Why the ######### are we still depipping?
I mean, please someone tell me a good reason for this.
With all the things outside of our control, RNG, map offerings, tombstone piece, SWFs, afk pigs, etc.
I have always thought, the biggest disconnect between survivors and killers were the words, "Entity Displeased. "
As if a bad game wasn't enough, you had to rub it in a person's face. Which often led to sweaty play to avoid those words.
Now, rank is meaningless , only really rewards playtime and we still depip.
Why Behavior, why?

I actually posted a thread about this a few months ago asking why killers were punished more for not being able to complete their objective (Hooks/kills) compared to survivors who could still easily 2 pip even if they died, failing their objective entirely. Even though the emblems/pips basically mean nothing more than who plays the most.

Agree. Just hide ranks and disable depips, hate getting depip because of something out of my control.
Like teammate DC early is very popular lately.
Ranks mean nothing anymore but BP reward so why even keep depip as a possibility.

My friend keeps depipping because I play on Switch. That's right, he depips because of me. How? Because in second state it is impossible for me to hit the skill checks and survive for the full length of time on the hook, which means I die and his pips suffer. Makes perfect sense. Once I die, with the potato teammates we get, it's pretty much inevitable he'll die, and if he doesn't die then all he gets is a safety pip. Depipping is archaic, a leftover element from the days when pipping correlated with matchmaking. Now it's just a punishment for bad matchmaking and teammate mistakes/limitations, something that the player has no control over.
If I sound annoyed, it's because I am. I can earn 20+ pips without getting to the next grade because of depipping. The devs keep saying pips are about "time played," not skill, but this contradicts their own statements. It's not even about player skill; pips are heavily affected by killer and teammate skill. So why the hell is depipping still in the game?
Survivors and killers would be a lot, lot less annoyed by bad matches if depipping weren't a thing. Depipping only serves to stoke the animosity between the two sides.

Because all the the morons that done everything they could to cheese their MMR rating up seem to now be doing everything they can to cheese their MMR rating down
1 -
Because we need a numerical value in order to grade ourselves.
1 -
getting iri 1 survivor is so hard like a killer can end your game so fast if they wanted to and u gotta freakin sacrifice a goat to gain a pip. I should get a pip if I max out boldness points alone
1 -
That is a very good point

I know. It's meaningless, but still it adds a bit of insult to a tough game
1 -
Yeah, but it is now only about rewards, so why depip us
3 -
Well, if nothing else, you shouldn't be depipping, IMO.
1 -
But how does that factor into rank rewards?
2 -
dunno, who cares about rank rewards
0 -
Depipping is a relic of the old system and is no longer needed. I hope the developers will not need a few years to understand this and remove it))

I'll always take some bloodpoints. Add to my item collection
2 -
Well said, so agree
2 -
I do. My friend I play with does. A lot of players care. One million BP per Iri 1, so 2 million BP if you reach killer Iri 1 and survivor Iri 1, is a good amount of BP. If you don't care, that's fine, but there are plenty of us who do care.
2 -
The problem is that sbmm is kinda in conflict with emblems.
They really have to make up their mind.
3 -
I completely agree. There are so many things out of our control especially as survivor. I could run the killer majority if game and de pip because I didnt get to heal, rescue, or repair.
3 -
What's rank rewards got to do with depipping tho?

I've made a ton of posts about this and even offered simple easy suggestions for fixes. Right now it's a skill based system that determines how far you get in a non skill based system. It doesn't make sense and should've been reworked completely when grades were made.
It should just be a simple bar on the screen. Each grade takes longer to fill up, so it takes longer to fill the bar at gold than it does silver and so on. Each match gives you an amount of points that goes to that bar. The more you do in a match, the more points you get, the greater the bar fills. But you get a base amount by just joining the match, so even if you get tunneled and camped immediately, you still get something.
Even if you played and got tunneled and camped in every game, or had 4 man escapes every game playing as killer, you'd still get something, and would eventually get to iri 1 by just playing enough, regardless of how your matches went.
This would completely simplify their systems and actually make it easier for Behavior to manage. No more emblems or pips to worry about. Just simple point bar. People reaching grade 1 too fast? Adjust the points required to fill the bars. Taking too long and not feeling rewarding enough? Just adjust the amount of points required. It could be fine tuned and tweaked very easily to meet the standards they're looking for, and would be a long lasting system they wouldn't need to completely change later.

Its really the same for Killers too. He could hook everyone but didn't get a single kill and he will depip. The Pip system is flawed and like others said doesn't work with SBMM. I only can play on the weekends because of my jobs I work during the week so I can't reach past silver if I'm lucky, so I usually get stuck in ash and get little BP

So you can depip, but you cant derank. Whats the problem? Do you want it even easier to get your Iri 1 rewards?
0 -
What? In order to reach Iridescent Grade 1, you have to pip up to it. I have earned 20+ pips while stuck at the same grade because of depipping. If it weren't for depipping, I would've reached Iri Grade 1 last week. As is, I won't reach it before the grades reset.

My girl is having the same issue. Has been iri 4 for the past two weeks, despite playing every single day. It doesn't make sense when it's supposed to be about time played.
3 -
Yes, if it's solely an indication of time played, why not?
Depipping adds negative connotations to the experience.
2 -
Definitely goes for both sides

Thanks.
Well thought out!

Yea you had a very good point because I play both sides and see the pain of both sides. I mean I like the thought of the reward through playtime system but the Pips just make it more difficult, not to mention you have to earn more Pips as you "rank" up.
0 -
I totally agree. And with the grind already being terrible, why make us grind even more ?
0 -
Never said it didnt. Much harder to de-pip as killer though. That was my main point.
1 -
Everything? I can gain enough pips to hit rank 1 on each side, because I played enough and played competently, but only end up rank 3-4 because I kept losing pips from bad matches. Hits me more as survivor, since getting killed early is based on a lot of factors that are outside of my control.
There's no reason for depipping to exist. I can understand black pipping still being a thing, so you won't rank up by being afk or something, but why can you still go downwards in a system that only measures how much you play?
2 -
Nah, it just reflects your played match.
0 -
You don't find it a negative when you depip?
0 -
DEAD
and
SACRIFICED
arent very pleasent words either
1 -
Fair enough.
But you can see them and still pip.
0 -
Sorry for late reply, there is no longer depipping it does not exist you only pip up now since SBMM was introduced, there is MMR which is why players are intentionally cheesing there results one way or the other, lowering MMR by afk, not playing etc or trying to raise their MMR by using all the strongest stuff and playing like a scumbag. Getting to rank 1 is mostly a matter of putting the time in, if you play well you will get there quicker. A lot of people still say depipping for afk'ers etc however it is not literally true nowadays

see the above post

Depipping definitely still exists. You can't depip to a lower grade, but you can depip while trying to get to the next grade, getting stuck in an endless loop of pipping up and down without actually grading up. If depipping didn't exist I would've reached Iri Grade 1 last week, but instead I'm still stuck in gold.
2 -
Yeah you can still play really well, and escape, and depip at red ranks. I know tons of people who play this for hours on end everyday for weeks and they're still iri 4. Because they'll have a decent match where they get a pip, next might be a safety, and then 3 games in a row where they're tunneled and camped out early. Meaning all of their "playtime" means nothing.
4 -
we shouldn't being de pipping.
1 -
I think it's weird we still use a pip system that takes into accounts things besides kills, when the MMR system only cares about kills. If I play Myers and tombstone everyone at 5 gens, I will depip. But for MMR I'll go up. Why do these two systems severely contradict each other? Why ios the entity displeased if killing=skillful? Why do we have a grade system that takes into account things like hooks, when the MMR does not?
1 -
Would be nice if depiping got removed. Stuck at gold rank 3 because good luck getting 5 matches in a row where there's enough to do to earn your pips.
