Right, so disable killer powers around hooked survivors, except after all generators are completed. I would even trade BT and DS being deactivated end game for a meaningful change like that.

No, it is not a bannable offense and yes it is different from body blocking someone because the game can end. Survivors refusing to do gens because they don't want to activate the traps and die is their own problem.

That's a totally understandable suggestion, I don't know how it would work in practice but It'd help for sure.
I think BHVR should identify the killers who have the problem powers and make tweaks to them so that camping is either less appealing or not impossible to counter. Both sides should have things they can do in the moment so neither side feels completely powerless (no pun intended)
The only counterplay to this playstyle, is if 3 people get their party hats off - they leave and hope the last person gets the hatch

I mean it isn't healthy and IMO it's one of the few things killers can do that I genuinely consider extremely toxic. But I am just responding to it being bannable or hostage holding. Hostage holding has a very specific definition in this game and afk pig doesn't fit it because it's possible to end the game. Just not in a very desirable way. But it still can end, so it isn't bannable even if it's not nice.

You cannot bodyblock two switches at the same time, but either can be used to escape. If a key is in a box, only that box can remove the trap. That's not the same at all.

To compare it to hooks - it's like if pig could stop survivors from unhooking their teammates but their teammates hook timer only goes down if they complete a generator.

A killer bodyblocking an exit gate switch IS the same as survivors bodyblocking for one another and if one side called the other abusing mechanics then I think they would be wrong
But survivors bodyblocking and pigs bodyblocking jigsaw boxes aren't the same. That was what I said

Survivors have a 4% chance to Kobe. Pig only gets a 6% chance of pulling this off. The other 94% most pigs won't be able to win. Doesn't seem sad to me. Seems totally fair.

It's pretty terrible. Whether it's RNG dependent or not, it's just denying survivors a game. There's no agency here, just a double coin toss on whether you even make it to the sad stage where the Pig mops up the stragglers. It shouldn't be a thing.
It's like Basement Bubba, but with more RNG involved and less need to be able to successfully chase people, and even less skill-based determinism on the survivor side - you can delete players from the game with exceptionally little effort. There is counterplay, but it doesn't exist in solo queue, and nobody has fun either way. Not healthy for the game.

nope, the pig is not holding the game hostage since it can end, isn't restricting survivors movement since they are free to move around the map and the Pig made it clear that they were active, just not moving. Its not the same thing, don't attempt to stretch the rules.

You're acting like if the Pig doesn't get a 4k on one box, she loses the game.
If she gets one person, which she usually will, she's in a good spot unless survivors were very snappy about the timing of activating the gens and popped 3 gens in short order, or 99ed a bunch of them (which only happens in SWF.) If she gets two or more people, the survivors are straight-up boned.
And either way, it's a ######### game for survivors where your ability to do anything or just get force depipped with <5k points depends on RNG and you'll only get a normal game if the Pig manages to get nobody with her trick. There's nothing desirable in this scenario except a sense of amusement or sadism.

Why is that a few years back survivors were absolutely ######### on for deranking, but killers have always had 'playstyles' that enabled the same behaviour.

I mean, on one hand the idea that all 4 keys are in the same box just sounds broken, you know?
On the other, it seems like this is a strategy with an absurdly low payoff rate, comparable to running a survivor build based around Kobeing off the hook, so that makes me think it should be left alone.
I was never huge into saw (outside of the first one) and had to read the wiki to understand the whole "pig" thing, so I don't know if I can say whether or not it fits thematically, but it hardly seems an exploit, given the extremely low success rate it would have just via the law of averages.

Yea it turns out I am really bad at Maths. Someone claiming a better understanding put it like this.
Getting 1 head pop is a 1 in 4 or 25%
Getting 2 head pop's is a 1 in 4 of the 25% or 6.25%.
Getting 3 head pop's is a 1 in 4 of the 6% or 1.56%.
Getting 4 head pop's is a 1 in 4 of the 1.56% or 0.4%.
So a 1 in 250 attempt occurrence. No idea if this is accurate again I am garbo at maths.

there's no counter to killers body blocking. i once found a feng min in a corner and body blocked her for 5 gens and egc. thankfully they were all solo q so they didn't know that they could keep me hostage. never felt so dirty in a vid game in my life

I'm not going to put words in anyones mouth, but part of why I think people are making threads about this is a big content creator recently went against someone doing this during their 'survivor streak' or something like that
As you can imagine - people either saw it there or encountered people who saw it and tried it themselves. Just a guess, could be completely coincidental timing but some ppl have been doing this tape afk thing since the addon was fixed, which was a while ago.

Survivor Bodyblocking = Hit them, collision lost and killer melts right through them, has a counter, injures survivors, game can be progressed
Killer bodyblocking = absolutely no gameplay around it, there is no counter
This is a huge issue in the community is making these awful comparisons thinking they have a 'gotcha' moment.

Only thing is, the Killer isn't bodyblocking. The Survivor's can continue with normal game play. The Killer is standing in one spot, but as long as they are at their keyboard, it's a legitimate play. It's a toxic and pretty ######### one, but it does not break any rules. Survivors are not being stopped from completing their goal(s).
Not trying to defend this type of play, it's funny but trash tier, but throwing around some buzzwords doesn't make it any less legitimate than 3 people coordinating to bodyblock a killer, sabo the hook, and force a drop. You can keep doing your objectives, you just now have to time it properly and coordinate it. Something that is damn near impossible in solo queue, especially if someone doesn't understand the mechanics.
The Killer IS doing their job. They're trying to kill people. They are probably not AFK, most likely they're giggling and giving their audience a good show, but there is no rule that requires them to move from any position on the map as long as they are not inhibiting a Survivor from doing their objective(s), complete gens, throw a switch, leave out the exit gate or hatch if it's available.

A survivors goal if they have an active trap on their head is to get it off, a killer, who has chosen a box at random from the start of the game prevents that being removed, ever.
Also, can we stop with the pedantics of "They're not actually AFK if they're at their desk" this is such a petty excuse to try and skirt the rules, if you're at your desk, and you're not playing the game you are "afk".

They are playing the game though. They've used an add-on and are awaiting the results. Just because it's a ######### move, and really bad sportsmanship, doesn't remove any of the legitimacy.
A survivor's goal is only to complete gens, open the gates, and leave. It has always been acceptable practice for a Pig to bodyblock a Survivor in the Basement and wait for the timer to pop their head. Devs have stated that multiple times in the past when it was complained about. This is only extending that definition further. Instead of having one Survivor trapped and ticking, they now have 4.
Truthfully, it can be argued that the Survivors are holding the game hostage because they aren't doing their objective(s). Pretty sure no one doing gens is actually one of the definitions. Pretty messed up right?
I'm not defending this behavior, but people need to understand that just because something requires more effort than M1 or Hold W, doesn't make it against the rules. Look at the situation, figure out a way around it (there is more than 1 box...), and try to overcome it. Doesn't always work out, but no one is entitled to a win.

"A survivors goal is only to complete gens" Do you honestly genuinely believe that in a match against pig, with an active trap your only goal is to "do gens" the survivors goal is... well it's in the name "survive" you literally can't do this if you ignore taking the trap off your head and just do gens.
The fact you say you don't defend this playstyle but try and make the distinction between "not actually afk" and "afk" is funny to me. I didn't play the entire match but i absolutely wasn't afk nope not even. Just like crash dcs and task manager dcs there is no distinction between these, lets hope bhvr starts removing these players.
Additionally, it's just another "playstyle" killers use to legitimise their de-ranking so they can have an easier time, just like basement bubba is a totally legit not at all deranking playstyle so they can bully low mmr survivors for their dopamine rush.

The simplest change in my mind would be to have it so that the exit gates no longer kill you while wearing the reverse bear trap if that specific add-on is in play. It doesn't nerf the pig in any circumstance other than precisely this one.

I was thinking like pyramid heads cages, if a pig is too close to a box, the 'key' is moved to another one, or the box is moved to another spot.

I mean, if the pig wants to stand infront a box the entire game is it really an issue? Boxes and keys wont be moving around during normal gameplay this targets afk pigs only.

GoshJosh, Here's how this strategy is used.
- It's entirely a meme and the pig will go afk for the whole match or at least until the exit gates are powered.
- The pig will wait for 1 or more survivors to die and then they'll play normally. At which point you're down 1 or more survivors and chances of survival are slim.
The second one is the most dangerous playstyle. Because if 2 survivors die that quickly becomes a 4k once they're free from guarding the boxes.
So the strategy is to 99 all gens and break all totems. The killer in this situation either has to abandon the box to defend or they allow you to 99 the gens. And it doesn't even take that long when you're not being contested. Once all gens are ready to pop, you pop them as quickly as possible. Any survivor who can leave by the gates must do so ASAP. If there is more than 1 survivor with a head trap on, they must also leave and die by leaving the gate. The last survivor escapes through hatch (if they're lucky enough to find it before their head pops or the pig catches them.

The suggestion that I have is not even something that I thought of, it was Otz's suggestion to this fix. But I agree whole heartedly. Have it so that the iri add-on removes the ability for the exit gates to kill you. This would mean that regardless of how many hats are left by the end of the match all survivors would be able to escape, then it simply is a matter of educating the DBD survivors on how to use this strategy to escape once they've identified that they're versing an AFK pig.

This video is pretty funny but it really does emphasize the issues with pig. Her RNG boxes just don't belong. Get rid of the RNG and buff her accordingly or balance some stuff out. It's not fun to have to run around trying every single box. There's no skill involved in that.

Are you aware that the chances of that happening are very low?
In most cases you will kill one or two survivors at best by doing that and in a lot of matches the 4 survivors will remove their traps before reaching the box you're blocking and you will lose the match almost for sure due the time wasted blocking the box and not having traps for pressuring them.

Solo Queue can be fairly effective when everyone is on the same page. I reminds me back when plague didn't have any fountains, survivors just knew not to cleanse. It was just a global strat that was used. This could be the same, if you spawn and you already have your head trap on, don't pop a generator until someone has been hooked.

RNG is part of DbD and fine, and not everything in the game boils down to skill. That’s ok.

RNG as part of some things like map spawns is fine, but not for pig boxes. It's the reason why her kill rate is inflated and the devs nerf her because they only know how to look at stats. These unwelcome tactics spawn from the unnecessary RNG.

Your goal is to do gens and escape. Nothing else. You can add little extra caveats but those are just your own and aren't supported by the devs. Doing this is not against the rules. It's really that simple.
