originally supposed to be an actual Chapter) and Ash.
Such definitions are simple, right?
Then what the hell is this:
Why is this DLC, which had only a single character, considered a "chapter" instead of "paragraph"?
This doesn't make any sense.

Killers add more to the game and are usually considered a chapter as there's a new method of play entirely. Survivors that are single are usually paragraphs because a survivor really only adds their perks. Also possible that it's because these released on chapter update windows rather than midchapter windows.

But that doesn't explain Bubba's situation.
When Bubba lost Kate and the theorized map, they changed it from Chapter to Paragraph, in order to fit the definition.
Then why not do the same for Ghostface?

The Hellraiser DLC is also marketed as a Chapter, despite containing the same amount of content as a Paragraph. They've probably just dropped that naming scheme altogether.

With a grain of salt, from the wiki about Leatherface:
Since it was released in-between CHAPTERS V and VI, it was eventually renamed to CHAPTER 5.5 when the Developers abandoned the practice of naming single-character DLCs "Paragraphs".
Really this is the first I've heard it being changed but would explain everything being a chapter now. (even survivor only ones)

Because they wanted to retract the precident they set that a chapter has a certain amount of content with it.

By making a downgraded Chapter? I don't see a reason to.

At the time they were still showing yearly plans with chapters and midchapters listed at specific times. By redefining what "chapter" meant, all of a sudden their schedule had a lot less on it. Like not necessarily including characters for both sides or a map.

That I do remember, yes.
It is still weird that their attempt at "redefining" the concept started with a downgraded Chapter, but I see where you are coming from.

Couple reasons actually.
1) Paragraph is a retired term. They don't use it anymore.
2) "Chapter [whole number]" are used when content is released on the normal schedule, which currently is the 3 month cycle. Like Ghost face being Chapter 12.
3) "Chapter [number .5]" are used when the content is released outside the normal update schedule, like Chapter 21.5, Hour of the Witch.
Ash vs Evil Dead + even Leatherface have both been reclassed to Chapter .5 too.

A chapter is just released every 3 months right, and a paragraph is any content released between those three months like mikela right?

I think they said on one of the dev streams a long time ago that they dropped using the term paragraph to avoid confusion.
